  1. The husband of the owner of Bistro 89 (soi 89 almost opposite MAKRO), as was, is I believe a master baker and whose family invented the first real bakers oven in France at the turn of the century.

Bistro 89 is changing to Baguette 89 ...... opening imminently (I noted the oven is already installed) so bread and baguettes should be extra special we trust. More info as and when.

Dropped by today, sign up saying will be open next Monday 1st June for bread, pastries and sandwiches!

  2. PEA up and running after 30 hours despite the devastation, True Internet needless to say took 5 days to get their system restored. (3BB back in 3 days I believe)

Phoned them everyday to check progress and every day they promised it would work that evening....lies after lies.

So True needs to rename themselves: "UNTRUE INTERNET SERVICES" !!

  3. I am sure this must have been asked many times before, but I have searched and could not find anything!

Does anyone know where the post office keeps the magic map that turns Thai addresses into street numbers and easy locations, as per anywhere in the West.

This nonsense of estate number/house number, moo number, tambon/amphur does not make it easy to find somewhere.

I am convinced it is another fiendish ploy to confuse everyone...and they have suceeded.

So where is the magic code breaking map?

  4. Had a red City, difficult to sell ....Thai's only like black, white or silver. My buddy had a silver Jazz one year older than mine but got more for it despite my City having less than half his mileage and in better condition!

Bought a silver CX5 and am very happy with it. But had a small knock ...silver easy to match and repair, my buddy now has a red M3 also had a bump, but only place to repair is BKK.

The red is beautiful but has its costs!

Unbelievable to say Mazda Thailand cannot do body repair work, "TIT"

  5. Sold the old car today and wanted to know how they charge the transfer fee. Asked the official and he reluctantly explained that they charge 0.5% of the car's value as sold.

Sounds reasonable until you realize my car's value was about 300,000 (as stated on the insurance certificate), but he wrote it down as 400,000, so a nice 500THB backhander for him, hence no printed or stated fees on the web site!

    T.I.T!

  6. I use a simple four sided grater to shred the ginger on the coarse grind side...costs about a buck...

for hummous ye gotta have garbanzos and tahina both of which are rarer than hen's teeth outsida falang places (do you like substituting manao for lemons?)....

Hummus is easy: chick peas are 42 THB in Macro and you can make your own Tahini from ground white sesame seeds and olive oil...cheap as chips!
