Hello moderator! Is this news serious or is it an April's fools day news?

They blame foreigners to not abide the law when in the meantime you rarely see thais making receipts at their businesses or of course employing myriads of Burmese and Cambodian workers without contracts. Yes let's put this migrant workers in jail, not the employers. Not to speak about traffic laws... Foreigners get stopped for routine checks when wearing helmets and seemingly look okay while Thai kids aged 12 pass by 4 on a Honda wave all without helmets (and no licence).

I will not be surprised if the taxi apps are going to ask for advance payment or deposit payment in the near future before starting the pick up seeing how common and easy it is for people to cancel their rides.

Had to do the same in a few instances: - once a passenger was drunk and threatened to punch me while I was driving with no reason. I stopped the car and kicked him out - another time a customer said he will not pay when half way to his destination. Of course I told him to exit the car (when back at the starting point) It really isn't an easy job and people can be crazy. I know the reputation of the Phuket taxis but you always need to know the full story before judging.
