Is it possible someone like the Thai embassy in London had block booked most of the seats already and therefore the number available was very limited?
I think it was showing 254 economy available. Only 1 seat was red when my wife got in.

Do not book Etihad. You will need a Covid-19 test just to board the aircraft. Someone has posted this. EVA, Qatar and Emirates should be bookable but not sure on the flight frequencies. Thai repat flights to London for returning Thais is taking bookings. Flights on 13/20/27 September.
For European transit to UK I have seen a number of trip reports on Youtube, eg Noel Phillips, and the answer seems to be no. Don't forget the UK registration for quarantine which is needed from Thailand. Needs to be done 48 hours before you fly.

Are these flights from the UK to Thailand ?
Yes.

I can sympathise though, I think the number of flights does really need to increase, its madness having everyone scramble at the same time. Hopefully you'll have some luck with people not purchasing the flights which will free up space
The website crashed for the August bookings. I believe the missed bookings were not re-advertised. 34 for the mid August flight is a lot. There are many comments on their Facebook page, mainly in Thai, with people commenting on the whole process.

I am guessing that as so many people had already registered for previous flights that they decided to hold back on new registrations. It would have been better if they had said this on the web page. Is it any surprise people get upset ?

The talk in the UK community was that 3000 had registered for the July flights. There have been attempts to get more flights arranged but to no avail.
The German government managed to get 30,000 of their citizens back from NZ in April the efforts by the Thai government have not been overwhelming. There was also a rumour, never substantiated, that Thai was having problems in Europe due to non payment of fuel biils. Also the number of SQ rooms available.

They never answer the phone.
Yet this is the day they decide to release a new website AND release their repatriation flights.
Horrrific.
Sorry this is not a new website. I noticed that the registration part was not accessible. I'm not surprised nearly 600 comments on their Facebook page regarding problems with no shows for the August flights.

My wife got in immediately at 09:00, flight booked. She was already pre-registered.

Thai, EVA and BA have been doing a similar thing for the past few months and then moving the start date forward. As Harry Callahan once said "You've Got To Ask Yourself One Question: Do I Feel Lucky?" .

The Thai Gov has booked space on 5 flights from Addis in September. It is a normally scheduled flight. The Thai Embassy Nairobi is carrying the details. I'm not sure when the academic year starts in China but there are many Ethiopian students in China so I assume there may be a surge in passengers sometimes.

Very, if it can be confirmed that these flights are definitely the outbound leg of repatriation flights (and will, therefore, not be cancelled).
They have not yet been advertised by the London Embassy but I suspect the info is correct.

I guess the MFA orders a flight from Thai airways as repatriation flight, and the MFA picks a date which suits them for this purpose.
Then after this is done, Thai airways tries to sell the seats out of Thailand. The number of people who might wish to fly out of Thailand is probably never taken into consideration when planning these flights.
Correct. The embassy in London takes the names of people and passes them on to Thai who takeover for the payment. 34 no shows for the mid August flight for 260 seats. Very long thread on the Thai London Embassy's Facebook page about this. Seems to have been some payment problems from the translations to English.

Is that good or bad?
We get on well and with their wives. Looks good if they have a party and a farang is there.

Has this been cleared with the CAAT ? I doubt it, its the usual scenario these days with various ministers making up their own personal policy.

Have been on True fibre in lower Buriram for 3 years. On a low package which has been increased from 30 to 50mb at no extra cost. With TV as well no problems. Downloading of a season of a TV series is fine. Not as fast as our UK 250mb connection but reasonable. At the end of the day I've no complaints.

Quite a lot of Thai's owned fleet are now worthless. A340-500s unsellable for years, A340-600s being dumped by most airlines, B747-400s sadly disappearing from airline fleets and many A380 operators putting their aircraft into long term storage as currently they have no value. Lets not forget new B787s and A350s due to be delivered are being deferred by many airlines due to lack of demand for the foreseeable future. B77X deliveries now back to at least 2022 due to engine problems. Long haul is going to have a very slow recovery. The only hope for cheap flights between Europe and Thailand will be a fare war between Emirates and Qatar as Emirates are suffering from having no small aircraft.

Thanks but ok if you live in the London area, I live 260 miles from London, we would have to travel to London by public transport and stay in a hotel increasing the risk of picking an infection up.
Some of them have regional clinics. Visit the sites and check. At least one had and another was talking about regional set ups and this was a couple of weeks ago.

You make it sound like this country is run by a bunch of right wing, xenophobic, ultra orthodox buddhists and ex military. Err okay can't disagree with you. I look forward to the first Asian equivalent of Gilead at least the hand maidens will be good looking.

UK repatriation flights gone in 4 minutes?
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

I think if you were a single farang, not travelling with a Thai, you would be bumped if the flight was full. I seem to remember seeing an embassy posting about this. Preference to 'Thai brothers and sisters' was the term used.
