That's what I thought as well until this morning, when the Embassy's registration still didn't show any flights. Now i'm thinking Thais opting for SQ can also book directly from the Thai Airways website for the following reasons:

Yes seems to have all changed from this morning. Total confusion on the Facebook page. One person asking for a Thai to Thai translation.

Facebook before their own website - amazing!

Looks like it's saying Thais may also use these airlines but will then have to pay for quarantine (ASQ)?

Cetainly SQs have only been available on Government organised flights, irrespective of the carrier. Interestingly my wife was on last Sundays TG917 and she is in an SQ not on the official SQ  or ASQ list. The Divalux  Resort just around the corner from Swampy in Srisa Chorakhe Noi. Very good rooms and a balcony but food is below average. Seems to have improved after complaints particularly as lunch and diner were always cold.

I should add that the Facebook page is the normal method the Embassy uses to get information out to the UKs Thai community and receive numerous complaints back.

  3. My attempts at translating are probably wrong but it looks like the official list of airlines that you can use now as officially increased. Emirates was due to finish on Oct 24. The London Embassy will issue CoE for the following airlines into Thailand, EVA, Emirates, Qatar, Etihad and Singapore. There was also an indication that Thai would now be on every Sunday, TG917 as part of the repat program. A lot of confusion so far from the Thai community in the UK as to whether its booking direct with Thai or via the normal embassy registration.

  4. Sometimes the flight is operated by a B777-200F freighter, sometimes by a passenger B787-8/9. It is quite common for passenger a/c to be used on cargo flights these days. While watching a live feed of Bigjets.tv the commentator mentioned that a BA flight to Philadelphia was carrying seafood only. Airlines like BA only have a small number of freighters and airfreight rates have risen dramatically so it pays to use passenger a/c for freight duties.

  5. Thanks for the info. I was wondering what time to queue up at LHR. My wife is on Sundays flight and I've prepped her by showing her a couple of vlogs on Youtube about SQ.

I have to say that she had 2 major mistakes coming from the Embassy. First they only put her name on the CoE. They sent a second email a few hours later acknowledging that had made a mistake and resent with the full name. The surname they sent to Thai Air had the surname misspelt. Her Thai passport, ID card and Thai driving license all have the correct spelling in English. I only discovered this when after paying the fare then trying to check her reservation on the links sent I could not get anything. When I queried this with Thai, within 2 hours of e-mail being sent they mailed the E-ticket. Incorrect surname. Emailed them back stating the embassy had made the mistake and included the CoE. 2 hours later new E-ticket sent with amendments correctly made. I don't often praise Thai Air but they responded professionally.

I can recall a report of the UK embassy issuing the COE for those flights for non Thai nationals.

As I have posted on numerous threads  -

This appeared on the Thai Embassy London's Facebook page, however its was posted in a reply well down the thread. The poster also checked up with the embassy and confirmed that it can issue a COE

"Thai Embassy London confirmed that they are issuing CoE for these Emirates flights, subject to all the same CoE criteria as the repatriation flights.
However they will need sufficient notice to issue the CoE due to the additional requests they are now receiving for these additional flights."

The announcement below came from the UAE Thai Embassy.

With reference to the Emirates Airline’s announcement regarding the resumption of passenger services to Bangkok with daily flights starting from 1 September 2020. The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Dubai would like to clarify as follows:

    1. Emirates Airline has been approved by the CAAT to operate commercial flights to Bangkok currently from the period of 1 September – 24 October 2020. However, the abovementioned commercial flights are operating only for “NON-THAI NATIONALS” in permitted types according to current Thai laws and regulations. Those who which to enter Thailand via these commercial flights should study the guided procedures in the infographic below.

And remember just how long have they been working on these vaccines..decades not months and still no miracle breakthrough.

Wasn't it proudly trumpeted that Thailand had  developed a cure for AIDS and EBOLA and Russia  is already administering a WuFlu vaccine ?

I saw the posters above a couple of clinics on Sukumvit for Aids and Herpes. That was late 80s.

  8. This was the official status with Emirates particular with reference to flying from the UK. I suspect this may be extended and perhaps Thai may get TG916/TG917 back onto a non-repatriation status. There are still many Thais trying to get back from the UK.

    2. At present, “THAI NATIONALS” residing in the UAE can only travel back to Thailand via repatriation flights organized by the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Royal Thai Consulate-General in Dubai. The next repatriation flight to Bangkok which is being organized will be on 9 September 2020 by Etihad Airways, EY 406, as previously announced.

We’ll hear about the Emirates flight soon enough I imagine. I’d like to know about it too. It could prove to be some very useful information for anyone else wishing to get back.

I've posted this on a tread in the Covid-19 sub-forum.
