We are talking about the retirement and not the marriage extension.
Not my area of expertise but there are loads of threads in this sub forum of recent experiences. I don't know of anyone who has a Non O that is not legally married.

I'm just posting freely available information. Have I called it a scam, no. You have called it half a scam, yes. I don't want to want to get into an argument with you as we have many overlapping agreements but if there is one thing that has become even more obvious over the last few weeks never mind months is the insularity of the rulers of this country. Just look at the STV shambles. Why create a scheme that is easily bettered else where on coverage and cost ?

Covid insurance is one of the items a farang needs to get a CoE to enter Thailand. If you are Thai not needed but I do not know if thats only for authorised repatriation flights.

Agree with mjnaus. Just been on the site. 6400 THB for 90 days visiting Thai family. I suppose the question is will they only accept this insurance for the issuing of the CoE and not the cheaper alternatives.

Is that an O visa from the UK ?
Yes. You have to be married or a parent to a Thai national. There is no minimum age for this visa.
I will also point out that the Non O is issued by the Department of Immigration and the Non O-A is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The NON O is not meant to be a retirement visa but many people get this visa and then obtain 1 year extensions. Loads of discussions in this sub forum.
-
Posted earlier on a private facebook group this is for Non O deniers. It took under a week to get the visa and the CoE was posted within 24 hours after all the documents had been sent.
"ive just got my Non O visa so now is it i can book my flight and hotel and insursnce ????"
Another guy posted this which may be helpful to some people -
"I’ve just tried to apply again for my non o visa online and I got a message saying you’ve reached your maximum of 10 attempts does that mean I can no longer proceed?? Please advise need help thanks"
"Some people accidentally start a new one each time and the max is 10. Each time you work on completing the application... click on the pending box..select the same application and carry on again."

Yes, Being married to a Thai I always gravitate to that amount.

Can't buy fuel outside Thailand?
Unpaid landing fees outside Thailand?
Risk of bailiffs sticking notices on aircraft outside Thailand?
Probably safer to stick to flogging donuts!
You are not far of on the baliffs suggestion.
Thai leased 4 A350-900 from a company called Amadeo Air 4 Plus. I'm pretty sure these are HS-THF/G/H/J
Because this company is quoted on the London Stock Exchange they have to release info on important events which can effect the company.
This was released in May
"Further to its announcement of 17 March and 6 April 2020 regarding the lease of four Airbus A350 aircraft to Thai Airways ("Thai") and Thai's request for assistance received by the Company, the Company has been negotiating with Thai regarding a partial deferral of its scheduled lease rental payments for a six month period commencing in April 2020 (the "Rental Payment Deferral") with such deferred payments to then be made good with interest over the following three years."
The referred deferral ends in December hence my comment on cash problems and Amadeo have stated that they have had to make a cash contingency in case they have to repossess these aircraft.
And it isn't just donuts they are selling. Thai were a 5 star airline when I first used them in 1983. Years of mismanagement has left them in this state.

Finally tracked down the rumour I'd heard a couple of months ago that Thai could not pay for fuel.
investvine.com/cash-strapped-thai-airways-facing-troubles-on-international-flights
Thailand’s national carrier Thai Airways, which is currently under bankruptcy protection as the airline’s liquidity eroded under the coronavirus pandemic, is feeling the heat on the few international flights it is still operating.
According to insiders, a repatriation flight under the flight number TG923 from Frankfurt to Bangkok on August 10, which arrived earlier in the day from Bangkok to pick up around 220 passengers, was held back for around nine hours because of problems paying the plane to be refueled at Frankfurt’s international airport.
Scheduled to take off on August 10, 9pm, the aircraft started on 5.45am the next morning after the fuel bill was somehow settled. According to passengers’ Twitter accounts, they were not allowed to leave the plane during the hour-long delay and had to sit there the entire night.

The talk is that Thai will run out of cash in December unless it gets a large injection from somewhere or more large staff reductions. Don't forget that the Thai government is no longer the majority shareholder.

TG916/917 LHR is now every Sunday since 4 Oct and not just 3 times a month. It has been directly bookable since late September as the Embassy no longer collates the names of people wanting repatriation and sending the names to Thai to complete the booking process. Now you book the flight and then sort out the CoE etc with the embassy. Non Thais have been moving over to the ME3 carriers and Lufthansa as CoEs were formally being issued on these carriers from 25 Sept, Emirates was earlier. Still no news on EVA flying LHR - BKK. BA has been rumoured to be lobbying the CAAT for permission to resume passengers flights and has been operating cargo only flights regularly since April.
For months there has been a tsunami of complaints from Thais in the UK about the limited number of flights from London and the monthly contest on who can get into the Embassy web site to reserve a seat on the repat flights when booking opened. The September flights were full within 5 minutes. I managed to get in quick. One of the flights in August had 34 no shows from 260 bookings due to problems with the process and particularly with payment to Thai Air. This could only be done via bank transfer.

NON-O is issued by the Immigration Department and they have the authority to turn that into an annual immigration visa. Most farangs that I know and are married to a Thai use this visa. there are no age restrictions as far as I'm aware and I know one sub 50 year old who got an ME from Savannaket last year after they stopped issuing the MEs elsewhere.
NON-O-A is issued by the Ministry of Foreign affairs and is issued to 50+ year olds.

Which clearly states that entry can be based for family members of a Thai national. So you are saying that people are lying for some obscure reason.
"O" To visit family or friends in Thailand, voluntary job, retirement, medical treatment, to attend judicial process, to work as diplomat's housekeeper For applicants aged 50 and over who wish to stay in Thailand for an extended period without the intention of working.

So send me the link that say O retirement Visa is allowed to fly back into Thailand?
Its a private Facebook group for UK/Thai couples. The guy got it on being a parent to a Thai child and he says it took him 4 days to get it. Other people have also posted similar. Why do not believe this ? Where is the announcement that Non-O visas are not being issued ? Non-O and Non-OA are very different visas.
Non-O currently obtainable for family members of Thai nationals and has been continually issued during the pandemic. The problem has always been getting a flight into BKK and thus a CoE. Since the relaxing of the issuing of CoE for airlines other than Thai, as announced by the Thai Embassy London on 25 Sept, the number of people wanting just to visit spouse and/or children does appear to have increased. Booking a return flight on is now much more practical.

The other thing she's worried about if she uses her expired Thai passport is a possible problem checking in. In the past she would just check in with her UK passport and as visa-exempt entry was in force, she didn't have a problem but obviously now that would raise a red flag. Even if she did get a CoE, trying to explain the whole situation to a check-in attendant could be tricky.
Does anyone know if they still have a representative of the Thai Embassy present at the airport checking that everyone boarding a repatriation flight meets the requirements as was reported a while back?
First use the Thai Embassy's Facebook page for info. The procedure for a repat flight has changed and since Oct 4 the Thai flights must be booked online and then you go through the normal procedure. The "open for booking lottery" on the embassy web site has stopped. Note that it was the case that Thai Air was not taking credit card payments. I don't know if this is still the case. A direct bank transfer to their UK bank was supplied. You have to fly Thai to get SQ. Only a fit to fly certificate is needed for Thais and this can be done on the phone, which is what my wife did from one of the embassy's suggested clinics.
https://www.facebook.com/ThaiEmbLondon/
Page down for relevant posts. This is and has been for many months the normal way of getting repat info. If you have a query just post and someone, not an embassy official, will respond. There is a lot of info there.
Airlines normally accept expired passports, up to 6 months, if the passenger is flying back to the country of origin.
The Thai Embassy does not have a rep at LHR check-in anymore. Queue early as the flights are full and people are travelling from all over the UK and Ireland. My wife started queuing at 4pm and she was about 30% into the queue. Note that Heathrow was trying to stop non passengers from entering the terminal to avoid congestion, I was pushing the trolley so I made sure I looked like a normal flyer.

O or OA?
Just checked on the Facebook group and Os have been issued. This was from yesterday. With the O you used to be able to extend for another 60 days, no idea now.

You may want to check which airlines allow small dogs to travel in the cabin. Our elder daughter and son in law moved to Shanghai last year and took their dog with them. She is a shiatsu poodle cross and was small enough to put in a cage which fits under the seat. They flew with Lufthansa from London to Shanghai. I got the impression this was not uncommon with east Asian flights.

"Red Cross" parcels from relatives are checked by the hotel.

So why isn't royal Thailand embassy in London doing the same?
Because its a different situation to the US. TG916/917 flies every Sunday. Thai does not fly to the US and so there is no need to organise tickets on other airlines. The system in the UK changed a few weeks ago and you now can book direct with Thai then get your COE etc from the Embassy. For farangs COEs are also now given for flights by Emirates, Qatar, Etihad, Lufthansa, Singapore and I think KLM. BA have been trying to get permission from CAAT but so far no go. From a private Facebook page I'm in for Brits wanting to get to Thailand the number has certainly travelling has increased since the COE issuing change.
Social distancing on the TG917 appears to have been discontinued as this pic from yesterdays flight shows. In flight entertainment also appears to be still inoperative as its was when my wife flew in September.
Ten airlines operating or set to start - THAI not one of them

Thats an interesting photo. I thought I knew my aircraft, it looks like the cockpit of a Handley Page Victor.
Is that in Thailand or is that perhaps the West Indies looking at the architecture. ? Many years ago there was a good thread in the Isaan section about places where aircraft were being used for things like restaurants.
