I get the feeling a "slap on the wrist" will be inflicted and the alleged perpetrators will be set free to do it again. IMHO, 6 months in the Bangkok Hilton should be their just reward!

Or years, depending on the "statute of limitations" for engineering disasters causing death. It'll give em plenty of time to get the abacus warmed up and find someone capable of using it. -

Restaurant Owner Loses Nearly 200,000 Baht to M-Flow Payment Scam
bdenner replied to Georgealbert's topic in Bangkok News
It's a little annoying but now my Australian Credit Card provider (via it's app) sends me a message if the transaction is in any way suspect or out of the ordinary. A simple "Is this you?" Has protected me/the bank twice now although on one occasion I was required to get a new card. A simple process. -
AIS Takes Lead in Cleaning Up Thailand's Messy Power Poles
bdenner replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Too little to late. Looking across the upper balcony of my home in the rice paddies of Udon Thani I can count 65 coms cable's of which I know for a fact 20 are obsolete - olde copper WIFI connections. One of em, mine. Only once in 23 years have I seem em pull out an old, redundant fibre multycore. -

British Man Arrested in Thailand After 25-Year Visa Overstay
bdenner replied to snoop1130's topic in Chiang Mai News
Some time ago I had a friend caught after 4 years + overstay (I won't go into his circumstances but he was grassed up by an acquaintance) . He spent one night in the slammer, before the Udon Thani court next morning and because he plead guilty the max fine (at the time was 20K Baht) was halved to 10K and no black ban. He was transported to Nong Khai and allowed to cross the boarder to the Thai embassy in Vientiane, obtained a long term visitors visa and back home the following day. After some time he finished up on 12 month O visa extensions. -
Bangkok to Roll Out 1,520 Electric Buses by Year's End
bdenner replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Along with the 1000 or so fire fighting appliances shipped in the early 2000s. They rotted on the wharf because the vehicles, made in Thailand, were sent to Sweden (stand corrected) for fit out and Customs wanted a ridiculous import tarrif on there return. = Wackers!!! -
Ice Cream Vendor Scammed with Fake 1,000 Baht Note
bdenner replied to webfact's topic in Central Thailand News
Yes I agree, but I had been caught out by the sodium vapor lights at BKK airport. It's 4 AM and paid a 300 Baht taxi fare I dragged out of my wallet, the driver looked at me strangely but said nothing. Was later I discovered I had stuffed the 1000 note given to me by my hotel (key deposit) amongst the 100s and they look much alike in the lighting especially if one is in a hurry. Lesson Learnt! -

Would have been very disappointed had he tried it on TW of 24 years. Wears more modesty protection than my girlfriends in the 60s-70s with their "leg-ins". Try getting them off her in the back seat of your car! -
