If you want a multi entry Savanakhet Laos is the place to go.

The letter just asks them to issue you a Visa.

You can apply for a 60 day or 12 month extension.

12 months needs 400,000 baht in a Thai bank for 2 months or 40,000 monthly income.

So the 60 day extension does not require 400,000 baht in the bank?

If anyone else knows of anyone having applied for a non-O in Phnom Penh, I'd like to know what their experience was.

Ban Phu Nam Ron has been closed. Some may be open on the 27th but not sure at this time.

You can do another 30 day extension if you are on the list of affected countries.

If not you would need a letter from your embassy requesting it.

I have two passports, but since I entered on my US passport, I assume I can forget about using the second passport for an extension.

@Nayetare you doing a border bounce or a visa run for a 30 day visa exempt? I rented a car and did my bounce for my Non-O on Sunday, 15 March. There were no problems. In past a visa exempt at Ban Phunamron was no problem, but someone else will need to chime in to give you something on that. I was the only Westerner there from 12:15 until 14:00.

    Thanks, AgMech.

It's for a 30 day visa exempt, but now it seems they are closing all the borders, so probably cancelling the trip.

  4. First of all, does anyone know where I can find the most up to date information on what nationalities are currently able to do border runs?

Also, I had the idea of renting a car and do a border bounce at Ban Phu Nam Ron (Myanmar) on the 27th (US passport). How realistic is that?

Or maybe even use my scooter (which I've used for a few longer road trips).

I've also now heard that it may be possible to get a second extension (I'm on my first) with a letter from the embassy, which I would prefer since I'm going to the embassy next week anyway.

However, does that work for visitors on a visa exempt entry?

No its universal. We arrived at Bangrak Amphur at 8.30am last Monday and were told that they were full. Another English guy I met there arrived at 7am - having been knocked back by several Amphurs the previous week - he just scraped through.

Apparently they are now only accepting 5 foreign/Thai marriage registrations per day and many are pre booked.  We were given a list of other Amphurs in the Bangkok Metropolitan area and eventually found one that could register us that day - lucky as we were flying to Vietnam for my marriage visa that night!

Would you mind sharing what Amphur that was?

  6. The Amphur apparently requires the foreign person to state a profession when getting married in Thailand. Let's say the person satisfies the 400k in the bank requirement but works online and doesn't have a Thai work permit. Can such a person state the truth in their application without fear of rejection, or worse? Are there any options for such a person? Or should they simply give up hopes of living in Thailand with their spouse?

  7. I'm currently on a visa exempt extension which expires end of March, trying to get married to a Thai lady, but all the district offices are so backed up they apparently need several weeks to verify my documents before I can register a marriage, so can I leave Thailand while my "application" is being processed? I have quite a history of tourist entries, so I worry that coming back on another tourist visa may be met with rejection. Or will they be lenient if I tell them I'm going to get married to a Thai? Any workarounds?
