  1. I am planning on applying for a tourist visa using my second passport. On the application form one has to state "Date of a previous visit to Thailand", but if I answer truthfully, it will become apparent that I am now using a different passport. While that may technically be legal, will the consular clerk not question why the stated date does not match the one in my passport?

Also, if I am renting an apartment in Thailand, is it risky to state that as my "Place to stay in Thailand", or should I put the name of a hotel since I am supposed to be a tourist?

Lastly, are there any embassies/consulates in SE Asia to avoid for tourist visas? I am thinking of going to either Phnom Penh or Vientiane, though I just noticed the visa applications are "usually processed within 72 hours" in PP, which seems a little long. Am I likely to get my visa faster elsewhere?

  2. America is embarking on a campaign to dominate planet earth. The war that America is fighting in the Middle East is about taking the oil from the Arabs ? No ?

Please name me one time that America has taken anyone's oil whether by war or other means. Your tinfoil hat is leaking.

Religion can be a good thing if it's an individual thing and it causes someone to strive to be better. The problem with religion is that some man gets ahold of it and then goes for control of other people.

I was going to ask you how old you are but, then realized, that's not an excuse.

And please don't come back at me to site you instances.

You've got a lot of "learnin" to do...

    facepalm.gif

That's a great way to argue your case.

Hey, space aliens are currently planning to conquer planet Earth and enslave all of humanity. If you think otherwise, you have a lot of learning to do facepalm.gif

  3. This is nonsensical. So you have to sign up your girlfriend to the site, and then

her other sponsors have to sign her up too so you can see them ? What the

bleep are the odds of that ?? Instead, buy a iphone. Put in tracking software,

and then give it to her with a big smile. Problem solved....

This was also my immediate thought.

There are other ways to keep track too. A lot depends if she is a long term g/f.

Yet, if you met her in a bar, would you really expect her to go home and stay with her parents while you are away?

I explained one time to a bar girl about hidden tracking software in an iphone.

She was amazed as she had no idea. I laughingly told her to never ever accept

an iphone as a present from a farang, and if she did the trick was to take it to

a shop and do a complete reset on it....

    Whose side are you on?!

  4. My wife is Thai and I am a farang. We had a marriage ceremony in her village for her mother (she wanted to show-off to family/friends) and I gave her mother $100K as it is a Thai custom (like it or not).

My wife and I agreed to $100K and no more. $100K is reasonable and I never saw any of it back.

    cheesy.gif , $100,000..............cheesy.gif .................w00t.gif ............Crazy.............coffee1.gif

A Lot of guys use the '$' when they mean the '฿' ... it sort of looks the same.

    .

Aside from the vertical strikethrough, they look nothing like each other, in my opinion. Bon of a sitch...

  5. My answer is... If i were cheating on my husband I will pay husband double of SinSod for divorce because the guy who can made me cheat on my husband will have to be 10times better than him.

PS. I will go with my new husband and give him cash infront of everyone. And say"Tip 4millions baht for you"

    :-)

Thank you very much. You have proven once again why I would never marry a woman of any nationality.

Is this why you have the word "cheater" in your username?

What it takes to get a woman away from her husband is simply to have a lot more money. Nice.

Who dont want money? My answer is maybe animal.

"Cheater" on my username? You will never knew what this mean because of your usernane...Nerver sure

    :-)

This may be an alien concept to you, but to some people, loyalty is actually more important than money.

  6. I think it needs to be a mega thrust quake to really generate a tsunami.

Like 8+ or something like that.

The Richter scale is log10, so an 8 magnitude is 10 times greater than 7 magnitude.

    Greatest recorded quakes . . .

What's critical is whether the earth quake happens in a subduction zone or not.

So then poster, you think a 14 year old is mature enough to make big decisions like that ? Wow, you have a lot of growing up yourself.

If it's truly consensual, I see no problem with it, aside from all the problems that come with virtually all marriages.

Nayet, As I am sure you and your pals Jimmy, Gary and Rolf have held regular discussions on this topic, it would be difficult to change your mind.

For the rest of the readers, lets just remember Paedophilia is a touchy subject!

My post was not an endorsement of the above or any other relationship/marriage between an adult and a child. I am also not suggesting that we can blindly trust the word of a child who says a relationship or marriage is consensual. To suggest that I am a pedophile, or that I am giving the thumbs up to the likes of Rolf Harris is obviously a knee-jerk reaction and not the result of rational thought. I am fairly confident that my feelings toward child molesters are not much different from yours.

Seems to most of us that was an endorsement of the relationship. Did you not say "as long as it was consenual I don't see a problem"? The girl is 14 now and they have been dating for 3 years since she was what 11? That is way below the law for legal consensual sex in Thailand and therefore statutory rape.In the case of the 14 year old even Thai law says she must be 15 years old to be legally able to give consent. Before that its statutory RAPE. Each country makes thier own rules on what the age of consent is. Thailand 15, certain prefectures in Japan 13 and different states in USA have different age.

The rules are made because the child is not considered mature enough to make that decision , would be very easy to suduce a child with gifts, money affection thats why rules are made.

How can I endorse it if I don't know whether the girl really wanted to get married? Like I said in another post, it's hard to know how she truly felt about it, regardless of what it says in the news article.

What's your point anyway? That you would have been okay with it had they married in Japan?

Some may be mature enough, some may not. The point is, it's not for me to say. I have seen some 50-year-olds who don't seem mature enough to make such decisions, but does that mean anyone else should have the right to prevent them from getting married?

  10. "In Thai, they say that the women are the back legs of the elephant. I agree. If they stopped working, the country would grind to a halt."

I asked my (Thai) girlfriend about this expression, and according to her it means that Thai women follow their men, not that they are supporting them. But she may be wrong.

  11. I am considering moving to Cambodia. My general impression is that the infrastructure, including the Internet, is generally not as reliable in Cambodia as it is in Thailand. Since I need reliable high speed Internet access for my work, I am wondering if moving to Phnom Penh might be a bad idea?

  12. Great work by the British legal team and France for accepting it's citizens religious right.

It's sad to see how only few limited shallow minded people passes racial comment over other religion. Let us learn to respect people and their religion. It's a matter if their faith and belief, we have no right to criticize their belief.

Yes, we absolutely do have that right, and while we should tolerate peaceful Muslims / adherents of other religions, by no means are we obligated to show them any particular respect for their deeply irrational beliefs.

  13. Going back to Bangkok from Pattaya yesterday, I was trying to find a safe route where I could legally ride back to Bangkok via Samut Prakahn, and the next thing I knew I was on the expressway. Knowing that riding a motorbike on the expressway is illegal, I took the next exit but was asked by a toll booth attendant to pull over, and her colleague came over, jotted down my license plate number and then let me go.

I asked them why they had to write down my license place number, but I only understood the part where they said that motorbikes aren't allowed on the expressway. Has this ever happened to anyone of you guys? Do they just give the info to the police so they can track me down and fine me?

  14. if it experiences the same symptoms hot or cold I would say the start clutch or drive belts are slipping, when the slip happens does the engine rpm rise? When you slow back down after taking a ride or stop at a light, does it re-occur at low speeds? You have some adjustment to these belts, but if they are done then they are replaceable. If you can be a little more specific then it makes it easier to give you a guide as to where to look and what to do. The devil is in the details.

    Oz

Sorry for being unclear. It only happens at low speeds / starting from a standstill during the first few minutes before the thing gets warmed up. The problem goes away after a few minutes of operation. The rpm does not spike, because the jerking motions are so small that I wouldn't even call it slippage. It's actually more like the bike is shaking.

Judging by Paulchiangmai's comments, it is something I'll just have to live with. No big deal, but it was nice when it wasn't there. Oh well. Thanks anyway for for your input.

  15. Usually it is dust in the clutch but as you had it at the dealers recently, there maybe a question. Do you ever run it at speed or do you ride around a lot in traffic? Give it a good run somewhere and see.

I ride mostly in city traffic, but even in Bangkok, I sometimes reach speeds of around 80 - 90 km/h. However, I don't quite understand what that is going to tell me?

  16. pretty sure the culprit will be Auto trans (oil level low). Warming up the bike gets the flow going with the heat. there may be a blockage in there. Does it do the jerking even when starting hot?

    Oz

Pardon my ignorance, but are you referring to the motor oil? Yes, it does not jerk when starting hot, but the dealer changed the oil recently, and things did not improve. Assuming it's blockage, how would I deal with that?
