Leave out the Chinese and you see a figure remarkably lower. Lao people are mostly boarder crossers, but counted as tourists, some of the Malaysian, too.
*Old* and former cash cow tourists like the Europeans are definitely less and less in Thailand. For many reasons.

Is he is on "only" 18 beers a days, he can get sober without medical help, as long as there are no other medical conditions.
It will be 4 or 5 tough days to go through the detox period but he can cover this with some legal light downers ( sleeping aids ).
After that... as the others said: activities from dusk till dawn at least for some weeks, AA may help but isn't for everybody.
A real good friend ( hard to find ) can even do better.

GF is not loud with me, sometimes with others, never uses the speaker phone and dislikes loud music, mine must be different ?
Whilst I never understand this speaker phone thing, I am happy here, as the volume of life is not regulated buy b.s. laws, as in most European or other Western countries. I see it as a kind of freedom and enjoy this freedom, together with the locals.

Raising an unwanted child also is not the best for a child's life. Talking of experience made.
Raising her with her family only, somewhere in the middle of nowhere maybe, must not be better either.
Difficult, specially as she is alteady at 4.5 months, where abortion might be difficult.
What about taking her to your country for giving birth and than going through a maybe easier adoption procedure ?
