  1. Yes, we have a long list of injuries of starters :(

Reus, Hummels, Sahin, Bender and Kuba. I think our left back, Schmelzer, is still injured as well. That makes it 6 out of our 11 regular starters missing :(.

But, we have a pretty decent Bench too. Either way, it'll be a great game.

  2. Welbeck was a really good buy for 16m imo and really stupid business by United and van Gaal. The dutchman's sounding more of a tool every time he opens his trap. All he's done is strengthened one of the two possible top four drop outs. what an idiot.

Same for us. We got Kagawa back from Manu ( for 8 million ). He played his first game yesterday and did a wonderful pass that led to the 1:0. the second goal he scored himself.

See you guys Tuesday night / Wednesday morning ;).

Unfortunately without Reus, but hopefully with Hummels

  3. Fair enough.

I live in Ubon Ratchathani and have been living here for almost a year now. Great City in my opinion since it has pretty much everything that Bangkok has...just on a smaller scale.

There is an Airport, Train station and Bus station. The airport servers close to 1 million passengers per year and has been steadily growing in the past years. 3 major airlines fly the Bangkok - Ubon Route several times per day, with flight time only being 1 hour. Air Asia, Nok Air and Thai Airways / Thai Smile. There is a fourth Airline, Kan Air, that just last month started offering two flights per week to Chiang Mai.

Ubon city has a population of about 200k and is one of the largest cities in Isaan. The Province Ubon Ratchathani has closer to 2 million people.

I have HEARD ( can not confirm ) that in and surrounding Ubon there are about 5000 registered foreigners ( data from ~2011 and given by Phibun Immigration ). From being here about a year, I would say that approx 80% are retirees, 15% Teachers or exchange students and here for only a few months to a year. and then probably only 5% that work here. And with foreigners, I mean Westerners...not foreigners from neighboring countries. Also, I don't think this number fluctuates much throughout the year, since it doesn't seem to be a high / low season here.

As for the Thai population here in Ubon, in my opinion, seem to be very friendly. However, their English skills or lack thereof leaves lots of space for improvement. Also, I think there is a larger number of young population, since Ubon has an unusual high number of Colleges / Universities.

I hope some of this information helped. Some of the information is also available on Wikipedia.

  4. Guys guys guys...why fight and insult over this?

There will be people that are against it. Good for them and nothing needs to be changed. Main reason they're against it, from what I understood, is because it slows the game down

There are people that are for it ( I am ). BUT not the way it has been proposed. Main reason we're for it, because there are many significant wrong calls.

Why not think outside the box. Work on a solution from different angles and just throw some ideas out...that's way more effective than insulting and not listening to the other side.

Here just an idea. Since a main concern is, that it slows down the game....

Let's say a player gets fouled in box and is not awarded a penalty and the game goes on. The coach clearly saw it was a foul. He goes to the fourth official and wants a review ( keep in mind, the game is still going without interruption ). The fourth official then buzzes the FIFTH official to review the questionable penalty.

It turns out the coach is right and he should have been awarded a penalty.

What now? The fifth official lets the ref on the pitch know that the defender committed a foul and wasn't "caught". The ref now sends the player off the field for....let's say...10 minutes. After 10 minutes he's allowed back on. And everything continues as normal.

Again, this is just an idea. I know it's not great and could use some or quite a bit of improvement, but Maybe this just gave another member a better idea of what can be done without slowing the game down.

  5. First I'd heard about this 'rule' too, but as the article says the rule is there to stop clubs putting pressure on their players to take retirement as a means of getting their full service exclusively for the club/avoiding injuries. I guess a cynical organisation like FIFA expects others in football to behave cynically and frankly they are probably right! Can see the sense in making it an objective for the broader good of football to have international team football maintained as a showpiece for the game.

aaah, haven't seen it from that angle. Unfortunately, I guess, it makes sense. Though it seems like something just wasn't thought through properly. I'll have to read the article closely.

  6. I did a quick google search and the charges for Ribery and Benzema were dropped in January of this year.

    Back on topic: <deleted>?

You HAVE to play for nationalteam or risk a club suspension? Never heard of this and wish I never did hear of it quite frankly. If this is true, its gotta be one of the stupidest things I have heard of...and I have been living in Thailand for over a year now.

  7. Ok, in all seriousness now...I am not mocking or being sarcastic or anything like that:

Do you guys really think that the situation is that severe that they monitor a forum / Internet ( let alone English Forum ) and go find the IP of a random guy that said it seems like its an inside job? And after getting his IP go to his residence to arrest and charge him with...what? Then throw the foreigner in an overcrowded jail?

Or is it that you think they will do things that doesn't quite follow the law?

I would be very interested why all so serious about the situation that he posted. If it is too delicate to answer here, a PM would be appreciated if its not too much trouble xhuh.png.pagespeed.ic.6VcCaNwNXg.png

  8. But, not sure whether Moyes would have been so ready to off-load Wellbeck. I know it's another if and but. But Wellbeck could prove to be one of the bargains of the season. If so, questions will be asked.

Off topic, but Welbeck is moderately average. Just watched the England game btw.

Top clubs need top players. Good luck Arsene.

    I strongly disagree.

Top clubs need a TEAM. This is usually accomplished by a mix of older experienced and young talented players and a good coach.

You can have 11 TOP PLAYERS vs a TEAM of 11 no names and have an even match.

  9. I haven't followed / watched tennis enough to have seen that situation, but Tennis: the Pitch is smaller, there are only 2 players. their coaches and 1? ref. The game flow is also interrupted every few seconds.

In football you have 22 players, 4 refs and 2 coaches....plus anywhere from 50-100k fans whistling their opinion :).

What I am tying to say is, that it probably is quite a bit harder to implement it in football in comparison to Tennis.

I still believe the TV replay should only be used Goal / Penalty situation. Those are two really important and most of the time deciding game changers. The refs overall do a decent job handing out yellow/red cards and most red cards are given later in the game, which won't have that big of an impact as a goal / penalty error.

  10. I can't believe he is going for another term!!! Before getting new technology into place, fifa should set an age limit and minimum IQ requirement for becoming president. AFTER that we shall talk about new rules / technology.

I like the idea of TV Review, but not the way it is proposed.

It should be only allowed in a questionable goal / penalty situation.

Let's say a player scores, but was most likely offside and the ref did not notice. The coach should be allowed ONE Review per game.

I don't want to see a coach allowed a review for a tackle that should have been yellow/red carded or corner kick vs goalie kick etc.

  11. Well, maybe I shouldn't post here, since I don't follow Manu or Premier League for that matter closely, but a few things I did notice a follow:

For Moyes: I believe to hear him saying before the season started, that he will need at least a season to be able to start showing success. He didn't start the season by saying he wants to win a title. It cant be easy for ANYBODY to take over a club that has been managed by a single person for....how long? 20 years?

Against Moyes: With that kind of team, I think an outstanding coach should have at least gotten an uefa Cup Position. Also, what the heck did they do to Kagawa? He is a FANTASTIC Player. I remember during the Dortmund games, prior to his move to Manu, he was a key player to Dortmunds success. Sometimes 2-3 Big German defenders were around him, where you couldnt see him or the ball and he came out of that with the ball. At Manu, when he played, he was put on the wrong position. Glad he's back home...THANK YOU for that LVG.

Given all this, I think he should have gotten at least until the winter break of this season.

There are lots of reports on this forum about getting them at the consulate in Savannakhet Laos.

You just need your marriage certificate (plus a copy), signed and dated copies of your wife's house book and ID card, No financial proof is asked for.

so am i right to say they dont need the house book just a copy is ok

A copy is good enough. Just make sure your wife signs the copy ( and her ID )

across the road from the consulate the people/agents there will fill in an application form, photocopy your recently obtained laos visa in your pp [needed with you application] and check everything is correct for 50 baht. but make sure you too check what they've applied for as last time they incorrectly put in 'single non-o' which wasn't what i wanted. that was at the old consulate not sure if the new consulate is open yet.

any idea on what time in the morning this place open please

If I remember correctly, 9am ( Savannakhet ). Make sure to hand in your application before 11am, so you can pick it up in the afternoon....at 3pm I think.

    Edit:

Read this thread. It should have all the info ( current ) you need.

  13. Getting any office chair from Homepro or similar stores is a complete waste of time. They're all crap, the wheels break, the cushioning goes out of shape, the controls don't work properly - don't waste your time. I've gone through about 4 over the past few years.

So I finally bought a real 'high end' one.

I went for the Herman Miller 'Aeron' model which can be purchased from the following company : http://www.chanintrliving.com/locations

They have a special offer on the chair right now - it's only about 40k Baht, I paid 45k for mine last year https://aeron.chanintrliving.com/

I ordered it in the Siam Paragon mall store in Bangkok and got them to deliver it to Hua Hin, it arrived on the date I gave them and it's perfect, it's the most comfortable desk type chair I've ever used.

It might seem expensive for a chair but it really is comfortable, comes with a 12 year warranty and they're not known for breaking.

Eveything is adjustable - the arms, tilt, back support, etc. It's heavy duty and good to use for 10 hours or more each day should you want to sit at a desk for that long.

    attachicon.gifaeron.JPG

I have the exact same chair. I bought it last year in the US. It cost me ~$650 which is about 20,000 Baht. If you buy that chair, it might be worth looking into buying it online from the US and having it shipped.

Another great feature of the chair is the mesh back. If you lean your back to the back of the chair on a regular office/leather chair and stay like that for a longer period of time, your back can start to get warm / sweaty easy. Same is for the sitting part. The mesh lets the air flow.

  14. Yeah, thats new. Maybe a sign of more things to come :)

Also, I noticed a building on the ringroad going up. Right passed homemart straight across of the labor department. I can't confirm 100% but it seems Like BMW is opening dealership there. The reason...and only reason I suspect its BMW is because there are huge advertisements of BMW and Mini's on that construction Site.

  15. Chelsea can snooze their way to Christmas.

I didn't want Borussia (again - isn't this the 3rd year in a row?) and Chic didn't want a Turk.

Not the best of luck there. Still - I suspect Kloppo aint exactly celebratingbiggrin.png

Yeah, Arsenal wasn't on our wishlist either. I am looking forward to some great games in that group.

I do think that this year there was no real "Group of death". I would guess the most difficult group this drawing is Group E. Where Bayern will probably finish 1st and the other 3 battle for 2nd position.

  16. That is correct. It cost me 5,000 Baht to get the Visa. And it cost me $30 to get the Visa on Arrival for Laos at the border. If you don't have dollars ( exact change and clean / crisp bills strongly recommended ), the Visa on arrival for Laos will cost 1500 Baht.

As for Chaeng Wattana: I tried that option first, since it is the closest immigration from where my wife currently lives. I had a stack....and I mean a STACK of documents with me and an exact duplicate of that stack. I wanted to use the 40k Baht per month income route ( work permit ) instead of the 400k in the bank account for 2 months. The immigration lady who was actually very nice said:

    1. Wrong immigration office. I need to go Nonthaburi, since thats where we officially live

    2. Missing pictures of me at my work place, with staff

    3. Need a document why I can not produce the form PND 1 ( income tax from last year ). I only started working this year and that is why I do not have the PND1. But they want it in writing from the revenue department

    4. Wife has to be present. She couldn't be present because her mother unfortunately is on her death bed and can not be left alone for a minute. I did have a letter from the hospital with me for support, but that didn't matter to them.

Anyways, after leaving Chaeng Wattana, I went to Nonthanuri Immigration. Where I was assisted by an unfriendly older immigration officer that spoke little english

    1. Where Wife? Wife come here too! After showing him the hospital letter: Wife come too!

    2. Then he wanted the documents ( I believe they are called PND90...the one a business files every month ) stamped by the revenue department. Which is in connection with my 40k per month income proof.

    3. Letter from the Revenue Department why I did not file last years tax returns ( PND 1 ). Though again, last year I did not work yet.

    4. And a friendly reminder on his part again: Bring Wife!

Anyways, since I had to go back to Ubon to the revenue department anyways, I decided to " screw them" and went to Suvannakhet instead. So much LESS hassle.

In your case however, Rinnie, it may be a little bit more easy. I heard it is easier to obtain a Non-O Marriage Visa for foreign wives married to Thai Husbands. However, I can not confirm that for sure. Maybe somebody else knows more. And with somebody else, I mean Ubonjoe :P

  17. I make about 80,000 baht monthly, and I am doing that for at least the 4 years I am in Thailand permanently.

Since you are working in Thailand you should be able to get a one-year extension of stay for the reason of employment. No need to get married for this.

That is only if he has a company or works for a registered company. If he is employed by a sole proprietor, he will not get an extension of stay. At least they wouldn't extend my B-Visa, because I am employed by a Sole Proprietor and not a company.
