No Commerce Commission with an impartial and powerful ombudsman for for misleading advertising in LOS. As Axl Rose would say/sing; "Welcome to the Jungle."

Er - HIV doesn't go away with 50 baht of antibiotics. Neither does genital herpes.
Nor genital warts. Not sure about hepatitis but the treatment is not a 50 baht one.

Start a file in a notes ap in your phone and keep less important things like this in it. Also like your one card number in case wife has it when you need to fill up with fuel. No bank account or password for sensitive things, of course. I use ColorNote.

Closing the bar will no doubt piss a lot of people off
Plenty of bars in Pattaya. Only the staff will be inconvenienced. The owners are otherwise distracted at the moment.

Sure, but your deposit does not get returned.
But it is more fun making that deposit. If done with regard to W.H.O. recommendations you could even uplift your deposit and take it away with you after the transaction is complete.

There must be wardens, drivers, cleaners, cooks and bottle washers but less than 10% are guards. what are the others doing, any suggestions?
Cleaners cooks and bottle washers are usually prisoners too.
Sounds like a few cushy non-jobs might exist in the system.

A pic I took today in Kamala.
Another useless governor in a long line of useless governors. It's tough to tell how ineffective he is because he hasn't done a single thing but I'm going to go out on a limb and say he may be the worst.
Lip service to the ever-worsening quality of Phuket's surrounding ocean water.
Looking at the brown ocean that is Kamala Beach these days, even worse than Patong with topsoil laden water pouring into the ocean from all of Kamala's klongs. This beach is going to be permanently nasty. Polluted with sewage and topsoil runoff.
But keep approving these unneeded condo developments, Guv. Useless.
Let's guess...how much of Phuket's sewage actually gets treated? 50%?
Another poster claims it is just 5 to 10%. Even then, connection to a sewer line may lead to the sea and not a treatment plant. Big catchup required in much of Thailand to build waste water treatment facilities and refuse disposal facilities. Additionally, in Thailand what they call septic tanks are frequently not really septic tanks, just storage and leach tanks where no septic treatment occurs.

Why not give burglars lock smithing courses? Just not near where I live.
NIMBY.

The number of guys I know of who were told all the advice and were still seen in a gold shop with a BG within 3 days of landing here on their first visit.

A word from the wise. Sometimes they are indestinguishable. Many girls in retail, hotel reception, even office girls do "favours for sailors" as Blackadder and Baldrick put it. The number of guys I have met who tried to do straight dating here and found out (somewhat later, like after marriage even) that the girl was a freelance opportunist. It is a fact that it is very difficult as a visitor meeting decent girls here for a number of reasons. Being a resident changes it somewhat. I have also personally heard of more guys including myself, getting diseases from dating than from pay-for-play girls, both here and back home.

Bar girls are a lot of fun, and good company.
Even if you don't take them home.
And if you get bored during a date it is more of a problem to cut it short and move on. Unless you really intend to settle down soon you are not breaking any hearts or expectations with BG's. I have had some interesting semi long term "friendships" that started as pay-for-play, both here and back home. And at the end no one was hurt. Lots of hurt feelings and recriminations in the dating/club/dancing scenes.

Yes ... am aware ---- certification exists, one has to scrutinize the labels -- test is does it congeal in cooler temps ( same for coconut oil )
Passing off cheap oil and wine as expensive ones is politely called "sophistication." Some of the practitioners are very sophisticated with good laboratory skills.

Many of them are great hoarders as well during their middle years of life and often leave piles of supplies when they die.
Some are not and this can cause great consternation when their keepers can't locate the food store.
Some of us pack rats think we have been very clever hiding our winter store. We always hope no other rat works out how to access it.

Why is it a silly question some of the super cars confiscated went up for auction.
I am sure you are very exactly perfectly right. Some of them probably did go up for auction.

For Ubon Joe. I am in the throes of possibly changing the way I do my retirement extension. Currently I am on an income Stat Dec from my embassy every April. If I was changing from income to banked money in Thailand will I have to have that 800k in my Thai bank for two months or three months? Thank you.

Only Erectus Falangus Viagerus can be included because of recent intrduction to the country.
Some of that species have evolved into Erectus Falangus Cialusus it seems.
Most are elderly specimens and unlikely to actually breed so are not considered a major threat.
But highly prized in Isaan for their short life span.

More than 300 plants and animals on the list,
will the will to round them up be the same as the human species?
my opinion, I think not.
Rattus Norvegicus? I imagine he has been here for at least 200 years, perhaps much longer. Took a while to notice him. He and Rattus Rattus are the two commonest rats in the world. And I think they both are in the whole world. RR gas a longer thin tail and climbs a lot. RN has a shorter thicker tail and generally bigger. Calling one a black rat and one a brown rat is nonsense. They both can be any colour. Most rats I see here on road sides etc I think are R.N.

A monocoque chassis is miles safer than an old fashioned rail chassis.
Sent from my R2D2 droid using my C3P0 manservant
I am sure this depends on the make of vehicle and so I understand, whether you are looking at the safety from the point of viewer of the crasher or crashee. From what I remember reading, many of the requirements of controlled crush zones is to protect who you run into as much as you. Modern chassis vehicles for heavy load carrying have crush zones too or they could not be sold in some markets. I am not talking about Mercedes and Volvo type vehicles with a sophisticated semi isolated passenger compartment. There are many levels of construction in modern cars as well as new materials including some very new steels.

If I was looking for a new one, I'd be concerned about built for safety in today's environment here. They're all pretty reliable but when in an accident they fold up & come apart like a toy.
Other than that, my Isuzu 4x4 will stay in the fleet for a while yet. Only complaints is the driver seats getting a little soft & cabs a bit tight. JMO
All pickup 4x4''s that I can think of have a full chassis so they hold together better than some monocoque SUV''s. Also in Thailand most pickup makers also build a "shiney" SUV on the same chassis. E.G. Toyota Fortuner etc so same probably applies.
