Didn't someone promise the Japanese industrialists that this would not happen again??
Just askin' (as they say)

Most Pattaya residents were surprised to hear that they had one librarian in Pattaya, let alone two. So these were scamming Librarians, not Lending Librarians

Who really has more lobbying power and incentive. Koch, Exxon et al. I would say oil companies that also provide major political support to politicians lining up against environmental concerns.
I would prefer to listen the the real scientist that have less skin in the game in these issues. They are out there. If you are looking to support your agenda or belief you will probably miss them.
Are you suggesting that vested interests influence these things? Well so do the anti-GW brigade who point out that all the scientists on the GW gravey train rely on "The sky is falling" headlines to keep those research grants coming in to keep them all in their cushy jobs.

Could it be that man-made CO2 emissions are slowing down the onset of the next ice age?
I remember reading an article 20 years ago about this, and another one that said that Russia has been preparing for a return of an ice-age of some sort for decades.

I'm 65. About 30 years ago I figured out that when around strangers, just smile and nod some form of acknolegement to folk, especially kids. Makes life more pleasant. Even an insincere reply smile is ok.

As Liz said to Kate, "Be faithful to your husband and don't piss me off."

Wife is in LOS right now modifying house to falang ways so we can both move here in 3 -4 months. I sure hope you are right. I could defintely do with a lengthening of the fuse. I hope to knock off the antidepressants slowly after a few months.

My wife has given 5000 to 8000pm since getting her first job in an insurance co. 8 years ago when she left LOS to live with me it went to 10,000. We also help with some family expenses sometimes. Have had several neices visit us for English studies while we still live overseas. It is more than many expats choose to but "when in Rome" and it is not too onerous and I agree with Mr Crab. The family always seem (very genuinely) kind to me. I also agree with Mr Crab. When wife is not around I am well looked after by extended family

So all those pesky canals that flooded LOS 2 years ago are all cleaned out of Hyacinth & rubbish and all in good working order now?

They could always make us renew our visas every 60 days instead of every 90 days and double the visitor numbers over-night. And increase the number of people flying to do a Visa run to help Thai Airways' profitability. Special 3 day fares to KL, Pnom Penh, Rangoon & Vientiane.
(Oh Gosh. Did i say that out loud?)

For a THB1,000 bribe you can get paper blinkers with the answers written on the inside. (LOL)
Seriously. At least the uni appears to be trying to get honest results from the exams and prevent cheating.
Do you want to be operated on by a doctor who got his/her medical degree by cheating?

I come from a country where a different Blu Ray zone standard is used from that used in Thailand.
I will move in a few months and would like to bring some of my small collection of Blu Ray discs with me.
Would I need a separate Blu Ray player? Or, is it possible to get a PC Drive that I could mount internally or externally to my Notebook to connect to hi-fi sound & display by HDMI? I guess we would also need some software. Does anyone know about multi-zone Blu Ray H/w & S/w? PS I already understand that LOS customs do NOT smile on Personal effects shipmemts with music or movie discs in them. Has anyone had any personal experience with this matter either?

PS. The Thai Queen Bee syndrome is very real and very dangerous. We have had two very messy bust-up's over that one. My wife did not want to conform to the drinking-gambling-gossiping-spare boyfriends pattern on offer.

Adapting to a new country or culture is an individual response and depends on age, education, background & personality. Bear in mind that in some countries many (most) of the local Thai female imports are from bars etc and the gossip & jealousies are an ongoing problem if that is her sole Thai group. It is certainly very true in my country. My wife said several years ago "She didn't need any more Thai friends." Having sad that, she has a nice circle around her who are going to miss each other as we are returning to live in LOS in a few months. A Thai woman with functional English (or your home language) an office or tertiary-ed background and an outgoing personality will probably fit in anywhere.
By contrast, a small-holding rice farmer's daughter "who left school at 13" will probably struggle unless she has a diplomat personality.

Beamed up and a beaming smile too. Your life may not be everyone's idea but that is the whole point. It's your life.
Glad it is working out well. Relationships are the sum of the parts.

My vote is with Mr Kikoman's logic.

My Thai wife migrated to my country 7 years ago. We legally married in my country during the first year she is now on the verge of verge of being granted citizenship here too. She can then have another passport too.
We visit Thailand & family here regularly but we always intended to live "abroad.."
Recently since my retirement, we decided for various reasons to move & live for the next few years in Thailand, travelling regularly between the two countries, and probably moving back overseas in old-age.
So she will have dual citizenship and two passports. Her current Thai passport has a returning resident stamp for my country. But when she renews her Thai passport next year, this will not be necessary and my country will probably not allow her to classify as a resident in one passport AND a citizen by virtue of the other.
What is the best "legal" way for travelling to & from between the two countries? Using two passports on every trip, using each passport for it's home immigration procedures?
Also are there any downsides for her in actual loss of legal Thai privileges for a Thai citizen with dual citizenship in another country. In buying more land for example ?
This situation can hardly be unique? I would be grateful for all answers from people who have actual genuine knowledge (not rumor) of this set of circumstances.

Oh good. It will start just when a former PM (or MP) said the floods will be over.
