  1. Thb 10000,-

I gone to save a lot of money, no six pair of new shoes to wifey, no foreign souvenirs, presents or chocolate to the family!

As far as I know, chocolate is food. You are not allowed to import food into Thailand without a license.

Just over a year ago, food that my friend wanted to bring chocolate, peanutbutter, licorice and more, that my parents give him, over to Thailand was confiscated at Suvarnabhumi.

When i am working abroad I often send 10kg boxes of food, candy, cookies and other thing to my wife and kids .

Never any problem , sometimes the boxes where opened and checked , never anything missing and always delivered .

Guess it depends on the officer that checks and the country it comes from .

  2. Sadly most of the confiscated Ivory, rhino horns , tigerskins , ect will be burned so the animals died for nothing .

Why not legalize the confiscated items and have them auctioned of by a world wide organization like WWF . and use the money to protect the

    endangered species .

Give the park rangers a decent salary and employ more of them , improve natural habitats , offer rewards for the names of poachers and

traders so they can be arrested , ect .

  3. "Thailand will never be like the west or japan , wich has strong dicipline ."

Well , I sure hope that it will not be like the west or Japan . I like the lack of dicipline and freedom ,we and Thai people can enjoy because of that .

I think the reforms should root out the "caste" like system like India has .

That we all can live without the fear of the abuse of power , extortion , fysical harm and corruption of the powerfull people , the rich , the police , the HiSo .

Let Thailand be " The Land of Smiles" again , for everybody .

Are you sure the "Thai people" like the lack of discipline? From my experience that's a total bullsh... statement. Thais don't want to live in a undeveloped country were poverty and abuse of power are rampant. They also want to live in a modern and developed country. Now they are just adapting their lives to the failed system that invokes chaos. Perhaps the current Thailand with where you can buy hookers on every street corner, live like an emperor for a meager western salary and pay off the police every time you are wrong, is your idea of a good Thailand, but it is not the Thailand the Thais I know want. They want law, order and dignity restored, and the improved living standard that comes along.

Maybe u should read my post again .

I've got to really hand it to the reporter on this one. Could he have found a smaller or more cute photo of a wild hog than that?

It really makes these two poachers out to be quite the heartless buffoons. What do they do when they aren't hunting Piglet, drowning day-old puppies?

And the photo is from the Netherlands

I can assure you there are NO wild boar piglets in The Netherlands left. When there were, color picture technology didn't exist yet.

I once repaired a radiator on a brown Renault for a friend. Big hole in it. He shot his car in the forest thinking it was a deer. He didn't come far in his further career.

Actually there are many in the Netherlands and they are hunted , because they reproduce quickly .

  6. There is a wood shortage in Thailand .

One thing they could do is to reduce the import taks on wooden planks , think its 40%

Squared logs are 10% , but its hard to find a decent sawmill .

I can buy oak and larch planks and beams in europe cheap , but add the shipping and the taks calculated over the product and the shipping its just

    not worth the effort .

And not to forget the extortion from the customs officers .

  7. To all you engineers and solar power experts out there... Is the below true or "pie in the sky?"

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's a "pie in the sky"

    1. Heat strengthened glass is about 8 times stronger then normal glass , but it can't absorb impacts of pointy things ( small rocks or pebbles in the tread of ur tires )

2 Glass and rubber work perfect when dry , but when wet its like an eel in a buckett of snot .

3 U need to put immense energy in producing these massive panels .

  8. There is one country that works allover the world succesfully .

So get the Dutch in , in such huge and risky projects .

Also , the Dutch are not keen on corruption ( probably the reason why they where not asked for the water management scheme )

From what I remember PTP went to Bulgaria for the water management scheme . That really boggles the mind .unsure.png

  9. Good to hear that want to reduce the high import duty's , I would love to import and introduce European materials that can't be found in Thailand .

But it's not only the high import duty's only that scare me off .

It's mainly the fact that the customs department got u by the balls over ur effort and investment and can charge anything they like to get ur stuff

    cleared .

  10. Most Thais away from the tourist ghettos are pretty decent and are non aggressive. The security guard is most likely a thug, itching for an excuse to beat up a foreigner. And they just as often beat their fellow Thais too.

For the first or second offense of assult, make the perp wear prison stripped overalls, sweep streets and pick up trash, wearing a sign saying "I am a coward, I assaulted another person for no reason" Photograph them with their families and have them apologize for bringing shame on them and their country.

When foreigners assault another person, deport them and permanently bar them from returning to Thailand.

Yeah, it would be easy for corrupt police to abuse, but then the cops are being reformed, right?

A firm hand would greatly reduce this nonsense but its not going to happen. Thailand already has harsh laws about drugs and dim wits continue to smuggle drugs.

A nice old fashioned pillory on the market for a day , blindfold the bastard and put some baskets with rotten eggs and frute ready for the crowd .

My choise of frute , Coconuts and durian

  11. This is a somewhat unexpected report, as I thought Thailand had quite an advanced cattle-breeding industry, to say nothing of the cowboy culture. Maybe cheap beef imports have put everything on the backburner???

I am a retired aussie farm animal vet. I saw a lot of charolais (?) blood infusion among local stock (Prachuap to Chumphon) during the last 15 years. Some of the beasts are monsters! Also tucked away down here are quite a few dairy cattle, obviously at least 50% holstein-freisian. No idea what their daily milk production would be, but they look sleek.

For sure mum/dad farmers probably only pushing on with those skinny white things (which survive in the dry season), but there are fawking monster cows down here. AA

Lot of nice cows and bulls here in Prachuap , diary and for meat . Feeling bloody well at home here with the frisian cows as a dutchy .

  12. O, so these japanees and italian journalists, as well as those civilians at the temple in a red cross tent, and another some 80 civilians, they all were armed and not shot at head and hart

Ever been in chaos with bombs , fire and bullets flying around and ur buddies dropping down , this goes for both sides army and reds

  13. Men from the West are more likely to do themselves in with a gun ( not available to farangs) rather than drugs or other means. This seems a solution that many seek here when they are at the end of their rope. I have observed that most balcony railings in Thailand seem to fit Thai people better than Europeans and other larger farangs, so some may well be accidental. On the other hand some may have gotten an assist by another person, but many are desperation driven IMHO.

Where I come from many suicidal people just wait for the high-speed train , and it's messy .

It's horrible to clean up the violent suicides where body parts are shattered around or just mangelt .

In Thailand Nembutal is sold over the counter , it doesn't stess or strain the cleaners very much .

  14. Nah -- the school lied.

    Sorry, no vegetables?

What a crock it's enough for little ones. A total crock.

Meat, rice, water and one cookie is not a nutritious meal. No way. No how. The school flunked....but I forgot...everyone passes here.

Meat, rice, water and one cookie is not a nutritious meal.

Erm..... Yes it is, very well balanced in protein, carbs, hydration, energy.

I take it you are NOT a nutritionist.

NO. It is NOT nutritious. Giving a 2 year old a cookie, ie carbohydrate based on wheat and sugar with a few chemical additives is STUPID. It is not the role of a school to be providing crap or to facilitate access to it. If parents want to give it, that's another matter.

Agree , replace tha bloody cookie for a piece of frute or veggies
