  1. I had a statement from uk from the " pension forecast dept" in Newcastle which stated I have 3O Qualifying years NI contributions, which gives me a state pension of £133 per week.If I want the higher rate of £156 I can add another £23 per week for the next 10 years. So basically I would get a return of the exact same amount I contribute in that time.

  2. Let's see how Thailand will fare with superhot temps and a shortage of water. This summer is going to be interesting. Especially reading the lame excuses as to why there was no water after everyone threw it at each other for so many days during Songkran. Of course! The farmers will be blamed.

Not so strange as farming uses 70% of the water and household and industry the other 30%. Reported is that households use around 10-15% of the water and songkran will double that. Its still far of the 70% that farmers used on the Songkran days.

Everyone knows that Songkran gives the economy a huge boost and will earn much more on the water those days as farming. For those that don't believe it check Songkran spending. Also its a huge morale boost, only those grumpy old songkran haters use this to ban Songkran.

I got my figures from news articles on Thavisa so no guesswork here. Both the doubling of water use and how much farming uses was reported before. So instead of blowing hot air like some members who live in the past do i rely on facts.

Yes in the past Songkran was different but no matter how much old dinosaurs want it we live in the present and Songkran has changed to the water throwing weather you like it or not. I can say for a fact that in my village on the suburbs of BKK Songrkan is loved and played with a lot of water trowing. So Thais changed Songkran not foreigners.

made you happy attacking common sense?
  3. A suppression of emotions in the country has been common for all time, then it bursts out in the form of intense anger. Of course the male "control obsession " of women can explode. I'm sure there is a mass of domestic violence that is under the radar, far more than western societies!

  4. "Thailand needs to reform its weak educational sector and take immediate steps toward curbing widespread corruption." Like.... change "needs" to "cant, wont and incapable"

Education is the one I emphasize. As said a million times the rote education at P and M level is a total failure, and In most universities educators are banging their heads against the wall to get bachelor students to come to class, come on time, come back to class after lunch on time, stop play games / messaging all day on their smartphones, listen, take notes, contribute to team case study work, stop cheating in exams, etc etc etc. And to stop the widely held concept that if you fail it's all OK because you can ask for a make up exam or give blood three times and your grade will be changed to A. When professors say NO to make up exams / extra assignments we often get the response 'but that's unfair'.

Further, there are quite a few companies and especially Japanese companies in Thailand who simply won't employ new young graduates and even more so if they have never worked. This is a big shock to the new graduates who are locked into the idea that they are entitled to a job and many believe they are entitled to an immediate managerial position.

yea and changing students thought process is near on impossible because its part of the culture and virtually institutionalised !
  5. Yesterday the Director General of the Confederation of British Industry said that it would not be in the Uks interests to leave the EU.

Also yesterday the head of the British Chamber of Commerce said that it would be in the UKs interests to leave the EU, he has been suspended for his comments!

I do love a level playing field and I am sure the general public do as well, another backfire from the remain group.

If you are wondering how you vote in the referendum, if you want to, there are options. A proxy vote where you can instruct someone you trust to vote on your behalf, they must vote at your local polling station, you can find out more at proxy vote/gov.uk

You can also get a postal vote for just this referendum if you wish, again postal vote/gov uk.

The forms can be downloaded from the site.

Just check the time required for setting these up.

So you say a proxy vote is for a friend to use in your polling district. How about the postal vote, presumably that can be used from anywhere .An idea when or even if postal votes will be dispatched overseas?
yes they will be dispatched overseas. I registered online to a former address in UK. Filled in form and scanned it, emailed to local council and got a letter back in post 2 weeks later telling me I am registered and will receive any ballot(in electoral register). See my facebook link in previous post for more info.
  6. I think the average Thai sees the police and traffic laws as a temporary inconvenience. Every time I go out I see motorists and motor bikers breaking the law in front of the traffic police sitting in their little air conditioned bunker pushing buttons for the traffic lights, which, by the way, are connected to a computerized traffic control system.

They only have tinted windows that we can't see when they make up skirt photographs to check the gender of the skirt wearers.

If you ever look at the number of drivers who use their mobile phones and tablets when driving its scary. I saw a female watching streaming video on a device held in one hand whilst driving along in Bangkok. There is no respect for other people on the road and certainly none for the insignificant fines issued. A complete and utter loss cause!
  7. That's totally B.S. You have to make a difference between immigrants and refugees. And also there were 2 cases of rapes. 2 out of 1000000 in total. Compare it with the people you live here. This week already 6 as far as I know.

nonsense statistics. Hundreds of women were abused in Cologne by non europeans, african and middle east origin. So go and dream up another "2 out 1000000000000 " junk statistic. Even better , take in a "refugee/migrant" in your own home if you so inclined to accept!

Read up on that incident again!

There where (born) Germans involved as well!

But that doesn't fit the narrative, does it now?!

nonsense. They were not Germans .As most of your diatribe is nonsense. But fits your narrative lie. Ask some of your so called friends who "volunteer" at something if they like to house a African Economic Migrant
