  1. I don't think he was genius. In fact, I thought he was mostly mediocre and way too pretentious. Remember when he changed his name to some weird, unpronounceable symbol?

IMO, he did one GREAT album (Purple Rain) and a bunch of other OK stuff. He died too young and does deserve to be celebrated for his one major contribution to modern music.

    RIP

he changed to a symbol due to the cheating record company who abused him!
  2. I lived many years in Pattaya.

Never, never have I seen Thais men beat a stranger for no reason.

I believe that this information is incomplete.

So the comments that follow will be pure fanciful speculations as usual.

what a stupid statement! You are saying there has never been an unprovoked attack in Pattaya? All sweetness and fun in the Pattaya heaven.
  3. How would UK trade with Europe post-Brexit?

    http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-36087636

EU would see Britain in a very negative light - (BTW - Gove is probably one of the least respectable references for any opinion on this)

UK - whats left of it - would have to re-negotiate from a point of disadvantage 40 years of trade deals and import/export deregulation.

Simply the extra time taken for goods to clear customs in both directions would put millions of pounds/euros on the bills of goods and commodities.

many companies in UK actually run their businesses in Euros - it saves time and effort using the pound - they would all have to re-assess this as the moverment of captial is likely to be restricted by governments trying to hold on to capital and stop it flying out of the country.

UK (or the British Isles) has been part of Europe for 2000 years, our genes, language and trade all come largely from Europe, why on earth would they want to take a deliberate step away - it is nothing short of cutting off the nose to spite the face.

typical arrogant op. "Uk is and would remain part of Europe" as do many other European countries.,Except this time not in a "centralised, bureaucratic, federalist, socialist state" But in truth many like it that way but keeping it quiet!
  4. Remember too - it won't be "Britain" outside the EU, it will be a "mini-UK" England and maybe Wales.

say goodbye to your freedom to live work and travel in Europe without excessive paperwork.

Say goodbye to cheap food and booze.

say good bye to your property rights in EU

Say good bye to your workers rights and benefits

Say goodbye to new roads and civil engineering projects

and say goodbye to car manufacturers and other industries who have been using UK to export to EU.

say good bye to the transport companies that have shipped goods to EU because it was so easy.

Say good bye to your Polish maid/hairdresser etc

Say goodbye to your local delicatessen.

    Say goodbye to safe workplaces......

feel free to add your own......

say goodbye to your lies and fear spreading. No evidence for ANY of that junk!
  5. Online shopping in Thailand is decades behind. Aside from a few large multinational shops there is almost no online market. Most shops have a very limited range of products, often the information on them is outdated and all that only if you even succeed in actually finding them online. And then there is the language issue.

Even big shops such as Lazada aren't ideal. I wanted to order a new Microsoft Lumia but with a delivery time of 1 week I emptied the shopping cart before I made the order. It's a joke really.

Where I am from there are hundreds if not thousands of web shops, all running modern websites connected to real-time stock information, with daily up-to-date prices, and knowledgeable staff. There are a few well-known centralized websites connecting all this information in customizable lists so you can get overviews of price, stock, delivery time and cost, and even shop review and reliability, all in one screen!

Like I said, Thailand is decades behind and if it has to depend on large international websites only for a bit of decent online shopping then I'm not optimistic. It is probably going to take a few more decades before the Thai people learn how to do it properly themselves.

Imagine each and every product sold in MBK and other big market places in Bangkok sold online, with prices, stock, location. They could close MBK and the vendors can sell from their homes instead. It would be a different Thailand for sure but it would save vendors a lot of money and customers hours if not days of searching for that one small wanted item. It's really not that hard to set up. It's the mindset here that keeps it from happening. I'm trying not to be judgmental here. Just pointing out what I believe are facts.

MBK fake junk not really a good analogy!
  6. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt died on this day, April 12, in 1945.

In his State of the Union Message to the U.S. Congress in January 1941, he identified four fundamental freedoms that people "everywhere in the world" ought to enjoy and here is the first one:

“The first is freedom of speech and expression—everywhere in the world."

wow. Great time to remind us of the great FDR!
  7. Dilemma for Dutch PM Rutte after voters reject EU-Ukraine partnership deal

    Where is the dilemma ?

The vote was NO. NO means NO.

If anyone has a dilemma it is the trough feeders of the EU as their gravy train comes screeching to a halt.

. It never means "no" in EU bureaucratic undemocratic speak! They change a few words then keep having ref ballots until EU federalist state gets the result it desires!
