  1. just to clear some things up.

They was not attacking me. The gaming cafe was pretty busy at the time maybe 50-60 people there. I just happened to be going to the toilet and the people fighting was right outside the toilet door.

Its not that I didn't want to help. Back home bar fights happen all the time but I am new to Thailand, and everyone always told me just to stay out of trouble. I might be able to handle my self back home but the people back home are not all trained Mauy Thai fighters.

Also when I left bathroom there was at least 3-4 people helping the person on the floor. I have no first aid experience and I would probably do more harm than good.

I am sorry if I made the wrong decision but I feel like the situation was better taken care of without some stupid farang getting involved.

Dude you did fine. Don't let the super hero keyboard warriors get to you.

  2. Judging by your post I assume you didn't check the injured guy to see if he needed first aid?

You just locked yourself in the toilets with a few Thai lads...

    Good one!

An outstanding member of the community.

So you encountered this shit before? How would you react in this situation? Round house kicking until you safe the guy and sew his neck because your not only a hero but a doctor too? We don't know how we react away from the keyboard. Keyboard warriors unite!

  3. Late last night I took a taxi from saphan kwai to Udom suk. Usually 130 baht highway excluded. Now it was 270 baht on the meter and I had to pay an additional 15 baht for another highway. Some of them are scum! I left the taxi saying he was bs me and I won't pay the fee. He replied saying I know I know I'm sorry. I gave him "only" 150 in the end but I should have payed nothing in hindsight.

  4. All those people hating on smokers. You don't drive a car then I reckon. And offcourse you walk around wearing a face mask right because you're so concerned about your health?! And if it's not about health please stop eating fish next to me, I really can't stand the smell. What...restaurant policy is to let people eat fish? Well then if that restaurant also allows people to smoke, <deleted>.

Most of us smokers smoke where it's allowed and truly we do care and try to minimise our habits around you. But when I walk down the street on sukhumvit road and a passenger covers there mouth and nose when they walk past me but ignore the insane traffic pollution next to them I smile and think ignorance is bliss.

  5. It's not really a coffee shop or what you were asking about, but I highly recommend the float centre near Udom Suk along the rd to Mega. Imagine the best massage you've ever had, then double it. That's how relaxing and nice it is in there. It's expensive but i recommend it at least once, it's a unique experience.

Best massage I ever had was 200 baht. Price on their site is 1600 for first time only. I still believe you though and might consider it.

  6. This thread...I came here as a non English/American native to discuss about the way Thai people don't speak proper English. I now realise I'm full of myself. My English is horrendous and the way Thai people speak is perfectly fine! I wanted to complain but after seeing all the corrections by English teachers I stand corrected, <deleted> us farrang.

  7. OP: Darling, I really want us to be happy together. This teacher's salary is really small I know and living in this 1-room is hard. I will think of something.

GF: Daling, I alledy thinking for you.

    OP: Really?

    GF: Leally. Make 7.

    OP: What?

GF: 7/11. You giv me 1.5million open 7 after no ploblem. One year 600,000 plofit. See-sip percent ok? Amerika no have see-sip percent plofit. Thailand diffelent.

OP: Wow, that's pretty cool. I think I could scrape 1.5mil together if I sell off everything back home. But darling I wouldn't want to stress you running a shop.

GF: No stess. You limember my bluther?

OP: Yeah, sure, the good-looking kid who stays over when I am not around to make sure no harm comes to you in this crappy neighborhood.

GF: Chai, him no evelything 7. You giv money, I open 7, him take care. After you sleep, boom-boom, relak, just evely month 31 day you count plofit, Ok?

    OP: Sounds like a plan.

    555 spot on!

  8. That is because they might think all "ferangs" are the same.

Americans are by far superior in every respect to other Farangs Jealousy among other Farangs make them critical to Americans tongue.png

There is as much difference between 'farangs' , as there are differences among Asians

and there are as much solidarity among 'Farangs' as there is among Asians

    Omg murica strikes again.

  9. First of all chin up mate :) you can do this if you really want to.

This thread has resonated with me even tho my situation is a little bit different.

I'm also in my early thirties and I work 12 hour (min) days here. After work I have been religiously drinking 3 big changs a day. Eat then sleep. Worst thing regarding weight gain. I'm overweight by about 20 kg as well.

Make a new year resolution as I am going to make and stick with it. Drink once a week, clean up my diet and train at a gym 3 times a week. I've been here before and beat the vicious cycle (lost 30 kg in the process) but a car accident and complacency put the weight back on.

I've been wanting to start again these past few months as more people are commenting on my weight gain, I run out of breath easily and have started taking medication for high blood pressure (runs in the family).

My excuse is that I'm working too hard, don't have time for a 45 min training session and that the beer is well deserved after a hard day at work.

    ALL EXCUSES.

It's not easy but I swore to myself that 2016 will kick my ass back into action. It will be difficult for the first couple of weeks then it will get better.

There's nothing more rewarding than going out clothes shopping and not have people raise eyebrows when you ask for a 44 inch waist jeans.

Best of luck to you and shame you aren't on samui as it would have been great to hook up, slap each other's faces and wake the hell up.

When I read that 77 year olds are keeping fit, I feel ashamed and so i should be,

All the best to everyone reading this for New Years! God bless!

Different situations indeed. I wish you all the best, hopefully we both can end 2016 on a high note!

  10. There are some really outstanding contributions here but where is the OP?

    Did he go AWOL?

Probably still in bed, because, unlike yourself, he still lives in Thailand.

    Good one ;-)

But, seriously, its almost 8:00 a.m.

Never going to set the world on fire if still asleep at that hour.

:) im awake! There are so many advices mainly positive a few negative but all in all more then enough to get me some ideas. I really appreciate all the input.

Sorry if I don't reply to all of them.

The topic can be closed if people get annoyed by my absence or we can leave it open since I've seen a couple other posters say they like the topic and learn a thing or 2 themselves.

Thanks from me for all the contributions, good and bad. Merry Christmas to all.

  11. It would seem the OP has achieved his objective !

70+ responses to read thus relieving the "boredom"

Im really not trolling if that's what you're implying.

Your choice of word! If the cap fits you are welcome to wear it ! smile.png

I "implied" nothing other than to suggest the "boredom" would be relived by 70+ responses you have available to read !

Yet you love to emphasise 'boredom' twice wich implies something negative in my opinion, for what that's 'worth' to you.

  12. Wow so many replies. Sorry if I didn't answer but just to many. I appreciate it a lot. I'm not sure how to move on but a couple replies about changing the whole attitude got me thinking. Hope I can make a change soon. Ingeneral most of you really tried to give some great advice. Thanks guys.

  13. I fell into the same pattern about 10 years ago, drinking a lot, not doing much, eating the wrong foods. I started jogging, bought a bicycle to ride around the parks near my apt, but then decided to ride it everywhere, cut out the drinking and bad food. Took about 6 months to get into shape. Lost a lot of weight.

Yeah that's kind of the advice I gave myself. Cut the drinking and be more active. Sounds so easy...
    I found a new hobby...spear fishing...burns a lot of calories and time..,..

Yeah 1 thing I didn't mention. Budget. Isn't spear fishing expensive?

  14. "In your thirties" is much too young to be virtually retired, especially to a Country like Thailand.

Nobody can tell you what to do,the fact that you know you are in rut,is a good start, think long and carefully what you want to do with the rest of your life!

I wanted to live in Thailand since my first holiday 15 years ago. I think I'm trapped in the holiday experience.
