  1. The signage is perfectly adequate. The problem will be in a few weeks when they stop enforcing it. Like they did with the bylaw that stated no rental bikes on Beach Road at the weekend. Drive down Beach Road now at the weekend and see the hundreds of rental bikes taking up all the parking places. At Beach Road between 13/3 and13/4 I've even seen the servicing the bikes on the road.

  7. I will be staying in Phetchabun in a couple of weeks time can somebody tell me a good Sports Bar and also if any Sports Bars are suitable for young children ( Wife's granddaughters). Thank you.
  8. Think about it. If the police arrest her they would have to take her to the station. Fill in loads of forms and then go to the court. All that work. Just let her go. Job done.
  9. Any updates on buying high fiber bread in Pattaya
  10. I would have said any car owned by a Thai knowing how much they care about maintenance and servicing.
  11. I am going to Soi 13/3 later so I will probably use Damini. Than you for your reply.
  12. Many thanks
  13. I have just come back from the UK and I have 7 x 20 pound notes. Where is the best place in Pattaya to exchange them.
  14. Does Dtac have a branch in Big C South Pattaya. They used to have a branch in Big C extra but that disappeared.
  15. Hi, I'm due to fly out with Thai in a few days but I just noticed that my ticket conformation states that I have 1 checked bag (20k) and 1 small bag suitable for putting under the seat not in the overhead locker. . As I haven't flown for some years I have never come across this before, Then it was checked luggage and hand luggage (7k). Do Thai Airways enforce this if I turn up with a backpack. Will they refuse it. Years ago I would watch the movies but as my deafness got worse I tend to read instead and on a 12 hour flight with the time at the airport before take off I need 2 books. So slightly bigger than a small bag. Anybody have experience of this. Thanks in advance. PS The knapsack wont be very heavy because apart from the books it will only have things like glasses phone hearing aids and the necessary paperwork. If they loose my luggage I will just head to Primark when I get to the UK.
  16. They are supposed to have Yellow Plates on the bikes denoting that they are for hire, how many white plated bikes (illegal) have you seen lately. The Yellow Plate mean that there is some sort of Insurance as well. I have also (in 20 years of driving here) never seen so many people jumping the lights at traffic lights or not wearing their helmets. The Thai police were ever that efficient years ago and they have gone downhill since then.

    Alarm Clock

My Sonic Boom Alarm Clock has decided to play up after many years of use. I would normally just go on Lazada and order another one but it's getting a bit close to the time I actually need it and a loud alarm is what I need if I'm going to get up early to get a flight. So my question is what's the best place in Pattaya to buy a loud alarm clock. If it's not a Sonic Boom I need to listen to it without my using my hearing aids. Lazada 's delivery dates are cutting it a bit fine. I will probably go to Pattaya Night Bazaar (M-I -T) tomorrow afternoon but are there better places to look. Thank you.

    Swampy

Thank you all. I will not book and will just go to the nearest lounge when I know the gate for the plane. Years ago when I traveled regularly I never bothered book but I was much younger then and walking was no problem. I must admit I never encountered a crowded lounge in those days, just turn up and pay, but if memory serves me right it was just for 2 hours then and most UK flight went at night. Anyway thanks again.

    Swampy

I am flying back to the UK next month. I am planning to use a Miracle Lounge. First time in 11 years. So I have a couple of questions. What would normally be the concourse for Thai to fly out of? I am trying to cut down the walking by booking a lounge near to where the plane normally departs from. Second question, what taxi firm would you recommend? When I return I'll get the bus back to Pattaya but going I want a taxi. I look forward to all your replies. Thank you.
  20. Slight change of subject. Can somebody tell me the procedure for re-entry permit , like how long it takes between handing in the paperwork and getting it back. It's so many years since I left Thailand I can't remember.
  21. I will be going back on Thursday at about 15.15 I have never been to Immigration in the morning (apart from when my wife had to do my TM30). Mind you I can't understand why I need a Re-entry permit anyway. I have a valid visa so I just think it's just another way to make money, and don't get me started on 90 day. After 18 years and 72 forms at the same address it just seems a waste of paper.
  22. I need to get a re-entry permit from Immigration. So this afternoon I went there. I always go late afternoon as I find the queues by then have disapeared even on busy days. I arrived at 1540 (plenty of time i thought as I was only going to hand in my paperwork). On arrival I went to the information area on the left, it was shut. I said to the guy by the copy machine it should be open to 1630. He said no it shuts at 1600,.I said to him it's only 1540 I got the normal shrug of the shoulders and "come back tomorrow". Checking the website it still states 1630. The re-entry permit has to be done in person. As it happens I live on Thepprasit and go to Jomtien most days but for somebody living further away it would be bloody annoying. I wasn't all that happy either. It's typical of the Thai Civil Service ,they make up there own rules when to shut when it suites them total ignoring their customers.
  23. Because at the time I wasn't planning to see him as he live 5000 miles away.
  24. Not disappeared just got distracted by more important things. I will be seeing my brother in law next month (after many years) who understands computers (builds his own) and will get him to explain (simply) what I need and what I should do. I would like to thank everybody who replied to my post, it's what Asean Now is for.
