Why do these firms make it so bloody awkward to shop. I live in Pattaya and have been going to Siamsburi's for years with an open mind about what I want. This time it's different I know what I'm looking for. So I click on Siamsburi's to search, and I go straight to Expats Food. I don't want a delivery in 2 days; I want it tomorrow. Expats may offer a wonderful service, but that's not what I want. I will go to The Pantry tomorrow and then down to Yorkies to pick up a couple of things I need and then order the rest on Lazada (where I have already searched). The next time I'm on the Darkside I will pop in, but making a special journey - forget it.

As I said before, I'm 78 too. I have no problem with escalators, but steps are something I try to avoid. I used to pay my 3BB bill at Thepprasit, but as there are a couple of steps, I now go to Big C Extra.

The one thing I didn't mention is that I have balance issues, so having hand rails on either sides helps.

I know I have asked this before, but has anything changed? I am 78 and getting slower. I want to play golf again, but I need to walk better. I want a gym that has a running machine (not that I will ever do that), so I can walk gently for a period of time. Probably no more than 20 minutes max to start. So it needs to be cheap (or at that end of the market) but with something to look at while I'm walking. A TV or even a view of the street to occupy my attention. I used Tony's for years (life membership, best value deal I have ever had), but that was years ago. I live just off Thepprasit but can travel. Look forward to your suggestions.

Visa Extention Agent
roger101 replied to roger101's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Fine. Seems you haven't read all of my posts. 18 Extensions all based on income (although I'm married) Never asked for a Blue Book. Talking to friends here today (who I must admit it's ages since I've seen them), they have never been asked for a blue book either. They were quite surprised. They did recommend an agent whom they have all used for years. I will go see them Monday morning. I won't name them yet until I've seen them., -

Thank you. I'm surprised, only one reply. I thought there would be more and some PM's. -
I have a problem with my extension and need the name of a good Agent. I friend told me years ago his agent was brilliant, but I can't remember the name. If anyone knows a really good one who can solve problems, can they let me know. PM me if it's complicated about how good they are. Thanks

Report Thailand Tightens Grip on Retirement Visas Amid Wealth Shift
roger101 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I am in the process of doing my 18th Visa Extension. I meet all the financial requirements. However, this ct, I have been told by immigration that I need the Blue Book. Never asked for it before, in fact, we don't even have one. My wife, who is miles away looking after her sick father, will have to come back to Pattaya so we can go to the Banglamang office and get one. -
Visa extention change
roger101 replied to roger101's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Pattaya. My main point is if my paperwork has been enough for the past 18 extensions, why is it not now? And as I said before, I have done the TM30 years ago and nothing has changed. -
Visa extention change
roger101 replied to roger101's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I did the TM30 years ago. last year was the first time I can remember being asked for proof of address, and I was told a copy of my Driving License was enough The Bank Statement and Wise transaction were sufficient proof of the money's origin . My extension has always been based on 65,000 baht a month. As for talking to the Bank, I need to know if my nearest Bangkok Bank is OK or will I have to go to my home branch, as I did for the Bank Letter?. I hope this explains things and somebody can answer my question. I don't want to, but would an agent solve my problem? -
Last year, to prove my address, I had to do a copy of my Driving Licence. This year to make sure I had a copy of my Electricity Bill and my 3BB bill as well. Guess what, not enough. They want a copy of my House book, which I don't have. I have owned my condo ( alright, my wife is the official owner) for 25 years. I have never seen my House book. I have never had to show it before. I am on my 19th extension. Also, when I went today, I was told that I need a summary from the bank for Foreign transactions. This I have never needed before. The year's statement was enough. I will go back with the only paperwork I have on the condo. I would like to know if asking the bank for a summary of Foreign Transaction can be done on the spot, or does it take a week, also a local bank or home branch. Thank you for any replies. PS I'm convinced that it is a plot to encourage you to use an agent, as it's getting more complicated over the years. It seems every year they add something.

Tourism Tourism Shock: Thailand's Visitor Numbers See Alarming Plunge
roger101 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I don't suppose it helps when The Times ran a Travel item a week or so ago. It stated wonderful country, beautiful beaches, incrdiblel food and lovely people, and cheaper than Thailand. The article was about Malaysia. -
Latest information on extending an "o" via
roger101 replied to roger101's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The point was, I'm getting old, so I keep a list of things to do and how. As I said, I made a mistake and lost it. My memory isn't as reliable any more. So, thank you for posting that link. I want to ensure I don't have to do too many trips to immigration or the bank. -

Report Pattaya Officials Crack Down on Sidewalk Encroachments
roger101 replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
What about the bikes for rent on Beach Road? Pattaya passed a new Bylaw some years ago banning the rental bikes on Beach Road at the weekend. At some parts of Beach Road they take up all the available parking places on the east side of the street. The police do nothing, but the traffic police in Pattaya don't even do anything about moving traffic offences.
