I recently applied for my ED visa in Laos, no problems. I need to re-apply as my passport got robbed.
I'd rather head somewhere else other than Laos, and somewhere that's not locked down... I'm thinking Bali. Has anyone applied for an ED visa there recently?
Any other options, not too far from Thailand? Cambodia? Vietnam?

I don't know if you had access to a computer and/or a scanner but you may consider next time to scan and save all your vital documents, just in case it ever happens again.
If you don't have access there are plenty of photo/printer shops around who could do it for you. Perhaps investing in a thumb drive might be an idea as well but keep it somewhere safe.
I lost my wallet with stuff like that a few years ago but my passport was safe and I printed off the debit cards and driving licences which made the police report (20฿) easy and the replacement documents easy to replace.
I have copies of my passport, just not the visa. But I don't think a picture of the visa would have helped.

So they assume everyone has a smartphone? I don't and plan to come back to Thailand soon. What then?

So my bag was robbed with my passport in it. I'm arranging a new passport. The problem is, I had a new ED visa, which cost 34,000 baht. My school now wants me to pay 17,000 to replace it.
Has this happened to anyone else here? Is this normal?
-
Seems the biggest hold up is people not having their docs in order, and looking bewildered at T M30 stuff.
They keep changing the rules, so what was normal last time most likely has changed.
My school takes care of all my paperwork, so, in the slow queue, took me around 3 min to get a ticket.
Some people up to 10 min, and then coming back wasting more time.
They should have interns weeding out those with missing paperwork.
If you're not sure, hire an agent.
Oh, we were all made form a neat line before they opened the doors ???? Attention!

Bad, corrupt management seems to be quite common here in CM unfortunately.
I bought in an old building, knew what I was getting in to. More and more units are being bought up and being renovated, mostly by Farang.
A few of us banded together and we own over 20% of the building.
Another problem, the management owns tons of units in the building... I've seen this with 2 other old condos I looked at, and assume its common, they buy them up at rock bottom prices, then flip them.
We've collectavely been putting pressure on them for repairs, and can finally see some things being done.
Meeting coming up, I want to know what money there is, what money has been spent on what, and what is planned to be repaired at what cost.
I've very little confidence in their capabilites, how do you go about replacing them?
I take it you vote at an AGM? Anyone know how this works?

Thailand has the most cases after China and can't even grow a spine and close all flights from China like plenty of other less hit countries, crazy.
A Chinese medical certificate! What a joke. Even with their fake certs, how exactly are they supposed to check, verify, the hoards of Chinese? What a cluster fcuck.
-
The Chinese created this mess and are the ones spreading it, seems fair enough if a private business wants to deny them entry. Lumping all non Thais in, that's a bit dumb, but, if they're that paranoid...

Watch out for fake masks too.
-
1. Stop all flights from China
2. Round up all the Chinese already here and send them back

How is it possible that some greedy farmers are allowed to pollute and intoxicate nearly all of Thailands population ... and the government does nothing against it except " propositions on how to tackle the problem " . The burning goes on for years already , people get sick and fed up because of that .
May be instead of paying billions for useless submarines and other military gadgets , they should finance some sugarcane harvesters for every province that are used by all sugar cane plantations , one after the other ...?
A government that does not protect the people from the easily avoidable smog that is caused by the burning , is not worth to be named " government " , because it does not do what it should do .
They are so concerned about ' losing their face ' ... do they ever reckon how much of their precious ' face ' is lost due to their incompetence ...?
An uneducated, ignorant population.
Unfortunately, they won't wake up to the problem until it's so bad people will be dropping dead, children and old people mostly.
Until then, business as usual.

I found a great deal with AIS, unlimited 4g wifi, at 10mbps, for 200 baht a month. The speeds are usually close to 10, and enough for my needs. I just tether from my phone.
I saw that they had a pocket wifi gizmo and a home one. I think the pocket one can only connect 1 thing at a time, I may be wrong, not sure of the difference, the home one was 1000 baht more.
Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone is using the home device, and is it better/faster than just tethering from your phone?
-
Too many uneducated locals who will never understand how dangerous the pollution is for them and their family.
Maybe in a few generations they'll wise up.

Ha ha, working with no work permit! So he's taking work from Thai criminals selling fake goods?
Or only a crime if you're not Thai?

Never been. How much is a large bottle, say Leo, in a walking street bar?
Some bars in Chiang Mai have the audacity to charge 150 baht!
They jack prices when customer numbers are down. Gun, meet foot.
They're probably obvious to the state of the baht.

Sort out the Thai baht.
Scrap the pointless T-M30.
Scrap the 90 day reporting for long term expats.Fix the toxic air for 1/4 of the year up north.
Probably too late to un-5hit the bed.

VOA at airport, 15 or 30 days?
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

I know the visa on arrival at land borders are 15 days, and was sure that at the airport it was 30, I always got 30 in the past.
Is it still 30 days at the airport? Non restricted county.
