This report seems bogus from my observation. The bar they show is way north on Soi 18 in Naklua I believe. Yes, not many people partying in Naklua.
Even during normal times you can find a deserted bar.
Plenty of places are open in and around central and full of people partying it up big time so maybe show photos of those places for proper perspective.

This is what is unclear...
And what I dearly wish to find out. I booked the Novotel airport for T&G as it is convenient in terms of going home next day. But no way would I choose it for a 7 day stay let alone (worst case scenario) 7 day quarantine.
I suppose I can count myself lucky I thought I booked Novotel airport T&G, but somehow ended up in Novotel Bangkok Platinum Pratunam, maybe a blessing in disguise

"It has been three weeks since the country reopened to vaccinated tourists and there has been no spike in the number of daily Covid "
I find this very mis-leading as the figures include all 3 schemes of Test & Go (from 1 Nov), Sandbox (re-opened 1 Jul) and unvaccinated Full Quarantine (re-opened ages ago)
The Test & Go scheme has most of the arrivals (69,809) with only about 0.08% tested positive since it started 3 weeks ago so why would there be a spike?
I wish they would report Test & Go separately as then they might realise how low risk this really is and drop some of hoops
That’s just too sensible

Tourists, and their Governments reading the headlines about the Phuket Vaccinations that have started today, are going to be really worried about any future Vaccination numbers that are published.
Phuket has put a death Knell into the Tourist Industry for the foreseeable future in Thailand.
Be lucky to get 2000

don't blame delta, it was in thailand already before songran, with migration from india and the region going on till 1st of april, when consulates stopped issuing permits.
Do blame the government which allowed for songran to go on despite the third wave started in march by the very same government officials in thonglor clubs. It was purely face saving operation. And do blame their corruption for acute shortage of choice of vax - in march was already known from an India experience, that AZ don't work that well
Can you show the link AZ doesn’t work. Tell that to people who have had it

Thailand most certainly top 5 in the world for Covid response.
It will be interesting to know the final winner once Covid has finished.1 hour ago, miamiman123 said:How is that recovery even possible when the rest of the people in the world like the USA, the UK et al are in desperate financial straits, and are in no position to travel even if they could?
The return of airline industry is not going to be quickly accomplished if at all.
Bearing these factors in mind, how is this return of tourists to any SE Asia country possible...
Even if an effective safe vaccine is found.... it will be months if not years before safe travel willl be possible.
Who is this guy trying to fool?
China is the winner by a country mile

This is ridiculous other countries still require the Pcr test if you’re transiting through,ie Singapore 48 hrs before landing,I don’t know who thinks these changes up, but this one is a backward step
