The place is dead tourist wise. I have friends in samui who own some of the popular bars in bophut and chaweng and have been there over 20 years running them and they are just staying open by skin of their teeth with the few customers they get. My wife and most of her friends were working before in hotels , bars and shops and now most have left and went back home as their workplace is closed permanently or until Christmas. My wife has tried to get a job for the last 3 months but none unless she wants to work 60 hrs a week for 4-7000bht a month as places are paying people half salary etc until it’s busy and even these jobs are slim on the ground.

The place will remain dead until international flights resume with either minimal quarantine or none at all !

Also how does the hotel have 200m of private beachfront ? Pretty sure there can be no such thing in Thailand as the king and the navy own it and it is free to all the people of Thailand to use . 

So for the quarantine in the hotels is one cleaner assigned to just one room or are they allowed to freely wander through the hotel from room to room ?? ????

Yet they all seem to have several of the latest phones , ray ban sunglasses , smoke , have houses and even cars ! 

So they want to quarantine people in a place that had practically zero Covid and invite the Chinese as some of the first stayers ?? 
Then samui hotels are mostly expensive compared to rest of the country so are the prices going to be reduced ? 
Also Thai airways stopped flying the few flights to samui as bkk airways charged them high landing fees etc to use their airport so who is going to be paying Bkk airways these high fees again ? The government, the passengers via high flight cost or Thai airways which is going bankrupt ? ????????

March/April was time frame a guy I know in uk was told by Thai embassy to get back to Thailand.

A drop in the ocean !! Real unemployed figures over the last few months would be scary and I’m wondering how a lot are surviving as the government only paid 5000bht for three months and I’m not seeing any places handing out food parcels etc anymore .
So how are they all surviving ?

I thought you still need to do 90 day report even with elite visa ?

Eva have never stopped regular flights to London direct as far as I know . Mine in June was £520 one way .

Look up in Thai visa the days the ones in 14 day quarantine showed positive tests . Most were in last few days of quarantine.

Nothing to do with being able to afford ASQ cost , it’s all the other nonsense at my expense that goes with it  . Have spent millions of bht from living there and no wish to waste money on something I don’t see as life threateningly urgent . Obviously your minted and interested in others finances as you look down from your ivory tower though so good luck with that !
