Thailand bets on Diwali season & Indians to boost its tourism
khunpa replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I am already in Thailand, have money to spend and want to go to the beach. However I am not going anytime soon, as: 1. I am not double vaccinated yet, thanks to the slow vaccine rollout. 2. I don’t want to quarantine. 3. I don’t want to take tests risking to be forced to quarantine during my holiday. 4. I don’t want to risk getting arrested if I enjoy a beer on my holiday. 5. I don’t want to go to a place with nothing to do, because everything is closed. As I don’t want to go, why would anyone outside the country want to come and risk their holiday turning into a nightmare ?? You go on holiday to relax, not add stress to your everyday life. -

Thai industry group scales down tourism forecast, says 3 million jobs lost
khunpa replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
And that is the exact problem…. It is not a holiday environment worth visiting, unless watching food-lines, closed shops etc. somehow makes you happy. Had the government supported people, businesses and focused on domestic tourism, there would still be “life” and activity. The return to normal would have been easy. Now it is uphill and will take years instead of months. -
Thai finance minister still eyeing GDP growth of 1.3% this year

I love the way governments can turn overspending, higher debt, higher unemployment and economic disaster into “growth”… Its truly Amazingly what you can do, when you have access to other people’s money and a money-printer. -
Thai Education Ministry Plans to Tackle Teachers’ Debts Nationwide

Since surveys show that your IQ drops by attending school here, I would say they are overpaid. -
Thai Education Ministry Plans to Tackle Teachers’ Debts Nationwide
khunpa replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I have an idea. Why don’t the teachers start collecting payment from students for them to pass their exams…???…… Like a kind of blackmail and for all students to pass, no matter their skills. Ohh damn! They are already doing that… Well I am out of ideas then ???? -
Thanks for another donation USA! That said I don’t understand why Thailand needs to be donated anything? They clearly have enough money for military equipment, useless submarines and high-speed railways etc… And TAT is always claiming trillions of tourists returning, which will create “Fillions” in new revenue. Not to mention all the “hubs” that will lead to huge money making and happiness beyond anyone’s dreams. Let them pay for it themselves! Clearly they don’t need help from any “Farang” countries.

Government makes bold move to woo wealthy, highly skilled foreigners
khunpa replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes on paper they could sound good, but in real-life applying for one, could end up being a huge headache for many. Besides that you are facing constant political instability here. At any point they can change the rules. -

I could just imagine the headache of applying for one of these visa-schemes. First of all you would be dealing with different interpretations of the law, depending on which area of Thailand you live in. Then you will have the hassle of dealing with “some” corrupt officials, when they find out you have a lot of money. Much better for any rich people to just buy the Elite Visa to avoid headaches, corruption and risk losing all your money. -
I have the money to invest, but I just can’t see any benefits of doing it… - Political instability. Rules can change at any moment. They could take the land/house away from you at anytime. - Difficult paper work - all in Thai and you can’t trust 99.999% of lawyers here. In fact the law changes dependent on what district/area you live in. - Corruption is everywhere and as a Farang with money, you are an easy target. When will you end up with a plastic bag over your head at the police station… They have to come up with other benefits, than just skipping 90 day reporting. And I can’t see what that would be…??????

Corruption, Education, Language skills and Political stability is just some of the factors wealthy investors look at, before they throw big money at something. Any “wealthy” person can just right now buy an Elite visa, if they want to stay here. But it is a completely different thing and other factors that apply, if you want to invest in property or setup a company. I think they need to lower the bar, if they want to attract more foreign investment. Or at least fix the fundamental factors that makes people want to take the investment risk.

Life in Thailand possible without the Vaccine?
khunpa replied to AmericanMusashi's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
I am pretty sure at some point you will have to show your vaccine-card, when doing 90 day reporting. -
Besides just confirming that 6-7 million have Covid, I don’t see the point or idea? You can’t isolate 6-7 million people anyway and the Delta variant is too infectious to stop. We will all end up getting infected at some point anyway. Just get people vaccinated and then open the country, so people can start earning money again.

Thailand hopes to welcome tourists to Bangkok, top cities next month
khunpa replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It is beyond my understanding why they do not focus 100% on domestic tourism and forget about foreigners for now. Let double vaccinated Thais and Expats travel internally as they want. Provide them with great holiday deals to get the ghost-towns back to life. Once things are back to life, foreigners will be much more interested in coming. -
Well I guess people including myself are just fed up with restrictions. The only ones to blame is the government itself, who completely messed up getting enough vaccines. Once people are double vaccinated, for sure there will be a huge infection spike. And so what. We can’t live like this forever. I don’t know about you, but I am going to start living life once I am double vaccinated. Getting first vaccine tomorrow ???? Hopefully, unless they run out and turn me away.

Health Ministry presses charges against hospital database hacker
khunpa replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Maybe they should start to consider having professional IT-companies make and secure their systems. Put focus on actually getting a proper system and less attention to kick-backs and hiring incompetent friends for the job. Ohh what am I thinking… will of course never happen.
