Well done Thailand now give constructive advice how you plan to get out of lock down and help the vast numbers of unemployed / bankrupt companies as the longer you leave it any recovery will be or the more difficult to achieve.
-
Honest truth no foreign tourists for rest of this year and probably next year as well. Bangkok Airlines must be in dire financial difficulties as both its passenger and airports income must have almost completely dried up. Koh Samui will go back to Coconut Farming which will be good for the environment although quality of coconuts will make them hard to sell and most inhabitants will have to go back to Isaan. If you are prepared to invest for the future 2 or 3 years ahead plenty of property for sale at knock down prices but better wait until next year.

Interesting nonsense so how many will come no international airlines will bother to schedule flights to Thailand with these conditions as only few foreigners will find of any interest especially when they will have to isolate again for 14 days when they return to their home countries.

If official Government policy would be helpful if they would announce it so everyone knows where they stand including a plan of monthly payments to the millions of unemployed. Not sure about economy which will be in freefall together with the Baht and many more Industries will disappear for good including the aviation industry

What a lot of nonsense let criminals in carrying their illgotten gains on their backs what about Thai Nationals best call a General Election in the hope officials with same sense may take over control from headless chickens

The Government has a duty under International Law to allow Thai Nationals into the country and should make the necessary arrangements without further delay.
As regards tourism the Government is clearly out of its depth and leaving the country open to mass unrest owing mass unemployment brave and decisive decisions have to be made swiftly forget about purchasing aircraft which will probably be obsolete owing environmental issues before they even arrive.

1 hour ago, 4MyEgo said:I can understand that the Thai taxpayer is paying for this 40% rebate in an indirect way for Thai's only, but the Thai's too quickly forget how much farangs contribute to their economy, so I would think hotels should be enticing us farangs who live here to also support them through some kind of discounts, however I personally haven't seen any yet, has anyone else ?
Just saw video of Koh Samui filmed yesterday it is completely dead so not attracting Thai domestic tourism which not surprising owing exorbitant fares demanded by Bangkok Airways even today who still reported loss last year in their accounts which also stated 25% fare income came from Europe probably much more when direct bookings taken into consideration.

Maybe better wait for new Governor to be appointed as looks very optimistic as so much fake news emanating from Thai officials.

Good luck Thailand may soon realise that loss of tourism is only part of the down turn they are going to experience there is a serious world recession that is going to impact of parts of the economy. Vietnam has already opened up to tourists and will take similar steps to encourage other industries from Thailand

What makes Thai's think foreigners want to visit Thailand so much to expose themselves to Dangue Fever epidemic and high risk of being killed on the roads both far higher than risks of dying from Covid it would be wise to think more of the devastating down turn in Thai economy consequential high unemployment also competition from neighbouring countries attracting tourist who may have visited Thailand in the past. Cambodia is building the biggest airport in the world which will undoutably attract Tourists to a country with new hotels at far cheaper prices so Thai's beware as your wishes may come true

Are International flights in/out of Thailand banned or Not?
-
Crazy plan Thailand has serious shortage of Doctors why in earth would you want to import patients and leave Thai's out in the cold that can't be right
-
What a lot of nonsense political games to justify continued state of emergency and maybe announcement of economic crisis Thai entry requirements are similar if not the same as other bordering/nearby countries and not likely to be lifted anytime soon.

Covid will be us for many years lock down easy unlocking not easy politicians have to make brave decisions as eventually economy will become more important. Don't worry about Air Crew they will be minimal until borders opened up. What about 3,000 illegal entries into country (maybe much more) how are they being checked?
-
It is not only up to Thailand when borders reopened this is also up to the bordering countries who are unlikely to open their borders any time soon. Also Flights out of Thailand are likely to become scarce as once repatriating Thai's dry up International Airlines will find it uneconomical to operate so leave whilst you can
-
The Government is desperate for money. Strongly recommend you pack your bags and go
home with your family rather than face the risk and humiliation of deportation. There are plenty of flights out of Thailand mostly empty bringing back Thai's from Middle East. Coronas will be with us for many years to come

Yes everyone is scared of Covid especially now it is established no long term immunity even after you have had the viras therefore any vaccine is also likely to have limited effect. Foreigners are also scared to travel so even when borders opened so not expect any mass tourism especially when Thailand so close to China where the viras emanated.

This article is just the tip of the woes that will hit Thailand hard. The expectation that Europeans who according Bangkok Airways twenty five per cent of their revenue last year will want to return in droves is a pipe dream. Tourism in Thailand was already in the decline last year which was not helped when government officials at the border who have attitude problems and do their very best to be unwelcoming and think that foreigners who have already gone to the trouble and expense of obtaining a 60 day tourist visa are only to be allowed in provided they can show evidence again that they have bank accounts with at least equivalent of Bht 200000 during last three months plus confirmed paid accommodation for duration of their stay as a favour to a country which is no longer a land of smiles but the contrary. It is a land selling off its assets at knock down prices to a nearby super power fast taking control. Denque Fever is likely to go out of control as not enough preventative measures being taken during the rainy season owing Covid which will kill far more people and further discourage visitors.

There is no explanation why reported cases of Covid so low except may be no testing many deaths go unvestigated at home as you cause etc. Now the main problem is financial forget about covid as worst world recession in living memory is occurring which needs immediate government action. Lock down is easy but unlocking means politicians are going to have to take big risks to help alleviate the downturn as unemployment is a greater danger to health and stability. On one hand politicians say stop mass tourism but only yesterday they signed contracts for a third Bangkok Airport why?
