First time I fully agree the seas around Thailand are full of plastic rubbish. You don't have to go diving to realise this just look at the beaches after stormy seas when you will see so much trash has been washed up it is sometimes difficult to walk along the beach. Now is a great opportunity to start a clean up with so many people unemployed.

Many contries grant Nationality for less.

Realistically unlikely to be any foreign tourist arrivals this year. Would not like to be first foreigner to test positive for CV after entering Thailand especially if he is likely to have come into contact with general pooulation.

Economics will soon be a top priority when full extent of recession begins affecting the lives of all whether rich or poor. Unemployment and hunger are recipes for disaster even war you only have to look at history

At least they are wearing masks but where is the social distancing?

How can any foreigners still in Thailand be classed as a Tourists? No tourists visas have been issued outside Thailand for more than 6 months. Doubt if the proposed 90 day long stay visa will materialise. Personally even if a visa was available would not be keen to travel as covid is still present in most if not all countries.

Best stop all this nonsense and get real. When you realise full extent of the economic recession being caused by Covid realistic measures will need to be taken to attract foreign tourism but fear will be too late for Thailand's peak tourist season mid December to end February so best wait until next year to come up with realistic plans to reopen on as safe basis as possible but without quarantine
-
Unfortunately the Government's hands are tied. Just look at other countries in the region their borders are closed for tourism until at least next year. Do not foresee any significant tourism for Thailand until second half 2021 earliest.

Yes he is probably right but you do not have to be an expert to make such reports. In the absence of a suitable vaccine which looks increasing likely will never materialise is how to get out of this mess so that life of tbe majurity may get back to some sort of normality.
Far more people are suffering from the fall out of Covid destitution, mental illness, starvation, suicide .... so come on experts lets have your constructive opinions what is to be done

No questions asked and my passport doesn't show my entry into Dubai. Technically, transfer passengers don't enter the country.
Better check your facts you have to send questionnaire by email before departure country of origin declaring your full itinerary

Is it possible for anyone still in Thailand without having qualified for a visa extension can apply for Thai Nationality?

Just a distraction whether or not taken up by so few will not assist tourism industry nor Thai economy. Let's face it no tourism income for the rest of the year and every one should plan accordingly. As things stand quarantine on arrival and upon return home countries makes travel a non starter. Let's see how other South East Asian Countries open up next year.

It is very sad to read so many officials spouting a lot of nonsense. Maybe good idea to look outside Thailand to recruit officials who can really help the country to weather the economic storm in a constructive and realistic way. No one seems to realise there will be no Foreign Tourist for the rest of this year and probably the next year. This will be reflected in stark economic facts that will have to be reported from the third quarter of 2020 onwards. Meanwhile no need to declare more public holidays as permanent holidays will become the new normal for so many

Sorry Folks no international tourism this year and probably next year. Wait for third quarter GDP when the economic crisis owing Covid will become a stark reality.

Probably more to this story than has been reported. Maybe his condition to serious for such a long repatriation. Don't believe anything to do with border closures.

Hysteria, fake news, racism is Thailand's worst enemy. Covid is here to stay for the foreseeable future and knows no borders. We are going to have to learn how to deal with it.

Does Thailand publish daily deaths rates for this year compared to previous years?
Very worrying so many prisoners to one cell what about prison staff was this one of the prisons opened up for tourism?

This is final nail in coffin why on earth would foreign tourists be interested in purchasing insurance from a Thai Insurance company subject to Thai Law when they can purchase far cheaper and more comprehensive insurance in their home countries. The Government's domestic tourism package is far more likely to help big hotels but not the many small businesses that rely on Foreign Tourists nor the many Thais who earn relatively large sums from foreigners. The Government needs foreign currency which is badly needed for Thai economy. Personally regretfully have given up any plans to visit Thailand.

Usually come to Thailand twice a year. I was lucky left last March before lock down since then have stayed at home and surprised to see how much my bank balance has grown by just staying at home no wonder I was so welcome previously whilst in Thailand. No foreign tourists, no Money, no honey I am sure I am not alone so politicians better come with a realiatic plan for tourism to start up safely very soon

I wonder how many "many" is in "Many hotels have not only shut their doors but shut down for ever"...????
Best accept there will be no International Tourism throughout South East Asia for the foreseeable future. So far as Samui is concerned it will be good time to realise it is time to restructure as so much expansion in the past few years has made it not the paradise many would like to believe but a crowded and polluted island so much unregulated building too many cars so take the time to make it the beautiful Island that it once was.
-
The Government is right high end tourism only. Introduce strict laws sale of alcohol with all Bars to close latest 10PM which should also help with reducing road accidents. Make realistic arrangements to reopen to Foreign Tourism some time next year or even 2022 when Covid situation should be hopefully under control.
-
It is too early to make any plans for foreign tourism of any kind. Wait until next year with provisional date about August when hopefully Covid will be more under control.

They will be very brave if they do visit Samui with ONLY this scheme the Island has been devastated by the Pandemic and will need large sums of Government Money until Tourism returns to anything like normal. Maybe good start will be free return tickets with Bangkok Air and heavily subsidised hotel accommodation
Bht 500/night and monthly payments to the many unemployed

Let's see logistics of such operation including arrangements for long stay visa. Don't think it will realistically create much tourist income if at all to benefit locals reliant on tourists who are now in a desperate situation. Government would need to have representives in respective countries to make the necessary arrangements where will they come from?
Overstay fines to start Tuesday, says Phuket Immigration

All these stories make me so sad does it really matter in these difficult time whether or not a few remaining foreigners stay or leave Thailand. What about the forgotten poor Thais reliant upon tourism now without any means to support them selves or their Children.
