Thailand has become a complete Joke with officials running about like headless chickens. It makes sense to continue with border closures but when this is considered no longer necessary it would be good to remember that from a tourist prospective there are plenty of alternative counties with good facilities and far cheaper so if Thailand wants to attract foreign tourism they will have to offer incentives for a start a 60 day visa waiver would be a start.

No second wave happening in China, 1245 in hospital. Same as before give or take.
Hope you are right but figures do not add up China unlikely to announce true number of infections same as they did with the first wave

They should annonce what they will do when people are vaccinated in 2021. Will they keep quarantine, insurance, etc??
Thailand has not ordered many vaccines so will have little effect as majority Thai population will not be vaccinated
Looks like opening 2022 earliest

The reason maybe that China and South Korea suffering a second wave which maybe far worse than the first as no substantial herd immunity few local infections during the first wave. Is this about to happen to Thailand?

Well, next year is only 31 days away, so this is not really an earth shattering announcement...
2022 earliest

At last an official who is speaking realistically. Must wait for the vaccine so probably earliest date for international tourism some time during 2022. Will not be same as before much more expensive with limited choice certainly not mass tourism.

They've had no failure at all.
The alternative is the pandemic taking hold like it has been in India, Europe, USA, South America - and a horrendous health situation. Even if they opened up during a horrific pandemic, you would see very few tourists.
Any income from tourism, would be dwarfed by the massive health crisis that the people of Thailand would face.
So Thailand's borders will need to be closed for many years to come. If so one winner nature will thrive

Thailand has been a victim of its own success by limiting the number of Covid infections however it seems that it has only been able to acquire a limited amount of Covid vaccines which according press reports will take a year or so to administer leaving the majority of the population unvaccinated
My question is seeing limited amount of infections so far and limited vaccination programme if borders reopened without sufficient herd immunity will Thailand be exposed to a large risk of a resurgance of Covid. If so the same risks will also apply to China on a very much larger scale.

Want to scare potential tourists from visiting Thailand this is the right way to proceed. It is bad enough having to report every where you stay and now this hairbrained scheme. Just gives the impression Thailand is so dangerous it is better to go elseware. Wait for the vaccine and then open up normally about June next year if all goes well

Hotels should realise it is not possible to open Thailand until Covid is under control and that they are only a small part of losses being incurred in Tourism and related busnesses Hotels are most able to sustain losses and should plan accordingly.

Now us not the time to open borders for Chinese or anyone else. It is essential viras kept surpressed amongst Thai People and press Government to ensure that a vaccine is purchased as soon as available for at least 80% of the population so that borders may be opened hopefully for the 2022 season

Unfortunately they have to keep adjusting their response as quite a few countries have weak inept governments, with politicians playing politics and populations full of Karens that won’t cooperate with even simple rules to end this which has resulted in this being a never ending disaster.
UK, France and Germany back under lockdown, the US recording nearly 100,000 new infections daily. Idiotic.
Infections and deaths worldwide are steadily rising, not improving. When this is finally over I reckon Thailand will see a quicker recovery than most places because they have proved themselves to be competent in handling it. And they deserve it.
Unfortunately this viras is forecast to be around for next 5 years so best not rush to admit any foreign tourist with or without quarantine

Really. Presume Robots will need to be recruited for the monitoring.
Seriously spouting such nonsense does not deserve reporting. Better to accept there will be no tourists and use time and energy making Thailand Greener and better place to live as mass tourism was destroying the environment

So many officials being paid to pluck meaningless predictions out of the air. Money would be better spent supporting the tourist industry so facilities are available when tourists are able to enter Thailand safely.

Tourist industry has too many Chiefs and no Indians better to let civil servants advise if and when to reopen to tourists but now is not the time it is better to accept peak season lost this year and find other ways to support the tourism and related businesses by way of Government subsidies

After all the sacrifices made owing Covid please do not make a mistake by reducing quarantine too early. At least it has now been accepted that the lady who tested positive for Covid in Samui is a Thai with duel nationality

I agree and sympathise, but don't forget, Laos borders are still closed, to all but a select few, even laos visa holders cannot get back in, and certainly not tourists via thailand at this present time.
I am still hoping that Asean neighbours, maybe with the exception of Burma, can come up with some sort of reciprocal arrangement.
Correct unfortunately tourism is just not going to happen whilst Covid so active and mutating becoming even more deadly

Covid is mutating and will not go away. For now Thailand should only admit it's own citizens into quarantine and forget about all foreign tourists even from low risk countries

So far your videos have been recorded in the best parts of Bangkok and Pattaya which give the impression everything is thriving without need for foreign tourists. Good so no need for building anymore Condo or other accommodation to be purchased by foreigners who should be discouraged from coming to or investing in Thailand
-
Whether they are tourists or not is irrelevant they are guinea pigs let's hope none of them develope or catch Covid whilst in Thailand. So far as when actual tourism occurs surely this will not be possible until at least 2012

Believe students demonstrating as many of them fear they will not have suitable job opportunities after they graduate which is not being helped owing economic recession owing covid. Thailand's economy was already declining before Covid both in respect of exports and tourism as they now have competing bordering counties so must change to make Thailand much more attractive to foreign investors and tourists including economic incentives

The good times are over. Best wait for prices to drop but let's face it buying property in Thailand is not an investment but paying rent up front as well as maintenance expenses. If you want investment best look elsewhere.

Really! Why not prepare a plan and execute it to vaccinate the entire population against Covid within the next 6 months that would be a start then a plan for an even playing field for business with minimal red tape and visa requirements and execute it.
