Really cool and exclusive high end scenarios = "that could be me factor".
Human tragedy and terrible life situations = "thank god that isn't me factor".
I have watched a few of Eddy's videos and wish him all the best. A true old school Brit; makes the most of things and gets on with it. All the best Eddy!

Quotethe charm and authenticity of Thai culture
Then what the heck is this ?!
Next to the Grand Palace of all places!
Is this the kind of thing that would look good standing next to most national landmarks?
https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/bangkok/40049951
All this talk about "soft power", then why not promote actual Thai culture, instead of copying things and turning the place into a homogeneous dump.

Although, it also could be that these problems occured after vaccination and getting the covid infection. Either way, a booster shot would be a sure NO for me and my wife also agrees to this. Each month new data shows the vaccines change the body in a negative way. So why risk something unforeseen. It already has been proven that the vaccine studies were not realistic and made to show the vaccine as a good thing while hiding side-effects.
An increased heart rate would most likely refer to tachycardia. I had one vaccination (I pretty much knew it was a scam but wanted to prove to myself that I was right). I suffered from tachycardia from about week 2 to week 8 after the vaccination. My resting heart rate went up to about 130-140. I figured out it was due to a cytokine storm and started taking anti-histamine to cope with it. It could just about keep it under control and I managed to wean myself off the antihistamine after about 3 months. I had to drastically alter my diet and take a range of supplements. All in all it took about a year to get back to normal. I had to do my own research and came up with many of the same conclusions that you can see on the internet today. While I was going through all this there was zero information out there. It was one of those episodes that my mother would call "character building"!!

Maharaja Singh agreed to accede his state (Jammu and Kashmir) to India rather than Pakistan (Oct 1947)
-
The roots of this conflict go back far further than the British Empire. The region was Hindu, then Buddhist, then conquered by the Muslims, then became part of a Sikh empire , then under Sikh/British control......
The Maharaja of the area (a Sikh aligned to the British) was the one who refused to cede to Pakistani control (during separation), and asked for help from the British and Hindus.
It is an issue that is far more complex than British colonialism!

That contradicts her claim that she had a bad foot and the staff allowed her to keep her shoes on and it was other customers who complained and filmed
None of us know what happened . We weren't there.

I see no proof that she was given permission. I wonder if anyone can provide such proof.
Absolutely right , I can see no proof that she was allowed to wear shoes.
I saw one explanation from a Thai (profile seemed to suggest she lived on the island).
She said that staff asked the girl to remove her shoes 3 times but she wouldn't. She then said a Thai(s) intervened because they were unhappy about the behaviour and felt sorry for the staff.

Will that money be going back into "Chinese pockets". Where I live, many of the hotels and tourist businesses are owned/run by Chinese. Most of their customers are also Chinese.

So, who should decide whether shoes should be worn on a premises ?
Who decides where the custom of taking shoes off should be ?
The shop owner was OK with shoes being worn in the restaurant
Is the shop owner on record as saying that (shoes OK) because I can't find anything on Thai social media mentioning quotes along those lines.

It seems that none of us were actually there, so no one knows what actually happened. So all this talk about sore feet, shoes or no shoes etc. is just hearsay.
I have my doubts about whether this argument was about shoes because if you look at the table there are half full glasses of drinks along with a plate of something that has already been eaten. In addition the ashtray looks quite full. It is possible that the table has not been cleared but I was not there so of course I don't know.
From what I can see it looks as though she got in an argument about something else (presumably with a Thai person - "your country").

If you look on the Pai Facebook page (Real Pai Family) you can see there is yet another issue involving the defacement of public signs with Hebrew stickers (leaving no question as to who put them there, as they are in Hebrew).
For some reason the Israelis seem to have chosen what used to be the most peaceful idyllic locations on the tourist trail! It seems somewhat ironic!
Sorry picture doesn't show but you can see on their facebook page

That's exactly what I'm doing!
Directly 2l cartons in 7-11 went above 90bht, I switched to Dairy Rich powder @225bht for 9 litres.
Big savings, 50% cheaper, and much easier than having to keep going out for milk.
Also saves more, as I'm not impulse buying because I visit 7-11 less.
"Local" , as in all the way from New Zealand !!!!!

CP Group: Makro, Lotus, 7/11, CP shops, ...

Central Group: Central Department Store, Tops, Big C, Go Wholesale, Thaiwatsadu, PowerBuy, ....

So I believe it will never give a price fight between them.
And they do it the same as the Supermarket chains in EU & USA. If a holiday come the prices gone up.At last someone has spotted the real problem.

Yes, I heard about this too. But I find it a bit belittling. Not all budget travellers leave piles of garbage on the road and overcrowd infrastructure. Some of them are very respectful and learn the local language.
From what I've seen it's mostly not the budget travellers who leave the trash. In my area 10-15 years ago you never used to see trash in the streets and there were only budget type accommodations along with residential houses. Fast forward to 2025 and you have pretty much no true budget accommodation left but you have about 20 mid range to high end hotels just in my neighbourhood. The amount of rubbish is ridiculous.
I find it interesting when people say "they want big spenders here". Who exactly are they? From what I can see almost none of the hotels are run by local people. Personally I don't feel good about lining the pockets of out of town (mostly BKK) or overseas investors. I would prefer that my money benefits the local community.
