  1. Yes, as per last sentence, second paragraph. Approved. I'll stick to using the full name in future.
  2. Normally I have no problems with the 90 day online reporting process but got a bit of a shock today. Submitted the report for Bangkok this morning and at about 2pm an email came back which I only half paid attention to as previously it's always said 'Your 90 day report is approved'. This time however I went and checked the details and top right corner was a 'REJECTED' marker. Went back and checked the email again and sure enough it said 'Your 90 day report is not approved'. Then I tried to fathom what I'd done wrong. There were no changes, no missed 90 day reports and nothing else that was in any way different from the previous online report with the new passport which had been approved (I'd already done the first 90 Day in the new passport person) so it was a bit of a "what the....." moment. I immediately submitted a new report and this time it bounced with an email almost immediately again saying 'Not Approved'. Started to mentally prepare myself for a trip to MTT and then, on checking again, read all the way down the form and there at the bottom in the comments section that I have never seen used before was "Please include your full name and resubmit". This was typed on the bottom of the also rejected second application. Previously, especially a few years ago when there were all manner of problems with online reporting, the advice had always been fill in only the details marked with the red asterisk and doing exactly that has always worked for me in the past. The Given and Middle name fields are not marked with an asterisk. As such I was quite surprised to have the report bounce but I did as requested and this time received an email again almost immediately saying 'Approved'. Breathes a sigh of relief! I'm not sure if there's a person involved in the process or whether it's a fully automated system. Either way this requirement for your full name may have been a one-off (more likely I guess if it's just a picky IO) or it may be the 'new normal' for 90 day online. So, if anyone else gets a rejection notice, check the comments section of your submission, it may have been rejected for this reason. If this is the new normal, it would useful if they would update the system with red asterisks for Given and Middle names too.
  3. Mostly in the past I've used a bank letter dated the day before my appointment, picked it up when I go to collect my 12 month statement, but I've always used the monthly transfer option up to now so wasn't sure if they wanted anything different with the deposit method. I guessed not but where Immigration is concerned I prefer not to guess, less critical now of course now the 'maximum 3 days before expiry' renewal stipulation has been dispensed with and we're back to up to 45 days (at CW at least), time to correct any problems. My main goal with this is to reduce the amount of trips to the bank (get letter, get statement, get book updated on the day of application), preferably down to one. If I can get all of that done in the morning before a pm appointment at CW that would be ideal. That app functionality would sure help. Will look next week and mail them if, as I suspect, the function doesn't miraculously become available for foreigners.
  4. Called into my Krungsri Branch today and asked about the app / certificate request function. Turns out that the Request Certificate function in the app under 'All Menu' is the correct option to select and that it is indeed for the certificate / letter that is required for Immigration. The staff member showed me on her phone / app what happens when it's working, you basically get a screen prompt asking you to verify the details that will be used in the certificate are all correct and you then get to select what branch to pick it up from. Sadly, it does seem that this function is only currently enabled for Thai citizens (albeit she suggested that only after I mentioned it as a possible reason as to why I get the 'You are not eligible for this service' when I try to use it). She did say that all Krungsri systems will be down over the weekend for a major upgrade and that it may be worth checking after that if the function works or not. I'm not holding out much hope however. If it still doesn't work I may email their customer service address and see what they say about it. While I was there I did ask how long it would take for a 12 month statement and the letter / certificate to be produced (given that at Bangkok Bank it's a 3-4 day wait even from the HQ, 7 days for a local branch for the 12 month statement), she said no wait time, immediately. She also said that previously there was a wait of about 1 hour for the letter but that is no longer the case. Whether that means they can now produce them immediately at Chaeng Wattana I'm not sure. If the CW booking online is up and running next time I go to renew I plan to book an appointment at 1pm and go to the bank to pick up the documents in the morning.
  5. Right, thanks. I'll ask when I go to the branch in a week or two and post back here. It's not THAT important really but, if there's anything that makes the yearly paper trawl easier I'm happy to use it. Hopefully I'll get a clued up staff member that can bottom this out one way or another (rather than someone who just doesn't know and takes the easy option of saying 'cannot' rather than finding out).
  6. I'm thinking that too, even maybe as you say, it's a totally different certificate. I have to go to the branch some time in the next month or so, I'll ask. Only got me wondering given that another forum member was told by a Krungsri staff member that the app could be used to requested the account letter in advance when he was waiting for one at CW (and thus the staff member was highly unlikely to have been talking about a request feature for a different document). Of course there could be a few possibilities given the thread was from 2020: 1) It was a function of an older App version, not the current one 2) The staff member was mistaken 3) The function might still be there but we have wrongly assumed it's the 'Request Certificate' menu item 4) It IS that (or indeed any other menu item) but it's Thai citizen only No big deal at the end of the day but I'll explore it when I next go to Krungsri on the off chance that the function is there and can be used, anything that makes the Immigration admin trawl easier. Costs nothing to ask but I'm not holding out much hope.
  7. We all know it's available. Shouldn't take a rocket scientist to work out the context in which the comment was made given the topic! Then again, there's always one (or more!). Some people just go out of their way to not get the point ????
  8. Yes I know any branch does the letter. At CW though the wait time can be 45 minutes which can make the timing of arrival at Counter L a bit tricky IF you / Immigration want the letter to match the 'on the day' activity / bank book update that Immigration require . It was mentioned in another post that the app can be used to request the certificate so it will be ready to pick up. Hence the question / topic being about THAT function in the app and whether anyone has used it, not about other ways of getting said certificate.
  9. The infographic under the text entry though does refer to foreigners being able to apply for all types of extensions 45 days in advance from 4 September 2021.
  10. Different people / different banks call it different things. What a banking app may call it throws another combination of terms into the mix. Other than statements and credit advices I don't know of other bank requirements for Immigration. I'm referring to the account ownership letter / certificate or any other combination of certificate type terms one cares to use (e.g. Fred, passport number ####, has this bank account and today the balance is etc etc'). This is the document that was being referred to in the older post where it was mentioned. There is no one single term for it (except in Thai).
  11. And the obsession with the the 'demon' alcohol continues. Time for a new dress code maybe.....
  12. In another thread there was mention of a Krungsri staff member telling a user that the bank account letter (ownership certificate) can be ordered in advance for pick up using the KMA app. I've only recently opened a Krungsri account and in the app under 'All Menu' there is indeed a tab named 'Request Certificate'. When I tap on it I get the message 'You are not eligible to do this transaction'. Assuming that this certificate is in fact the certificate required for Immigration has anyone with a Krungsri account / app successfully used this function? Given the message I get I'm not sure if it's yet another of those 'Thai citizen only' functions or whether it's just not working for me because the account is too new or whether the branch need to set something up to be able to use it. I have to go to the branch in a weeks or two so will check this amongst a few other things. Might be useful given the 45 minute wait time at CW to get the letter from the branch there.
  13. Old thread now but, when searching for something else, this thread popped up in relation to it being suggested by Krungsri staff that it's possible to use the Krugsri KMA app to request an account ownership letter for pick up at a branch. Figured this might be quite useful in terms of trying to cut down the waiting time at CW when I go next (albeit that's next year). I've only just opened a Krungsri account (Mee Tae Dai as the interest it pays is still better than Bangkok Bank) and wasn't aware of this functionality at the time. Just checked the app and there is indeed a 'Request Certificate' tab under the 'All Menu' section. Assuming that is the correct document, when I select that it returns 'You are not eligible to do this transaction'. Not sure whether that's because of the oft encountered 'Thai citizens only' or whether it's for some other reason (e.g. wrong account type or account opened too recently). Couple of things I need to clarify with the branch when I next go in (12 month statement and account ownership letter costs and wait times etc) so I'll add it to the list.
  14. I watch the news daily for an announcement that they have created chicken flavour carrots, beef flavoured broccoli and lamb flavoured potatoes. I enjoying eating but these bloody vegetables get tiresome ???? I think chicken flavoured KFC will be a long way off though, even when they use chicken.
  15. And yet something ELSE introduced into the mix. Green and yellow cards for fully vaccinated / recovered customers. Did they form a 'Make this as complicated as possible' Committee? How long before we get light green, green and dark green cards? Turqouise maybe?
  16. I can't understand why the heck this guy is even still in custody! He's sworn on his amulet! Surely that should be the end of it? ????
  17. Unbelievable the level of 'reward' he's allegedly been liable to receive as a reward for just doing his job as a 'cop'. With the levels of poverty in Thailand it's beyond obscene that a public servant should be able to amass that much wealth from seizures, the sums involved make even the 7-8 figure bonuses paid to some CEOs of multi-nationals, bonuses that the media are often up in arms about, seem paltry by comparison.
  18. Yeah it's the top left icon in the app. Only method I use now with Kasikorn, for ages I thought to myself why don't Bangkok Bank have this too, until I got to actually looking and found they did. One less thing to carry around in the wallet (or leave in the bloody machine which I've done twice).
  19. Thanks for the helpful pointers on this, the TIN and Krungsri. Decided to tackle both today given we're still in partial lockdown, figured everywhere might be quiet; dead right! Got it all done in what must be record time, just 87 minutes total to do the Tax ID (TIN) AND open the MTD account at Krungsri and that included travel time! Literally nobody at the Revenue office (floor 23 at Times Square if using area 13), I had managed to find the form LP10.1 online (a fillable PDF but in Thai only) so that helped cut the time down. Couple of questions about why I needed a TIN given I'm retired and was done and out in 10 minutes. They print your TIN with your details on a small card. Only documents I needed were the application form and passport / extension copy which I'd done and signed before going. Then off to Krungsri to open the account at Em Quartier. First through the door at 11:00, no problem opening the account at all, very helpful staff. Again, only passport / extension needed along with the TIN. I did take signed passport copies with me but she copied them herself so she could see me sign them all. No SFQs, no awkward 'cannot' or 'have work permit?' questions, she even told me not to bother with an ATM card as she said it's not worth it. Downloaded the KMA app while I was there, she set me up with a temporary password after I'd paid the opening deposit (min 500 baht), finalised the app set up while I was in the branch, the app can then be used for cardless withdrawal (so even less need for an ATM/debit card). Brilliant service, done and out within about 25 minutes. So, all set, test transfer to the account done using Wise (AKA Transferwise), once those funds turn up tomorrow I'll start sending over the 850K (50K leeway)
  20. I very much doubt it's his actual 'chue len', rather a name he's been assigned by others. I'm not particularly interested either way, just posting the way I understand it to be written and the way I have seen it written in Thai articles which don't bother with how westerners might choose to interpret the sound of Thai words.
  21. Does make me smile on these CCSA briefings when they keep saying 'we continue to promote the spirit of international cooperation' which I guess is the face saving way of saying don't turn us away when we come round with the begging bowl.
  22. Added to which of course are the DIY cocktailing decisions people might end up taking of their own volition which may also throw a spanner in the works. The WHO sadly seems incapable of doing much of any use at all, other than playing catch-up trying to back-peddle on their ill-conceived nuggets of advice. But you can rely on the WHO to pop up and advise countries on what they should be doing a month after they started doing it. Waste of space organisation.
