  1. One issue to eliminate when this kind of symptom is encountered with websites (low chance but easy to try) is a prompt that gets hidden behind other windows. Try minimising all the visible windows. Sometimes, lo and behold, the hidden prompt will appear.
  2. Can you cite a source for this. My own understanding was that the permission to stay was honoured, with no deportation or fines. However, future requests for visas, extensions and visa exempt entries frequently resulted in denials. The consensus seemed to be that the extensions were legally valid, but acquired using shady practices. Retribution was not via prosecution, but future discrimination against those who received them.
  3. When you use an agent who uses unapproved ways to get you a visa/extension, I am not aware of any cases that have resulted in you being prosecuted. However, you can face problems from Immigration later making your life difficult. A classic example, affecting many Westerners, was those who acquired the dodgy Non O (Volunteer) visa and extension.
  4. The issue, most likely, is that there was no record of her using her Thai passport to leave Thailand. The official might have wanted to confirm that she left Thailand via legal means.
  5. Jomtien has local rules on TM30 (different from the official rules) that they may or may not enforce.
  6. It is interesting that the issue arose at exactly the same time as multiple entry Non O visas became harder to get in Savannakhet. As you say, it is possible that this is a deliberate global change mandated from on high.
  7. Plenty of rural Thai families live on less than half of this. If there is no rent to pay, and you grow much of your own food, you can live surprisingly cheaply up country in Thailand.
  8. It is my guess that this is an error on the e-visa website following recent updates. Others have reported the problem. If you can afford to wait a week or two before making the application, I advise you to do so. Such a basic error should be corrected reasonably quickly one would think. If you cannot afford to wait, contact the embassy for advice.
  9. On the assumption that the man's income (transferred to a Thai bank account) is all the money that the family have to live on, and foreign credit/debit cards are not used, maybe so. It is unclear, even in that case though, that the wife and children would be better off if their provider was not present. As is often pointed out, a foreign woman can stay with her Thai husband without showing any income at all.
  10. If you are living with a teenaged child in Thailand, it should be possible to get this sorted out with just a supporting letter from your wife. You might run into roadblocks at the amphoe or immigration office, but it should be possible to get things sorted out. You will need the child with you at both the amphoe and at immigration.
  11. If you look at their schedule of fees (https://image.mfa.go.th/mfa/0/nrpgTpGLMX/Consular_Fee_9_May_2022.pdf) the multiple entry Non O visa is there. That does not mean they actually issue it. The only way to know is to ask.
  12. Good luck! I will be very surprised if airport immigration will stamp you in just based on a photocopy of the re-entry permit. Indeed, you might even have a problem at airline check in. This seems like a major problem which has been created through no fault of your own. You have my sympathy.
  13. I am not sure if you are saying it is unfair that Immigration push the responsibility onto you (I agree) or are denying that they do.
  14. To be fair, it is not exactly the same each year. Many offices will find it necessary to tell you to provide something never needed before. Further, using the same photographs as before is not permitted. They need evidence that your house number, bedroom etc. still exist.
  15. Nice in theory. The reality is different (though it does depend a bit on the immigration office). Most often, if you are renting, the officials do not want to go to the trouble of chasing your landlord. Instead, they will state that you are the "possessor", and it is your responsibility to ensure that the TM30 notification is done.
  16. It has been tried, sometimes successfully, sometimes not. Besides using a VPN, it will be necessary to falsify the required copies of pages from your passport. If lots of people start trying this, they will probably start employing VPN detectors, and block access to the e-visa site through a VPN. That would be unfortunate as there can be legitimate reasons for using a VPN.
  17. That is actually an ancient requirement that was only in force for a few months and was rescinded (as I recall) about 10 years ago or so. As usual, embassy/consulate websites cannot be relied upon to provide accurate information on anything other than the services they provide themselves (and sometimes not even then).
  18. There should be no fee for submitting a TM30 notification, whether done online or in person.
  19. Tak immigration does not have a good reputation, but there should be no problem with a 30-day extension anywhere. The border crossing at Maesot is currently closed, with no prospect of an early reopening. Enjoy your holiday. If you plan cycling around Tak province, I hope you are fit.
  20. You have everything important covered. Just a couple of notes on less important matters. Officially, returning from abroad on a re-entry permit, you do not have to do a new TM30 notification. However, some immigration offices demand that one is done. Your next 90-day address report, after your return, will be due in June (90 days after your return).
  21. This is unclear. I would not be surprised if HCMC require the money to have been in the account for a couple of months, while Savannakhet just want to see evidence that it is/was there shortly before the application.
  22. There have been multiple credible reports. I believe it.
