  1. Well it was a sight better that the previous two games but I was troubled at how every time the ball was crossed into the area they looked like scoring.

England fell asleep again when they should have knocked Sweden off the park.

Unless something drastic happens then it'll be back to the Manor house by July for the bone idle passionless set of tossers.

  2. One reson so few Westerners visit NPs anymore (myself included) is because I find 200B to go for a wander through usually crowded places full of larriking Thais on a toot, throwing litter everywhere, a tad of a rip off.

I haven't been to a NP in ages but probably would go a lot more often were the price more reasonable. There are exceptions but not too many these days alas.

At 400B I can expect Western visitors to NPs to tail off pretty much totally.

Another scandal recently was getting charger 100B to take the train to Kanchanaburi!? 100B for a 3rd class train trip! I showed my WP and got the local price in a shot but was not too impressed by that scandal either.

Its taking the p*ss plain and simple. The tired old 'We're from rich nations' argument as put forward by that geezer in his odd essay above doesn't wash and never has.

  3. Well in a way Germany might not be too bad a thing as England do seem to lift their game for the bigger sides.

I can see how it must be hard getting 'up' for a game against Paraguay and T and T, when you really want to be scrapping with the big guns.

I would hate to go out by the odd goal in a lack lustre performance against Ecuador which seems a distinct possibility.

I guess to go out in a blaze of glory against the hosts would be a lot better as we did in Euro 2004.

  4. A well known manager (it could have been Keegan but I can't recall) once said that 'there are no easy games anymore in international football' a few years ago.

I was just downstairs having a smoke and chewing the fat with the university drivers who were full of praise for England. At first I was agog and couldn't believe that they had been watching the same game as me. One guy then said that nearly every team in the World Cup Finals has at least 4 players who play in the top European leagues and rolled off the Trinidad and Tobago players who paly or have played in the Premiership and he has a very good point!

There are no really weak sides in this World Cup. There have been sides who have played beneath expectations and have been battered for it eg USA, Japan and Ukraine but as for truly weak sides as we used to see in the past in Finals........?

Remeber some of the whipping boys in the past and compare them to the so called whipping boys in this World Cup.

The rest of the World are catching up. I think this WC has been a good indicator of that.

I must admit it made a nice change to talk football with the drivers as usually on a Friday I usually get grilled as to where I'm going this weekend and is there a woman involved etc. Why do Thai men have a one track mind!!?? but thats besides the point.

  5. Cant believe that the Sun only gave Aaron Lennon 5. To me he was the difference, not Rooney. He gave us that pace and inspiration and tore them apart down the right wing. From his first run, we started to look threatening.

    He must start in future.

Agree 100%. Until Lennon came on we had failed to beat a man. Lennon was the first player to actually go past anyone and pose a threat. He was my Man of the Match.

  6. The 5-1 was a one off!

The only truly convincing competitive game we've had under SGE!

Bring on Ecuador who looked pretty ordinary!

  7. Are you talking whole pig or a suckling pig?

As for cooking time, well it really depends on how well you can regulate the heat. You must be careful not to have the heat too high as the pig can burn on the outside and still be raw on the inside. You are talking about a big piece of meat here!! If you're worried about the time it takes, just start your party earlier.

The 'slow and low' rule is often best to use here (as it is with an ordinary Pork roast) and with a slow roast you have plenty of time to sink a few beers as well. Pork is always nice and fatty and if you keep the heat fairly low the meat will not dry out.

Stuff the pig with mixture of breadcrumbs, butter, cracked black pepper, salt, crushed garlic, onion, and sage if you can find it.

Rub the skin with plenty of oil, pepper and salt and leave for at least an hour before cooking.

  8. I agree with John! Just like we ran into the Argies last time I can see us meeting the Germans in the next round.

You got to be kidding about Joe Cole Lampy! He gave the ball away countless times especially when trying pointless snapshots through a wall of Trinidadian shirts. Looked a shadow of the player he was this gone season!

I reckon they should shove Sven to the side, bung Mourinho a million, and let him sort them out!

  9. Well, T and T proved themselves a tough proposition to break down against Sweden. For large parts of the match they had 9 men behind the ball which never makes for an entertaining flowing game. (Australia take note of this for Saturday!)

The irony is that when they actually played football T and T actually looked quite a fair side. Shame was though they were too afraid to play for an extended period in fear that England would exploit any gaps left at the back.

England: Crouch (who's goal may just have saved his WC) and Lampard both need an absolute slating today. Shape up or <deleted> off back to the Buddha Club and swanning around Kensington with your poncey mates. Lampard couldn't have finished a p*ss last night, Crouch was no better, and the less said about Joe Cole the better.

Its all too easy to blame Sven so I will! Why do England play so slowly when the natural game for all these players is the fast Premiership pace? Knocking the ball around the back 4 is an Italian/Continental thing; NOT an English thing.

We've got to start attacking sides - going for the jugular- and imposing ourselves on them; dominating them, or we're not going too far in this WC either. This pussyfooting around must end. Theres no point in reserving anything for later rounds if there are no later rounds!

  10. I really enjoyed this game. It was the best 'Match' in terms of evenly matched teams - not entertainment - of the tournament so far. Neither team was a massive underdog so there was no need to play their skins off and the resulting product was a good earthy, gritty game of football. Rather like a good top of the Championship clash after a load of rather balnd Premiership games!

The less said about the prediction comp the better......... :o

  11. Indeed why can they not show the highlights of the days royal news at 7.30 instead of 8? To say that they won't delay or swap the times for anything is nonsense as I recall Paradorn Srichapan's winning match against Agassi at Wimbledon a few years ago being shown on 7 and not being interuppted for any kind of news, royal or otherwise despite being a 7pm start local time.

Nope. I'm afraid that there are other darker machinations here at work and it smacks of just the kind of stunt Squarehead would pull to make his opponents look bad.

If its any grain of comfort they were all buggering off home yesterday so hopefully it will be service as usual, or not as the case may be.

  12. My threepennorth is that whilst I appreciate fully the magnitude of recent events, the need to show (now well repeated) highlights included people getting in and out of cars and off airplanes across EVREY channel, borders on the removal of the freedom of choice and state control of the media.

To read some of the comments here (blatent trolls apart) you would seem to think that the Thais are knelt infront of their TVs every night praising HM. Well judging by the crowds of Thais I've had in my place (house, not bar!) and their own coments, I'd say some of you are a little over cautious and arse licky I'm afraid.

Thais are people just the same as we are. During the day they have paid their respects to HM the King, however in the evenings (it appears from the comments I've heard these last couple of nights and today at work) they would also rather like to watch the football in the evening and not a rehash of everything they've spent all day watching.

These Thais have not flown 6000 miles to watch the football but would rather like to watch it. Their take on this is that 'Old Square Head' is using the celebrations as an excuse to have a go at Chang Beer and Dhospak both of whom have p*ssed him off in the past. Sounds likely to me!

  13. I took a leaf out of JD's book and had a look at some of the OP's posts.

Why bother with a 'Mia Noi' when you can't seem to handle one woman!?

My advice to you is to keep your money in your pocket and blow it down at your local fishbowl each month instead. At least you know what you're getting there.

  14. ProfessorFart You are so out of touch as the Asian community have a very good selection of programs in their language and have dedicated radio stations in the uk

Coming from Rochdale I hardly think I'm out of touch with the Asian community! Indeed they do have many programs which tend to be community and current afrfairs specific and many are broadcast in English.

Could you imagine the uproar if for the upcoming England vs Pakistan series they began demanding that the commentary be in Urdu or Hindi?

I'll repeat that if you can't enjoy a game because of the commentary then you must have a problem.

  15. I can make it and shouldn't be erm 'jetlagged' this time.

Good idea to meet somewhere else first and then head to BF. BF is fine but a bit loud when trying to meet folks.

  16. English is Thailand’s second language as it is taught in the schools for all ages

Chang beer has involvement with the English premiership

Unfortunatley Thai is the country's first language. Could you imagine in the UK the Asian community demanding that Cticket Tests have a Hindi or Urdu commentary?

At the end of the day does it really matter as long as you can see the pictures which seems to be most people's concerns at the moment?
