  1. yeah, i'm hoping with our condo being a new build and the first six floors being car parking, they have actually located all of this with some elevation....but...
  2. Fingers crossed for you. We moved to South Bangkok via central BKK after getting flooded out in 2011 from BangBuaThong in Nonthaburi province But earlier this year, purchased 2nd property (condo) back in Nonthaburi... by the river.. haha... never been lucky but at least its on the 12th floor this time
  3. Not sure, if price changed, it was my first time there. I opted to pay in Thai baht as that was what i had. There is an option to get the visa online prior to arrival someone mentioned earlier in this thread. Again, sorry not sure. I went on a Thursday morning and picked up on Friday afternoon but looking at the website, you can go any day Monday to Friday
  4. So, went to savannakhet and got one year multi entry. Took with me following docs:- Marriage cert, original and copy Kor Roh 2 (wife got from amphur cost 1 (yes One) baht copy of my passport copy of wifes passport main page and copy of wifes ID card copy of yellow house book with pages showing wife name and also pages with childrens names on filled in application form passport sized photos (more on this later) Absolute breeze at consulate, (open between 09:00 and 11:00) lady checked docs, attached passport sized photos to application for me. Paid 5000bht and received receipt and ticket for collection next day at 14:00 The only downside to be wary of.... Caught bus from Mukdahan bus station to Laos. Bus stops at Thai immigration, get off bus, go through immigration to get stamped out, get back on bus, no problem for me but only half the passengers had got through immigration and back on the bus before the driver closed the doors and set off to the Laos side of the bridge. They would then probably have to wait for one hour for the next bus! Got visa on arrival in Laos (1500bht and 30mins) went through immigration and took tuk tuk. Wife had called me to say i had left my Photos on the table at home. Tuk Tuk driver who spoke good English took me to photo shop, explained to the owner what i needed and took me to consulate once i had photos... 200 baht On return, i took tuk tuk to the Laos immigration, straight after getting stamped out, buy your bus ticket back to mukdahan before going through turnstile. The booth is hard to spot as looks same as the IO booth Hope this helps somebody
  5. Leaning towards Savannakhet, as it has been verified on here of requirements
  6. Not really, after application, i already left again whilst still under consideration ????
  7. This will be my option. Have plenty of funds thank you. Due to working offshore, never spend more then 3 weeks at a time in LOS, therefore its this option or Thai Elite..... think i prefer this one thanks
  8. Agree with others. Much prefer flying direct with Thai to the ME carriers, and at the moment Thai are cheaper. Food is better on main meal, breakfast though , is seriously lacking in taste/quality but same can be said with all the others. Plus 3-3-3 seating. flew from CPH a couple weeks ago, masks required to be worn on flight but noticed many didnt
  9. Did my own after following a couple of threads on here with no electrical background/knowledge. I certainly wouldn't attempt a house rewire like yourself. Mine was a simple configuration using a grid tie inverter that simply plugs into an existing socket, as i saw others doing on this forum and guessed it was something i could manage (shout outs to @Crossy and @BritManToo ) I too have old style spinning meter and export "unofficially" to the grid during the day. This is also why i only went to cover 50-60% of usage to avoid getting switched to new style meter, and maybe increase capacity after this set up has paid for itself. Set up is coming up to two years and still on course to have paid for itself within my three year target, even with having changed one grid tie inverter. Obviously when the grid goes down, so does our power so your second bird wont be killed but whilst you still have old spinning meter, it will certainly help bring your bills down and after R.O.I you will already have some infrastructure for your proposed set up bought and paid for before the more costly expense of a hybrid system
  10. Yes, but i have factored that into my equation, im still 10ish years from retirement so still got time to add and hopefully the state pension and small company pension will also have increased, One wife is enough thanks ????
  11. Not retired, so still earning and currently living on 100k bht / month. But that is living in Bangkok and with wife and 3 kids. Biggest expense is school fees. I would say very comfortable lifestyle so if One person cannot manage on 50k/month then i think the wife and i are going to be well F@&ked living on that between us when i retire haha
  12. Flying every three weeks between EU and BKK, I think it polite to tell you, Thai Airways have been my cheapest option on all but two occasions
  13. Dave Navarro of Janes Addiction complimented by the great bass of Eric Avery
  14. What has the link got to do with deaths on Thailands roads? Did you read the link you posted? He crashed while showing of trying to impress the girl. Why do you think this one accident will lead to more deaths on Thailands roads? Why is the driver tested 'being over the legal limit for driving' despite been in what was found to be an unroadworthy car and having witness testimony that he was showing off, your take out from the article?
  15. Unfortunately i dont have 'that' amount of funds haha
  16. i work offshore, working 21days on/off but after travelling this equates to 18 full days in LOS. I have a Thai wife and children and have been living in Thailand for 14 years. I had Non O, first on marriage then on retirement but it expired whilst i was out of country, unable to return during covid. Since return allowed, i have been coming in using visa exempt. I would prefer to do the right thing and have my permission to stay
  17. So i will be entering on visa exempt for only 18 days, so in reality, i will need to apply in the first day or two to enable to get approval in time. Is it allowed to do this?
  18. I remember this was the case for my Non O based on marriage, but isn't the Non O based on retirement approved same day or am i mistaken? TIA
  19. Is it possible to to get multi entry/reentry permit on the 90 day extension? I am looking to get non O retirement on this method but with work committments i need to leave frequently TIA
  20. No Panic here. When C19 devastated the markets i was roughly showing 35-40% down. Just kept on with my monthly additions. 12-18 months later I was already back to showing around 5% green in international portfolio and 10% green on SET. With this latest bear, Im showing 10% red on international and level on SET. No Panic, i will just keep on adding, the markets will be back to a Bull way before my retirement
  21. Yes, i had been using visa exempt for 9+ years before i was pulled and "advised" by an IO to get a visa. Thanks for your insight, For some reason i was thinking i had to wait until near the end of the 30 days before applying for an extension, the way you describe , if doable, will be a much preferred option, thanks
  22. Im UK citizen currently in Thailand,(leaving tonight) working in the North sea on 3on 3 off rotation. I previously had Non O based on retirement, and before that on marriage, but this elapsed last year when unable to travel back to Thailand. I have been travelling back on my time off using visa exempt but obviously the stamps are starting to build up and having to leave Thailand after 3weeks, to return to work, before any extension on visa exempt can be made . I still have the 800k in Thai bank but always thought a Non O was only available inside Thailand
  23. Hi DrJack, i thought only OA available from outside Thailand, im looking at the online Evisa and can only see OA and OX. For Non O , do you have to apply in person? TIA
