Facebook Video Sparks Cleanup at Pattaya's Abandoned Waterfront Condo
jcmj replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
They need to just squash the lawsuits and tear that eyesore down. It been years and years since it stopped being built and for some reason, unknown to us all, that it hasn’t been torn down. -
It is very sad that these poor souls had to die this way. They and their families deserve prayers. Also it must have been horrible as a firefighter or paramedic to be there. I just hope that they will learn from this and go back to the old days when we had fire drills in the bus to know how to escape. Obviously this doesn’t always work but it certainly helps.

Bangkok Bank + insurance (package deal)
jcmj replied to lostintransit's topic in Insurance in Thailand
Just took a friend who is buying a condo here but on a tourist visa and BB wanted 22,000 baht for the insurance to open an account. I knew it used to be around 4,000 baht but that was a long time ago. If you can get an agent to do it cheaper, I say go for it. -

Police Guard Banks to Prevent Loan Sharks from Seizing 10,000 Baht Handout

As if these loan sharks don’t know where the people live. They will get it one way or another. -
Homeless woman with multilingual skills goes viral in Thailand
jcmj replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
So many people assume that the homeless are stupid or substance addicted, but that is not always the case here and this points it out. Many are fighting mental illnesses such as depression or anxiety and are often happier out on their own away from what triggers their illness. Each individual needs to be treated with respect and care for their own needs. Also the crude comments about how she looked and looks now need to step in front of a mirror and see how well they have aged. -
I’m hiring it: McDonald’s Thailand adds Texas Chicken crew to menu
jcmj replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I prefer McDonalds fried spicy chicken. Much better than the others IMO -
I gave the Jomtien immigration the letter from the bank and a full year’s statement and they still wanted a copy of every page of the bank book for this past year. So don’t even bother with the year statement from the bank. Just a waste of paper. They also didn’t need my TM30 or my 90 day receipt. But at least they were quick. In and out in 10 minutes.

I don’t think that you’re able to get low dose ketamine here so I’d just stick with what is working for you right now. Everyone reacts different to pain meds. I have had chronic pain ever since I got GBS and they tried morphine which had no effect. Fentanyl which helped but I couldn’t sleep on it and a few others. The only thing that did help was Percocet which I had while in America. Unfortunately they only have the slow release tablets here and they don’t work for me and are expensive. I’m still trying to figure it out with my doctors but it’s not easy. I understand your frustration, but just take what works for you. Chronic pain is not something that I’d wish on anyone.

Pheu Thai Defends Casino-Entertainment Complex Plan, Eyes GDP Boost
jcmj replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
If they truly intend to use a good part of the taxes to improve Thai education and improve the the infrastructure I’d be happy with it, but I just don’t think that’s going to happen. It’s just going to make the rich richer. -
Chinese Woman Arrested at Phuket Airport For Using Other Person’s Passport
jcmj replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
I’m sure this isn’t the first one or the last one, but glad they stopped her. I’m sure since she’s Chinese it’ll be some misunderstanding 🤨 -
Italy Advances Proposal for Chemical Castration of Rapists and Pedophiles
jcmj replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I don’t think this is enough. It may curb some potential abuse but changing their dirty minds is another thing. These sickos who are convinced of rape or child abuse should be punished harder. They don’t deserve the air they breathe. JMO -

Thailand’s golden rice grain faces storm from strong baht and India
jcmj replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Well they can only thank the BOT for making the baht stronger. The exporters are going to be hit hard. -
I just did mine in Jomtien and they didn’t give me a form or ask me to come back in 3 months to show proof of money. To be honest I never did when they gave me the form and never had any issues. Granted I always have at least 800,000 baht in the bank account. I’m sure each immigration department is different.

158 dems vote against bill to deport illegals, who commit sex crimes
jcmj replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
I’m just surprised that anyone would be willing to keep them there. They should be deported immediately for any crimes. They aren’t even legally entitled to live there and if they commit crimes they definitely aren’t entitled to a jail term paid for by the citizens.- 103 replies

New Rules Restrict Street Vending to Low-Income Thais Only
jcmj replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Most don’t report their income anyway so it’s going to be almost impossible to enforce. If they are making good money and have built up a successful business why should they have to stop. Thai leaders logic never makes sense, and these “laws” about the stall location and not blocking the pathway or streets are rarely checked by the police unless there are multiple complaints and they do a week long show of face.
