  1. Disgusting and disgraceful actions by these morons. She is no longer married to Thaksin and probably only tied to the extended family because she gave birth to his children. By all means protest against the government and politicians but leave other people alone you bloody animals.

I agree to the words discusting and disgraceful to a certain extent in your post. However, we all know the reason behind the devorce from Thaksin, but does that mean she also devorced from her past involvement in the fishy Ratchada land deal? If angry people blow whistles in view of that, I find it hard to condemn them.

  2. It's about having access to the trough for the next 50 years. One lot of oligarchs had it for the last 50, this is about settling who gets shoved out or stays for the next.

I guess it is more a struggle between the untouchable, influencial family clans who are ruling this country for decades. Sad but interesting to see that so many people regardless of the color are willingly taking the part becoming pawn sacrifice on their masters chess board.

That prooves education of the masses is not welcomed by the upper part and probably to inconvenient for the lower side. Ever heard the phrase: thinking makes me headache, overhere? The millenniums-old give ‘ em bread and games strategy works well here in form of Thai-soaps and EPL. In Thailand hese things seem far more attractive than thoughts about the strukture of the society people live in.

Dr Aat noted that Thailand may lose the status of leading rice exporter in ASEAN

You are behind the times sir Thailand has already lost it.

There is also the high processing cost in Thailand as compared to Vietnam and Burma which was quoted recently as :

    Thailand 9266 B per ton

    Vietnam 5615 B per ton

    Burma 4353 B per ton

No we don't need farmers subsidized by hundreds of billions a year that only leads to dependency, high costs and inefficiencies.

There will need to be some support in the short term but the goal must be to get costs down and profit per rai up.

I recently filmed with the group responsible for producing Cambodia's award winning rice (voted number 1 in the world 2 years running) and it was interesting that these guys told me Thailand has one of the worst ratio's of rice being produced per hectare. Even worse that Cambodia, who's rice business is still recovering from the civil war. They also noted that the country has been flooded by Thai rice traders over the past year.

Thailand would do well to concentrate on farmer education.

"Thailand would do well to concentrate on farmer education."

Nice Idea! Except, how would you keep any explanation about an economically suicidal rice pledging system out of the curriculum? Btw any kind of education does not work so well in this country anyway.

  4. "... the red shirts have suggested she should exercise civil disobedience against court rulings or decisions by independent agencies that go against the caretaker government."

That’s probably the best practice of “Democracy” they are capable understand.

They can’t run this Nation with a halway decent government and they are unable to stage a propper revolution. I can’t figure out how anyone can find a compromise in the middle.

  5. He's a "Belgian"? Then why does he look - dare I say it? - Thai? Something doesn't add up here, Dr. Watson.

Mankind has had the ability to travel and migrate for some time now, I'm sorry to hear that this development has passed you by, because it has led to some very interesting mixtures of heredity and culture.

Would you believe that there are black, white AND asian people that live in North America for example - amazingly it is not only Native Americans any more, and you can observe similar patterns in most countries around the world.

There are naturalised white people in Australia, and in Africa, and there are naturalised black people in the UK and many other places in Europe, naturalised asians as well! Crazy concept, but it is quite possible that this man of asian heredity may, in fact be Belgian.

I appreciate that the past few centuries may have passed you by, and that presently this revelation may be world-rocking for you, but you'll get used to it (well, you probably should..).

Is it possible that something passed you by also? If it is positive a person is always referred to as a Thai. If it is negative, thank god he holds a foreign passport.

  6. "PDRC guards said the explosion started from about 1.00 a.m. and ended before dawn today."

"Almost 20 explosions were counted by guards from midnight to 4.00 a.m. today coupled with gunshots."

So where were the even on-the-ball police force while all this was happening?

Oh, sorry after hours how silly of me.

Was there any ear medicine tasting session that night on the premisses of the guy in charge?
