hello all
being a expat brit i and living and working in asia, I am not keen on keeping all my money in thailand.
just a quick post to ask if anyone here has got any advice on any good offshore bank accounts that are reliable and offer good ROI?
have been looking at some out of the C.I.'s but rates arent that great at all and some I even have to be a UK resident still, which seems silly to me as I thought the main reason for offshore account was for expats who are not resident in their home country?
but anyway... any advice gladly taken.

many thanks for that, any experiences or comments about the above?
the hill camp sounds good to me as its secluded and you are there fulltime to do the training, although at the moment i think that my general fitness would hold me back so would want to get into reasonbal shape before going to that one.
-
I am looking for good motivational fitness, and solid muay thai training.
am totally new to muay thai, done some martial arts back in the day, but nothing notable, and need to get back into shape. I will be looking at doing about a solid months training inbetween going away for work for a month and then back again to carry on.
I have done a bit of looking around and have seen a couple of places that look like they are good, from first impressions, lannamuaythai.com and ancientmuaythai.com
any other suggestions or comments on these 2 at all please will be very appreciated?
cheers all

I am also planning to go to Krabi in the near future do you have any recommendations for hotels?
yes as said above it really depends on what you want. krabi as a province is rather large and can cater for all sorts of needs, then you have krabi town, and then you got ao nang/railay which people refer to as krabi as well.
so its down to what you are after?

are you looking in krabi or ao nang?
-
hey, i need ur help, im planning to come to thailand with my gf. and we wanna ask u about some info.
do u know how we can take a boat to krabi fr. bankok? is it long way?
how much the price of rent in krabi? i mean normal house for one month
how much cost living there? i mean food and so on
as helpful as that last post was, he was right... boats a no go..
yes the boat ride might take a day or 20, bearing in mind its about 650 KM as a duck flies, best bet is to get a flight from bkk airport, airasia.com fly12go.com thaiairways.com best bet is 1-2-go as they allow up to 20kg check in luggage, 1700 THB, the airasia only 15 kg, and thai are just stupid prices 2600 THB... forget them.
other than a plane get the 24 special seater bus from bkk to krabi, more comfortable, takes about 10-12 hours, no more than 1000 baht so to be honest better taking the plane.
rent and other prices in krabi not sure, but if you are staying in ao nang, i.e. the main beach area in krabi you are looking at prices, 3000-7000 per month rent, depending on if you want just a room with a fan to a house with a/c stand alone type of thing..
bike rental - motorbike 150 THB per day
put on top of that electric (staying per month with fan 200 to 800 with a/c), water tops 100, food (local food 20-30 baht per meal western 120-450 per meal) and beer costs (varied!!..).. all dependent on how you float your boat...
anything else Prime Minister me or post globally

you need to take a decongestant pill before you fly. simple as that.
unfortunately not, i tried that, in fact i took over the daily allowable dose before during and after the flight but still had sinus pain.
-
thanks for the reply.
i went to see the doctor and he couldnt see anything wrong, maybe a slight reddening of the nasal passage, but that was about it, to be safe i wanted any medication that might help, so got antibiotics and then have been taking them along with ibruprofen to reduce swelling as well pseudoephedrine to help clear.
still not sure if they will be ok, but shall have to wait and see for my next flight next weekend, shall do a test in a swimming pool later in the week to see what happens, so i know what i am in for.
this site provided me with some good information.
See a doctor. You may have a mild chronic sinus infection/imflammation that keeps the sinus drains from allowing the pressure to equalize. -
i shall try that indeed, i must admit i was a little dehydrated before the flight, so maybe that didnt help the problem.
I have actually found a good site relating to this problem if anyone else is interested, its http://www.ent-consult.com/
many thanks to everyone who has replied to my comments, all thoughts have been noted and I have list of what to try and buy for my next flight.
if it still doesnt work i shal be back to pick your brains again
That sort of pain can come due to sinuses drying up. If it happens after the flight, try some hot water in a sink with a towel over your head to soften/drain the block. You might try the same sort of thing in advance of flying to pre-empt the problem.
In flight, sniff hot steaming coffee?
Just a quick post to ask if anyone can recommend a good sinus, (ear, nose and throat) specialist in CM?
And any advice for painful sinuses whilst flying, have been flying for many years now, but recently have experienced problems upon descent, thought it was a head cold but has sustained itself over 3 weeks.
I have heard that CLEAR EASE could be a possible solution. Anyone know if this is readily available in CM?
I am sorry that I cannot recommend an ENT specialist here in CM, but may I ask you if you had a cold already when you flew?
If so, I would consult a doctor immediately, especially if you are feeling at all giddy or have a feeling of fullness in your ear/head.
A few tips which have helped me with similar sinus pain problems:
sip water during the flight, esp during descent.
chew gum (not nice I know, but it does help) or suck sweets before take-off and descent.
use otarine ear drops one hour before take-off and half an hour before descent.
You could use a prescribed nasal spray or saline solution squirted up your nostrils before a flight to help clear your sinuses. You could also use the saline now to try to unblock your ears (buy from any chemist, big bottles are around 75 baht). Chiang Mai is a markedly polluted city, and sinus sufferers need regular breaks (eg to the mountains or the beach).
Best wishes and hope another poster can help with a referral to a good ENT doc.

I did indeed have a slight head cold the previous week. thankfully the pains went away about 4 hours after landing, no dizziness felt at all.
its a strange one as my ears were clearing fine, it was just the intense pain behind the eyebrow, in my sinus that was hurting.
I shall try the nasal spray for sure as it will reach the affected area a lot quicker.
many thanks for your post reply!

I haven't seen Clear Ease but you could try one of those little vicks inhalers. If that fails ask your pharmacist if pernazene inhaler would help.
thanks for the info, I actually carry one of them around with me permanently, not just for sinuses, i swear they are addictive to inhale, unfortunately although my nose was clear as a bell it couldnt break through to my sinuses.
as for the inhaler, I shall ask the pharmacist, think i might overbaggage with amount of perscription drugs i shall be taking back with me!

I have recently been suffering from severe sinus pain whilst flying, but only on descent, my job requires me to fly more and more often now and have heard about CLEAR EASE could be a possible solution.
This is just a quick note to ask if anyone knows if CLEAR EASE tm is readily availble in Thailand? I am resident in Chiang Mai, but will pay for delivery of medication if someone knows of a supplier?
Or if anyone else has any other advice regarding sinus squeeze whilst flying?
Painfully yours
