  1. This thread is a piss take? Must be. Canis lupus familiaris has been around for about 15,000 descended from Canis lupus much older.

During that time they have evolved feet to cope with all terrains.

yea yea yea, and we used to live in caves hunting badgers with pointy sticks, (us with the sticks not the badgers :P )

cope with all terrains? you tell him that. i got the new breed of dog Canus lupus spolio familiaris

  2. aha, i see these are the Nike air pump max T-bone versions.. yes very nice, although not sure that they will withstand the rigors of use that my woofer will put them through, shall probably just mail order the other ones :) poor mate has swollen pads today and not keen on putting the weight on them, ice pack time.

  3. instacure number 1

got mine delivered for a little extra with some other bits n pieces, worth it rather than gambling with localled sourced stuff. have made great hams, bacons etc etc get a lot more meat for your baht compared to buying from local curers/shops/suppliers, and slightly more satisfying as well!

made nearly 3 kilos of bacon for about 300 THB

    a great book on curing

  4. +1 asked to leave as well

+1 my friend who joined at same time

reason given to my friend was breathing too hard and too big for the running machine

reason given for me was "this gym is not for you" good enough as reason as any i guess?!

    TIT...

... no really he was a TIT!

  5. The intent of the online working is important in this story and it goes for all online work. it is a non-Thai, staying in Thailand, doing business outside of Thailand. Other than that the person is staying in Thailand, there is no connection to Thailand and no Thais are deprived of employment. So yes, keeping in contact with your business and clients in for instance Norway online is allowed.

But this is just the opinion of the labour office in Chiang Mai.

OK so working online with non Thai customers who are not in Thailand selling a non Thai product allowed in Chiang Mai, opinion of the labour office in Chiang Mai... But that last sentence is the dodgy grey area, as so many people have experienced, not necessarily with working but other situations, it is who you happen to encounter at that exact moment in time when it comes into question and the poo hits the proverbial :hit-the-fan: and what side of the bed he/she might or might not have got out of!

  6. He also said someone can do consulting work over the internet for overseas clients without a WP. The example in the question put to him was about a California lawyer who was advising California clients over the internet -- that clearly isn't taking work from a Thai. He said a WP wasn't needed in this case -- causing a bit of a stir in the room.

Thanks for the information relay NancyL. Unfortunately I was not around to attend the meeting, but was there any more info regards to this item?

Consulting work that is giving specialist advice on business matters resulting in an income being generated? and what are the actual definitions of consultancy?

But from the other topic in visa work permit section work was classified as ""to engage in work by exerting energy or using knowledge whether or not in consideration of wages or other benefits" surely the above example of a lawyer advising his clients IS INDEED engaging in work by exerting his energy and using his knowledge blah blah blah? Or is the issue here that it is exempt due to the fact that it is providing a service to NON THAI clients overseas? Would this be the same for every work over the internet for overseas clients?

    my room is currently stirring...

  7. Would really appreciate, after your having a look, a report on what facilities and equipment they have in terms of cam-driven machines, free-weights, treadmills, sauna, showers, etc. How clean the place was, whether they have lockers, are things like treadmills "pro quality" etc.

cam-driven machines? if you mean pulley, then yes a fair range of them,

good range of free weights, smith machines along with a good crossover, although not huge weights

treadmills - about 6 under 80 kilo user weighted units, about 3 over 80 under 100 kilo user weighted one, old machines that require the machine to warm up longer than the user

    lockers, bring your own lock

    no showers

    no sauna

    no classes

    no noise allowed

    no anything else..

certainly would not use the word pro in relation to the place

get better prices at other gyms with much more equipment and classes, fitness thailand seems the best all round for free weights, machine weights, good sturdy runners, classes, showers, professionalism blah blah blah

NB time limits imposed on all cardio equipment, limited to 20 minutes ABSOLUTE MAX including machine and user warm up, no arguing, arguing not allowed, if you dont like it, this is not the gym for you...

This 20 minutes is per user per day per piece of cardio equipment... so you can not even do a double workout in a day.

  8. if you dont like using a running machine longer than 20 minutes (include in that 20 a 5-10 minute mandatory warm up for the machine itself otherwise it will squeal and moan at you, machine and owner alike)

if you dont like to exhale while using machinery louder than a gnats breath

if you dont like to shower after a workout

if you dont like to actually do a proper workout

this IS the gym for you...

  9. Any light to be shed on this tragedy?

Lincolnshire couple found dead on Thailand holiday

A couple from Lincolnshire have died while on holiday in Thailand, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has confirmed.

George and Eileen Everitt, from Boston, were in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, when they died on 19 February.

It is not yet known how they died but an investigation is under way.

A spokesperson from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said: "We are in touch with the family and are helping them through this very difficult time".

  10. good food, good service, great ambience and scenery, can go for a walk around the grounds first to build up the hunger. also got rooms there and have stayed for an overnighter to get that extra bit of chill without having to traipse all the way to Pai or the like. although in winter the waterfall is not as impressive as in the wet season, although impressive nonetheless.

overall well worth the trip, we always stop there when up that way.

can get busy so cant always get the best seats, view of the waterfall, so if you are going at key/popular times then might be best to reserve.

  11. Pretty self explanatory really :)

I want to make a roast gammon joint, the type where its part boiled followed by a good roasting with honey and mustard. Tried the obvious Paengping, errr sorry, meant Rimping, but to no avail.

Am thinking that can not just get a big lump of fresh pork ham and do the same, as a gammon joint is cured to some extent I believe?

Any other people had any success?

  12. Thailand is not a signatory country of The Hague convention. no Thai notaries exist which have the power to affix an apostille. nearest places to notarise a document with an apostille are Hong Kong and Brunei.

Thanks for the reply, when I contacted the people asking for it, they told me similar, I would never get one in Thailand. Not surprising as I have translated a document before and a notary here just signed and stamped it without reading the document.. Great here isn't it... TiT.. :)

So instead a certified copy from the CNX British Consulate will have to do..

    Thanks for all replies
