  1. Throwing water for Songkran is not the Thai tradition for Songkran. It could be taken to court. It seems even Thai people have forgotten what tradition is for Songkran. Throwing the water at someone who is not participating in the event is rude. Especially if walking by with something in your hand like food or drink. Noone respects this and thinks everyone out wants to play this way. HOwever, I do not think the police will look at it this way either. The foreigner is wrong and will be treated as such. A bad guy for causing a disturbance. Throw his ass out of the country haha... Just joking of course. But is this not what the country seems to be trying to do? The foreigner was wrong though for overreacting and speaking the way he did. IF the man really did buy him a new cup of coffee then all should have been forgiven.
  2. I think this is the start of things to happen nationwide. Phuket always seems to shake the tree and the rest of the country follows. All these foreigners using Thai nominees to obtain properties they could not normally obtain. Setting up a business name solely for this purpose may find they have no home in Thailand soon. Then there are all those sex workers from Africa and Russia and other countries taking away a good income from the Thai sex workers and doing it without work permits. Overstaying will always be a problem when they continue letting foreigners enter the country without a visa.
  3. NAH! In all the news reports of foreigners caught having sex and brought in for charges, the most they have done was pay a fine not more than 5000 baht if i recall. But your point is taken about the legal systems handle on what is serious and what is not. Everyone knows that life is cheap in Thailand. It is better to kill someone instead of leaving them alive to press charges and collet large sums of money. The laws reflect this also.
  4. It sounds like.... the incident occured 2 days before any report was made. Also it seems that the only report was most likely made by the police woman. Since there was no arrest and the Thai woman did not make a report or make a charge. Most likely this OP is a police hype. Something happened and the cop told her boss about it a few days later and they decided to tell the press about it to make the police woman look good. Also, it appears to be glorified to make it seem like there are more bad foreigners the cops need to deal with. I could be wrong in my assumption though but this is what this OP appears to be to me.
  5. easy to see where your allegiance lies in your post... I do not see your comments about doing the same to Biden for his nefarious activities.. He also faces impeachment hearings. You say it is not ridiculous but am sure you say the opposite about anything Biden did. That is the problem with politics. People accept or reject stupid things based on their feelings about the politician whereas they do not see their own prejudice against the opposing candidate.
  6. do you really think anyone Thai will be looking for the difference? They will read foreigner in the news and automatically think badly again of all foreigners in the country. The fact that the news service stating maybe it was foreigners instead of saying Asian alone says they are trying to provoke a response to add to the level of anger already present in so many Thai against foreigners.
  7. So you are trying to compare isolated instances with different construction accidents around the world... How to use these for comparison? When this construction has been plagued with not one, but many instances of accidents do to poor construction practices.
  8. Plagued with problems since the beginning of construction. This is what happens when you hire cheap labor and inexperienced workers and use substard equipment to maximize profit. When will the government step in to stop this nonsense?
  9. obviously none of your comments matter. What is known is that this man should never have gone into the canal to get his water gun. Obviously, he was unable to exit the water and others were smart enough not to go into the water also to try and rescue him and trap themselves also. Sad it happened. Dead simply for the loss of a 3 dollar water pistol.
  10. you are obviously not naive.. but instead you are very naive. Even if your business is 100% legit. The police can come and harass or make up something that would put you out of business. I am sure you want the police in your business every week checking customers and doing drug tests on everyone there. Either that or they will not be there when something happens and instead support the other guy. Either way your business will end up being closed.
  11. God... why doesn't the news services leave this poor man alone. Clearly he is deathly ill and injured and unable to stop them himself.
  12. I suppose you never got the runs either from eating Thai food... I applause you as probably the only man in Thailand who did not have to make a bee-line to the toilet during your time in Thailand
  13. 500 i think.. maybe 1000.. i don't really remember. It was several years ago before covid
  14. Thanks... i will surely have my hands full in my time there in Pattaya.. The business I am considering would need 4 thai employees anyway... Which is another thing i will need to address if I find it feasible to make the type of business i am considering. At any rate. My thai wife can be owner of majority if it is too difficult to make me the full owner.
  15. Which goes to say a lot given they are saying Thailand is worse.
  16. yeah i know the law.. i was already under the light.. 3 more vehicles behind me were allowed to continue also because they were Thai. I was under the light waiting to turn when it changed to yellow. As were the vehicles behind me.
  17. It is worth noting that there are no public restrooms available to the public or to tourists. Asking shops to use their toilets is a waste of time because they will refuse. Most bars will demand you buy drink if coming in to use their toilet. This area is a good example of not providing for the needs of the tourists that walk around spending money in the shops. What this man did was abhorrent, but in considering he probably had nowhere else to go except in his pants. He chose this option. Also, the Thai security guard aided and most likely suggested the man use that water to wash himself. Even aiding by spraying a hose on the guy since he had already got some crap in his pants. Thailand wants all these tourists, but they leave little choices in providing things like trash cans and toilets which in turn causes behavior that can make them look bad. I would bet this man never once did this type of action before.
  18. Wow, This is exactly what everyone wants to experience for their holiday. Sitting back enjoying music then having the police harassing you to pee in a cup and wait to be checked. Some really good holiday memories to take home with them. They actually use the excuse to deter crime haha... It seems more like a witch hunt to collect money without any justification to be there. I hope the Chinese post videos of this in their country to show their treatment on a day just out having a drink and listening to music in a club.
  19. No, I got stopped at a checkpoint for driving under a yellow light. They issued me a ticket, kept my license and told me to drive to the police station to pay. So I went and fought the charge with a supervisor without success. Their really was no law saying you can not drive under a yellow light although the cop tried to show me some Thai paper saying it was a violation. It is a money scam. If they can not get you for no license or helmet they will find anything to fine you with. Even the head cop told me this. I had it all on video also. The fact though was they held my license and i had to pay at the cop shop. I then drove back and showed my receipt and got my license back. So in argument to your post, you can go pay immediately. Then show receipt and get your license back. Note the video, Thai woman on back of bike with no helmet was allowed to pass through checkpoint yet all foreigners driving bikes were stopped. This is your tourist friendly city. With this happening daily and then in related news cops walking into bars stopping all music and fin to perform checks on everyone. makes your holiday an extra special experience to remember so you never want to return
  20. Seems you are making any excuse to get free handouts.. Perhaps standing on a street corner would get you what you need. My op said nothing about who to make bribes to.
  21. They did not post it to another address in Thailand. Weed is illegal in the philippines
  22. pretty stupid filipinos to use their home mailing address to send drugs haha..
  23. Thai immigration did not keep renewing this guys passport. They went by their own records from years past of simply renewing the same visa he had in their system. This has nothing to do with Thai immigration.
  24. Thailand does not take sides. The accept all. That is why there has been no wars taken to Thailands shores.
