  1. is that a thai engineer your talking about earning 25k a month,

because if your talking about falang, someone has been feeding you porkies,,,

ive just jacked a job between rayong and pattaya at VPE and it was 350 a day british pounds

    jake

That salary is in no way representative of an average engineer's salary in Thailand whether foreign or Thai. Apparently it was just an opportunity for you to brag on this forum.

in all my years being a member on here ive never braged about anything,

ill tell you why i left for the reasons many on here are talking about, quality of life, that job was working 6 days a week, i traveld back to sakoew saturday afternoon and back monday morning,

no life when ive got a young family, so im going to work abroad on an even rotation 35/35 so that will give me lots of time at home,

    jake

Never known Jake brag about anything!

The guy is honest almost to fault and will often tell it how it is and as he see's it, good or bad, but brag ?

    No way !

One of the few members here I enjoy reading because of his open honesty.

  2. The plane got you there, that for me is the main thing, I rely on my country and it's planes service staff......thumbsup.gif

I am flying to the UK early next month, and the OP has given me a bit cause for concern, though entertainment does not matter, I will have my own, films on my Ipad, music on my smartphone.

I don't see how the OP even mentions how old the cabin crew are as long as they do their job, and of the many flights I have made to and from the UK, I have never had an issue with any cabin crew.

I never had any issues either, if you care to actually READ the OP it states "observations" and excuse me for observing the age of the cabin crew! In 35 years of flying I rarely encountered cabin crew over age 35, so yes I am going to observe and notice if not one or two but ALL the cabin crew around me were around age 50! It does tend to be "noticeable". Anything else you want to "nit pick" about MY experience and opinion ?

I think my point is valid, no one likes looking at "hotties" more than me, but it is wrong to sack people from jobs, any jobs, because they are too "old". If I get a good flight, and am well looked after, I don't care how old the cabin crew are. Cabin crew have still got a lot of their life ahead of them once they reach thirty five, and being a cabin crew member may be all they are qualified for.

I was a professional musician, and I would have hated it if I could not work at that once I reached thirty five.

Do you not know the difference between an "observation" and a "complaint" or "critism" clearly you dont, an

obseration is just that, something you observe, Had I made a complaint or critised the age then yes your pathetic nit pick would have been valid and even possibly age descrimination, but as it wasnt you are argukng over something that doesnt exist, except in your mind.

Who said anything about sacking onyone from jobs ? You really need to calm down and think about what you are focusing on , because it isnt and wasnt what has been said, you are going off on your own tangent.

  4. From a recent post, I decided in the end to fly BA direct to London. I have used Eva many times but thought I would give BA a try.

Service arrived on time in Bkk, 777 jet seemed fine, seats ok, quite comfortable really for cattle class.

The flight was uneventful, just the way I like it, but a few observations.

The cabin crew were the oldest I have ever seen for flight crew. The "matron" was full of her own importance and had a real attitude about her.

The Aircaraft itself seemed really noisy, lots of rattles and vibrations and just felt " loud".

The entertainmdnt was just awful, limited and very poor selection. I tried 4 sets of headphones before finding one that actually gave a good audio level due to the aircraft noise.

I noticed at one stage that less than 10% of the passengers in my cabin were actually using the entertainment, it was that bad. Without a decent entertainment choice the trip felt much much longer.

The food although edible (just), again seemed poor and probably the cheapest that they could find and poorly presented.

The overall impression was one of "cheap & nasty" and very tired, get the absolute most use out of the absolute cheapest available option.

I do unfortunately have the return booked, BA would not be a consideration in future.

They could learn alot from EVA, which is where my next direct flight will be booked.

  5. This post has absolutely NOTHING to do with "booking sites" such as Agoda, that was not the issue, if you look at the OP it states the Hotel website NOT a booking site.

It was a genuine enquiry made just two days ago, It was for a real booking, and I ALWAYS check with the Hotel direct before making a booking as too often I have had bookings refused on arrival by Hotels that were made via some Hotel booking sites, I dont trust those as being always a "valid" offer, but thats MY experience and yours may differ.

If you want to brag and enrich others with your in depth knowledge and x number of years in the business, do it somewhere else as its neither relevant nor on topic in this instance.

  6. re: post 56, I dont want to quote such a rambling post so have just used the number.

The OP may have been responded too in a totally different way had it been posted by someone else. You moan and complain and ridicule the replies you have received. Have you considered for one minute that it isnt just the content of the post but who is saying it.

Lets be honest, given the history and vein your posts are generally in, does it really surprise you the response you received.

If you tell enough nonsense you will become known as someone who spouts nonsense and will get the reaction of disbelief.

You started down that road and are now just reaping exactly what you sewed. You are your own worst enemy.

  7. Impossible to answer unless everyone has the same point of reference. what one person classes as dirty another may see as just cluttered.

Its all about individual opinion and what the point of comparison is.

You cant just say X is the dirtiest, dirtiest in comparison to what ?

    Pointless.

  8. Just to clarify, I did make a mistake, used to using eco/bus/1st etc but Eva is Eco/Eco+ and bus.

So, just been through the website again and I am getting 41k economy, 56k Eco+ and 110k business.

Seems to be a small difference moving to Eco+ from eco. That's a 3 month ticket

Other point is you go over the 90 day stay and the price jumps higher significantly.

  9. Just been looking at ticket for july, they have economy at 50k and business at 67k is it worth the small extra to get business class ? (Prices are return ticket)

67k seems good deal for business?

  10. What flag should I fly, even if I was so inclined?

I grew up abroad (Kenya) but kept my German passport as it was continued. I have lived 20 years in Asia and SE Asia so these countries are a lot dearer to me than either Kenya or Germany. But I am certainly not going to fly a Vietnamese or Cambodian flag.

    I dunno. Gay pride flag ? :P

    😂😂😂

Dont know about Australian forum but we need a Neverdie forum ! 👍
  11. Why sad

Many people would give anything to get out of places like UK, AND LIVE IN THAILAND. He has had 12 happy years here, had the balls to do the move, and if any regrets he can go back home.

No he cant, thats the point, he's "all in" here, nothing back in the homeland to go back to, and all the assets ars here now, so wouldnt have anything either.

  12. I was chatting to a guy recently, he was saying how he is stuck here now.

He came 12 tears ago, built a home etc, his family have since passed on so no real connection with the homeland anymore. He's put all his money into the property car etc and has a comfortable life but feels stuck and no choice but to ride out his days in Thailand.

He said he gets days when Thailand makes him crazy, with different frustrations and whilst rolling with most of it now, he still gets times when he could just walk away but cant, as he's stuck because he is "all in" to Thailand.

I thought that was a little sad in some respects and got me to thinking as to how many others felt that way ?

How many others have gone "all in" and maybe have regrets in doing so after the passage of time.
