You don't need hot water for a dishwasher! you just plug in a cold water pipe and the machine heats the water itself (same as a clothes washer). The fact that kitchens don't have hot water even pushes me more towards getting one (as washing greasy dishes is a PIA with cold water).

Agree. I specifically specified hot water to Kitchen sink in my new house.

The worst culprit for stiffing you for fees is DHL, avoid at all costs! Try and ask the seller to post recoded US Post.

I also have had success with UPS, but virtually every package from DHL gets hit.

I imported some medical appliances from SA using Fedex. Never again! Apart from costing 3 times the item cost to import, the customs procedure is a nightmare. I even had to take my original passport to the customs office at Suvarnabhumi on top of numerous forms and finally a medical certificate.

You can do that here just buy a newspaper.

Does anyone remember looking for the blue paper salt bag in Smiths crisps.

You are going back quite a bit there, but yes, I remember them well. As for Lays, its a triumph of marketing over quality. If you want really good crisps, buy Kettle (I like the sea salt but here again the Backyard barbeque flavour has disappeared).

I find it quite amazing that someone doing a small bit of travelling can form any opinion on what it's actually like to live in either location without actually doing so themselves.

I'd travelled Thailand many times before moving there and travelling the country is nothing like living there. Travelling you are in your own bubble. Living there is an evolving experience.

Until people learn to keep left except when overtaking it is inevitable.

When someone drives in the right hand lane, then the person passing on the left is following the rule that you can pass on the left when in queuing traffic moving at different speeds.  The person on the right is forming queuing traffic, and if one chooses to move to the empty queue in the left hand lane, then why not?  Or would you preferto stay behind them in the left lane, in their blind spot?

That's not what I am talking about. I'm talking about motorbikes who overtake on the left with just enough room for the handle bars, then cut in front of you for good measure.

Only one of them has to apply for the extension of stay based upon retirement. The other one can apply for an extension based upon the others extension as their spouse.

The account would have to be in the name of the one applying for the extension.

Can i ask a question? If I already have an extension but then get married to a non-Thai, can she also apply for extension as my spouse?

Guess you dont like tesco then. Heads up in case you missed it you are in Thailand, they have there own Language. They cater for the indiginous population. Cant remember ever seeing thai signs in any supermarket back in home country.

That maybe because there aren't many Thai tourists or expats in the "home country". I'm not complaining about the Thai sign, just the tiny almost unreadable English subtitles.

The immigration at Samui was and is a mess, I report there since 8 years and getting a visa is every year a process full of frustration, even after paying accounting and all "fees", that they request. That did not change with the new location and it did not change with the new "management".

I beg to differ. It is much worse in the new location than it was in Nathon.
