That's not so bad, if it's lower than 2000 to drive around Pattaya and Bangkok, it's feasible for me.

True, I'm starting to think to buy a Laos car instead, as it gives me 90 days instead of just 30 days. However, I apparently cannot buy a Laos car as a Thai citizen unless I own a business in Laos.

I am not sure is the 646baht is for the how many km.. As i remember, my friend ride his big bike from Malaysia and travel around Thailand, it cost him around 800 -1000 Malaysia ringgit for the coverage for whole country..

Laos car will be a little trouble, if you are not laos person. The police in Thailand is a little trouble some for Laos car as i know.. But you can try your luck...

Thanks for the info, DK. I live in Pattaya.

How much does the insurance cost if it's just to Hatyai?

Then I don't really advice you to buy a car in Malaysia to drive in Thailand.

I am sorry, can't really remember. If i am correct, it not expensive if just to Hatyai.

  3. I am a Malaysian and before i live here, i used to take my Malaysia car to Thailand. If i remember correctly and the law have not change, you can drive a Malaysia registration car in Thailand for every 29-30days. Other then border town like Hatyai, Dannok, Betong, you will need to have a Thailand temporary insurance for your car that can be done at any Malaysia-Thai border. How much it charges is base on how far you want to travel into Thailand from Malaysia border. In law of Malaysia -Thai border is in between 50km from the border of Malaysia you do not need an insurance after that you will need to pay for the insurance. Example if you drive from Changlun(Malaysia) border to Dannok, the 1st town after the thai immigration, you do not need insurance, but if you want to drive to Hatyai(65km) from Malaysia border, then you need Temporary Thai car insurance. Except that if you are living somewhere near the border, then it will be ok, but if you live somewhere far from the border, i won't advice you to do it. And you will need a Malaysia driving license to drive a Malaysia registration car in Thailand (if i remember correctly). Except you are Thai and have a Thai driving license.

As i know before, base on thai child, documents base on thai depended do not need to be sign by my partner. I will be going on Monday

I can invest a maximum of half a million baht which is equal to one million Indian rupees. I would like to start the business in Pattaya or Phuket, two places I know very well, having spent a lot of time there during the last four years as a tourist. I am open to hiring Thais not only to meet the quota requirement which I believe is in the ratio of 4:1 but also for existential reasons - I cannot speak or write the Thai language for one thing.  I would not mind taking on expats if I can afford their services. I dont know how I can apply for work permits for the Thais and the expats before I get the necessary paperwork for myself.

I am thinking on the lines of setting up a restaurant.

You need to used/ consult with a lawyer. This will be the best way. I have just open a company last year and on the way of doing a WP using my company. If you need a good lawyer i can recommend him to you. My lawyer have done a great job with the my registration of my company. The minimum pay up capital for a WP is 2 million baht, or if you are married in Thailand then it will require 1 million baht. Remember WP requirements for non thai changes most of the time, and depends on the location you apply or set up the company. Remember using nominated thai partner no longer allow in Thailand.

  6. Thanks Ubonjoe.

Your advise is always appreciated. I try to ask for legitimize my Parenthood at the amphur but they told me that i need to wait for my son until he is 7 years old. Currently my son is just 4 years old and in order to go to court the lawyer will charge me a big some and take too long for the process. Yes i do get the extension of 60days but i do it on one visa and skip the next so the immigration will not ask too much question due to at my immigration center they change people every 6 months.

  7. I have a question that need your advise.

I have been applying back to back single entry non o base on my child for around 3 years of stay in thailand. So far there is no denying entry from my side. I have apply the last 2 entry at vientiane and soon will go again to vientiane for a single non o. With all the crack down on visa will i have any problem get back to thailand again?

I am not working here and i have income from my investment in my country with a monthly of 40k-100k baht per month and my sister will bank in for me when i need the money. I can prepare my bank statements and original birth certificate and my son house book. Do I need the 20k cash when i at the border? Or do they have any new rules regarding back to back non o. Please advise.

  8. Thanks Ubonjoe,

So I have a bank account that have multiple deposit in and out that I used when I live in Thailand. I can used that Thai bank statement to apply for the multiple entry visa right? Because the bank statement have regular deposit every month. So I do not need a 400K cash amount in the bank right because monthly deposits to my Thai bank is around 50K - 150K every month.
So I need 12months bank statement to prove it right?

  9. Hi I am a Malaysia currently living in Thailand. I would like to ask for some advise regarding a few things:-

    1. Can I apply 're-entry anywhere in Thai immigration or only the state I stay.

    2. I have been staying in Thai for around 2+ years with using single entry non O.

    3. I will going back to Penang soon and I would like to apply multiple entry non O base on have a child in Thai, what would be the requirements. I don't have 400k in my bank account but do have 150-200K.

    4. What do you mean by prove of income? My bank statement per year is around 1-2millions baht used and have monthly investment payment. Can I used my bank statement as a prove of income?

And just to put things clear I do not work in Thailand. All my income come from Malaysia and overseas thru my ROI in company's and my online investment buy trading forex and share. So please don't say bad things that I want to work here. By the way I am just 30 and cannot get a retirement visa.

  10. Ok thanks for the heads up,if I do head over there for another exemption maybe I will take the family with me to show that I have a reason to re enter the country as well as having proof of an onward ticket to the UK for about 10 days after entering.

Then that should be OK if I am not wrong.
  11. Ok thanks,I guessed that may be the case.

I shall probably go in the New Year although things can change due to possible work commitments and it may not be necessary yet but it very possible that I shall have to do it.

    Thanks.

I currently in live in Loei and last year I was rejected for the ThaLi border back to back visa. After I clarified with the immigration and due to that time my gf was pregnant they let me pass and ask me to report to the Loei immigration in Chiang Khan (I was lucky due to one of the officer know that my gf is pregnant). After that I need to clarified my extension in the immigration with my gf present to put in the system by their boss. If you don't have any reason I don't really recommend you to go to ThaLi. I now even heard that Laos people is also having problem with the back to back. Laos nationality will need to stay in Laos for 48hours before they can get back in Thailand(last time just 15min trip for them). After that incident the Chiang Khan immigration help me to clarified to the border until my child was born and after that they call me to apply non O base on being a parent.
  12. Hi Ubonjoe, do the consulate in Savannakhet limit on back to back single non O base on parent to thai child? I am currently on my third non O with Savannakhet and my 60 days extension will end on November 8. Can I go back to Savannakhet for my fourth or is it better to go to Vientiane?

    I see you've been getting a single entry non o 90 days and a 60 day extension.

Why not get the multi entry non o instead, you only have to border hop every 90 days then instead.

I know but I cannot get multiple non O is because I am not legally married but living together and my child is only 1 year 2 months old..so multiple is out of the question..

I read Multiple Non O is available at Savannakhet if your gf and child is present with you at the consulate. No?

Suppose to be but not sure cause I did ask them before but they say no and ask me to get in Thailand and currently my gf and child not so able to travel due to my place to Mukdahan is quite far and my daughter will have school. But maybe I will try for this round if everything goes right. But just need to ask if single non O still good for me in Savannakhet.

  15. Fortunately sandalwood and Ud wood trees are now being cultivated. Both woods ... and especially the distilled oils made from the wood ... bring a very high price on the perfume and medicinal herb markets.

I'm on the verge of investing in a plantation here in Thailand.

Yes you are right. Cultivated wood is currently export world wide due to CITES is currently controlling nature wood. This is a big market now and in the future..
  16. Hi OP..I just came back from Savannakhet today and your situation is the same as my and I am still in Mukdahan..you will only get single entry Non-O and the rest is of document is like what ubonjoe say. I have try to go to the amphur and is just waste of time. The only way is go to court. Please remember to bring the original birth certificate and you need your wife to signature her ID card and house book..

  17. Hi,

I plan to go to Savannakhet to get a Non O visa. I will probably fly up on a Sunday night and cross into Lao to submit my application on Monday morning. Does anyone one know what time I will be able to collect my visa the next day (Tues)?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Also, I am thinking of going on March the 15th and like I said I am planning to fly. But if anyone else is going from Bangkok and is interested in sharing transport please let me me know as I would be interested in that as an option. I am thinking of taking the wife just in case I make a mistake with the documents and also because it would be an experience for her (not much of an interesting one I know) but she wants to see what Lao is like so she will probably tag along.

    Cheers

I am going tomorrow morning (15/3) from my place and I will reach Mukdahan by around 4-5pm..then I will cross the border to Savannakhet and search for hotel..will summit my application on Monday. If you/anyone interested, we can tag along cause I will be going there alone. Give me a call if you want. My number 0981633228 (Daniel).
