  1. There is non limit on back to back non-o visas. I have seen no reports of anybody being denied one.

The tourist visa problem was an immigration officers error. There is no restriction like he said.

Thanks ubonjoe. Your help is always appreciated. Then I need to tell my friend that he just got kick out because the officer don't know what he/she is doing.

Just want to confirm with you that if I have re-entry permit on my current extension and I have also a new Visa. When coming back will the immigration used the re-entry or the new visa?

Reading your post again it is possible the officer was correct because his visa had expired. What is the enter before date on his visa. If his visa was still valid when he tried to enter the country he should go to an immigration office and have the error corrected.

I have no idea on the expired date on his visa..

And Joe please advise me on this:-

Just want to confirm with you that if I have re-entry permit on my current extension and I have also a new Visa. When coming back will the immigration used the re-entry or the new visa?

  5. Hi,

I plan to go to Savannakhet to get a Non O visa. I will probably fly up on a Sunday night and cross into Lao to submit my application on Monday morning. Does anyone one know what time I will be able to collect my visa the next day (Tues)?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Also, I am thinking of going on March the 15th and like I said I am planning to fly. But if anyone else is going from Bangkok and is interested in sharing transport please let me me know as I would be interested in that as an option. I am thinking of taking the wife just in case I make a mistake with the documents and also because it would be an experience for her (not much of an interesting one I know) but she wants to see what Lao is like so she will probably tag along.

    Cheers

Have you went to Savannakhet? I am going tomorrow morning (15/3) from my place and I will reach Mukdahan by around 4-5pm..then I will cross the border to Savannakhet and search for hotel..will summit my application on Monday. If you/anyone interested, we can tag along cause I will be going there alone. Give me a call if you want. My number 0981633228 (Daniel).
  6. I currently on extension my non O. It will finish on 3 April 2015. I am planing on doing the new single non O on the 16 March and I will do a re-entry permit for the extension. My questions is

    1. Will I be able to get my single non O visa due to I have 19days before my extension finish.

    2. If I have re-entry permit, will they used the permit when I come back on the 17 march or they will used my new visa?

    1. visa can be issued at anytime irrespective of extensions.

    2. you should not get need a re-entry permit, because you will have a new visa.

I want to get the re-entry permit just because I don't want to waste the balance of the days (cause my place to Savannakhet is pain in the as*) and where I leave I just need a 30 minutes drive to reach a border. So can give me any suggestions?

I don't think you can use a re-entry permit when having a new visa.

If you don't want to lose days, get the visa just before expiration of permit to stay.

Thanks.. Then I won't do the permit.. I need to go by next week cause I will have something to do by end of the month till near the songkran festival..that why I ask on the re-entry permit..

  9. Just come back from Laos.

    Made 850km.

Car left on border 250 thb, paid Laos visa 1500 thb, found nice hotel only few minutes from consulate for only 400 thb (TV, air condition, hot water, clean and no mosquito's)

Visa based on marriage, cost 5000 thb with multi entry and no money required.

Very easy and straight forward process. Done in 1 day.

If someone have questions, I will be happy to answer.

    Do the hotel have WiFi?

  10. This is a nice article. I live together with Muslim all my live and I can say I have more Muslim friends then any other religion and I know a lot of Muslim from the south of Thailand. Just keep in mind that not all Muslim are like the crazy IS that declares war on other religions. The leader of IS is just a minority of people that misused the Islam for their own crazy benefit. If we really understand the Muslim bible/Quran, there is no teachings that teach Muslim to kill or behead people or to force anyone to believe in Islam. Even a lot of Muslim is getting angry about what the minority is doing on the name of Islam. What is happening in Nan(by the Buddhist) is just the same of what is happening in the deep south. If the government cannot settle a small situation in Nan, then IMO the government will not be able to settle the problem in the deep south. For me any people/religion that declare war/killing is only for their own benefits and have nothing to do with the real teachings of their religion. BTW I am not a muslim, I am a Buddhist.

there is no teachings that teach Muslim to kill or behead people or to force anyone to believe in Islam

    Yes there is!

    If yes..please show proofs..

You made the statement. Go read the Koran and prove it is not true. The simple crime of apostasy is punished by death.

In the Quran the meaning is that if an originally Muslim/Islam abandon their own religion and joint other religion then the person is punish by death not that the Quran mean to punish other religion by death. In the word of prophet Muhammad all free soul have the right to what they believe and all Muslim must respect the choice. I am from a country that to know the Quran is a must.

    Means nothing

Not all Germans or Japanese are crazy like the ones that declare war on other nations but there was enough that clause 100 million to die

We have to worry about only about the crazy ones

Yes is mean nothing cause we can't change a person mind but does that mean we need to condemn the whole religion due to the work of a minority. The German and Japanese declare war on nation and IS declare war on religion but in the end is for same reason POWER(and because of power any killing is justify to the person) but different ways of saying.

  13. Hi Ubonjoe, last time I went to the immigration for extension under 2.24 for my single non-o base on being a parent of thai, the officer ask me why I don't want to extend the 1year and just 400k and I told them because of my child is only 6 month old that the amphur cannot issue me the legitimizing of parenthood and I need to go to a court for that. Then the officer just told me that you do not need to go to court just do a DNA test and bring the result to amphur and they can provide me the legitimizing parenthood paper. Is that true? just do a DNA test and I do not need to waste the money and time for the court?

  14. I'm heading to Savannakhet soon, by AirAsia to Nakhon Phanom with the transfer service getting in to Mukdahan at 6.30pm. I'd like to cross over into Savannakhet that evening in order to drop off my visa application early the next day. Is there any problem crossing and getting a visa stamp into Lao in the evening? Does the border crossing have a closing time? Thanks

If I am not mistaken, the border crossing is open 06:00 to 22:00 daily.

I just cross the border and got my visa today..the border opens at 7.30am..and the first bus that leave to Savannakhet currently is 7.00am

  16. 100 million "dent" in the economy?

That translates to a loss of 5000 tourists each spending 20,000.

What time frame is he talking about? I think the calibre of the tourists going to the district for a weekend of nooky are not the 20,000-in-a-weekend type of customers, and not in those numbers either.

You have no idea on the economy and price that is in betong..I have been there every weekends for a 2 years time frame and trust me the tourists there spent 20,000 per night and some even more( for myself I spend around 20,000 - 40,000 baht every weekend).. Me and my friends can spent 600,000- 1,000,000 baht for a 4 days trip..

So please get your fact right before you judge something..

What on earth do you spend so much money on?

OK..1 bottle of Heineken is 300-350 baht.. 1 bottle of Chivas is around 3000 baht.. 1 show girl flower is 500 baht( per piece)..1 night of happy ending with a girl is around 3000- 5000 baht..so the rest I let you do the calculations..So now you can know why 1 night you can spend 20,000 baht with the blind of an eye..

That stil doesn't add up to anywhere near 1 million baht!! Unless you are going out in a group of 50+ and drinking a whole bottle of whiskey EACH along with those beers. Still manage to get with a girl after all that booze? I think you and your friends need to sort out your drinking problem.

Ya, around 8-10 guy and a lot of girl. We able to drink around 600-800 bottle of beer and 8-10 bottle of chivas a night. Then there is around 20-50+ girl in a club/pub/disco and most of the girl get at least 2 flowers for dancing on the stage. Then 1 night we change around 5 places and don't forget in Betong they used Malaysia Ringgit more then Thai Baht. Then in betong some places open until 7 in the morning so the bill can end up very that high if you really spend and enjoy. But I myself do agree that 600,000 - 1,000,000 baht is a little over (after spending) but if I say 20,000 bath ( is 2100 ringgit) in Betong for 1 night is just nothing.

You must be a rich guy who spend all that money in just one weekend, Is that why you have a 6000 bath I-mobile ?
Why with people in TVF really crazy about phone? Is it that rich people or any people with money can't use cheap phone? ( even my uncle is the Onwer of a manufacturing factor with 500++ staff, driving a BMW X6, have a nice house that is around 30,000,000 baht is using the same phone as me). For me I rather buy a branded watch or any thing else then to buy a

20,000+ baht phone when a 6000+ baht phone can do what a 20,000 phone can do..So please know that rich people doesn't need to buy expensive phone and poor people doesn't need to buy cheap.. Don't judge a person by what they put in front of your eyes..Even Warren Buffett is driving a 15+ years old car and have a normal house..
