  1. I don't like Yingluck, not because of herself, after all she is a not so bright, presentable lady, an ideal woman in my opinion, but for the damage she has caused to her country as a PM.

I don't think she will ever go to jail and I don't wish so, but this will be a good warning to all future politicians attempting to bribe the nation for their own benefit.

She will never go to jail, just perhaps a holiday in Dubai. But unfortunately those in power of whatever political genre will never learn and always think that they are cleverer than the voter, that applies to all politicians in all countries, at least those that have votes

  2. Now farang is really going to complain.

No other land transport charge extra for baggage.

Not train, not bus, not car rental; why on earth Thai taxi going to charge for baggage is beyond my logic.

Perhaps the happy Thai people's logic is a world different from mine.

I was charged for baggage by a taxi in Marseille once, can't argue with them as they really are mafia :)

Don't tell them that, they'll just put guns to everyone's head,

But their little charging by bag and weight formula will be too complex

  4. My adoptive daughter came to UK in 1990 at six years old with the standard Thai school haircut above the ears. When she started school in UK the headmaster asked me if they had school uniforms in Thailand. He was amazed when I told him Thailand had a national school uniform including the haircut. She grew her hair long and now is 30 with two beautiful kids, never wants to come back to Thailand

  5. Just 'lone wolves', not organized or anything to do with Iislam. Relax and have another beer.

Will we ever take this seriously or learn anything?

What do we learn? A Muslim guy went into a Kosher grocery store in France and shot Jews. What am I supposed to learn?

Here's some of what I've learned. You've a group of people from various nations whose antecedents never went through an Age Of Reason, Enlightenment or Reformation. You've got a religion/ideology that has no hierarchical structure accountable for the actions of its followers or even its so called leaders. Various "leaders" may speak out against the actions of some of the adherents to its ideology but its meaningless as they have no standing to speak for the religion/ideology. It's only lip service.

During the Middle Ages Islam was ahead of Europe in science, mathematics and art, for example our numbering system is Arabic. Then the radicals seem to have taken over and held the people back for their own purposes of control, extremism of Saudi arabia is behind it. A bunch of hypocrites, just see what Saudis buy when they hit the duty free shops in Dubai airport

  6. Since learning to understand conversational Thai I now have the pleasure of listen to my wife and her friends/family all constantly talk about how much they paid for everything and what is the best iPhone or tablet that is currently out, for hours on end, every time they meet up.

It was better before I realised how shallow, immature and petty they all are.

Maybe you just married the wrong lady and because you did not speak Thai before you never found out.

Maybe, but then no matter where I go I hear the exact same conversations all over Thailand, so maybe it's not just my wife's family.

I'd quite like to get a new phone. Perhaps you could give me some advice from what you have learned.

I'm really interested in long battery life when running GPS.

As for the OP; I don't think it was lack of communication ability that stopped the OP's wife asking the second delivery team to swap the mattresses round - it was probably shyness at asking people to do work beyond their remit. If the OP had been able to speak Thai, he could have used the "ignorant-of-thai-manners, demanding-foreigner" card and used his brass neck to ask the second delivery team to move the mattresses. Then, perhaps, he could have rewarded them with a box of Chang to encourage them to go the extra mile for foreigners in the future.

    SC

Good post, I speak a bit & can understand more, so always play dumb ferang while I get them to do what I want, then always a few Leo's get handed out (Heineken stays in fridge) and everyone's happy

  7. Regardless of the source (which is routinely attacked by those on a dodgy wicket) the Algerians know their onions when it comes to fighting radical Islam. Also the thought of 100 Imams in Europe actively recruiting for Islamist terror cells seems extremely far fetched does it not?

Though as Mr Condell explains these terrorists have nothing to do with Islam.

It is nothing to do with Islam, simply money and control. Radical imams are generally funded by Saudi Arabia, to keep the funding they have to carry out terrorist attacks. Yassir Arafat died with $ billion in a Swiss bank account, how did he accumulate that much money ? On the take and screwing his own people I think is the answer

  8. No, you are not being unreasonable by being a little peeved when you return after 5 months and find over a years worth of additional driving on the vehicle. But to be coming to Thailand for 30 years and not understand the Thai way is totally unrealistic. What have you been doing, walking around wearing blinkers. Do you speak and read Thai, you should after this length of time and maybe it would help you understand but it you do not then you will, as you say, know nothing of Thailand, and how the family share things, then what can one say? Do you know what you wife told her sister about the objects, did she give her permission to use them? I'd suggest you ask her but be prepared for the excuse book to come out, after all it is her sister, not yours. Her sister has got you measure, that's for sure, but if you had laid down the law before you left, maybe you would not be complaining now.

A lot of your comments have been answered in the thread

  9. Sounds like your ride was rented out.........sad.png

But this shit is normal. You are right to kick up a fuss so perhaps they will not take the piss in the future.....thumbsup.gif

oh they'll definitely repeat their actions again if they get the chance, I've come to realise thais aren't the cleverest bunch, in one ear out the other.

    nice racist generaliztion there buddy

This incident is down to personal traits, not national generalisations. In my view I am quite happy as I never have to see the SIL again, that is worth a lot, believe me

  10. Do as a Thai guy would deal with it.

well to be able to do that, you'd need to be the boss of the house, the one who has set and wears the pants.

Now is it any wonder why the sh!te happens mostly to farangs in Thailand????

It was not nice what the OP's sister in law did, taking the her full entitlement, but start with the wife who had a hand in it by allowing it all to happen.

She had as much to do with it. Only happened after OP left, how bloody convenient.

The thought went through my gray cells that "family" were doing stuff............

The wife is as pissed off as I am, but she wants to let it go. Her sister kee-konged her(apologies to any Thais here for my bad use of the language) out of any share in the mothers house when she died 10 years ago, so I am positive there's no complicity, just a younger sister who thinks she is clever

apparently she is. she got your wife for half a house and you for 25000 km.

One fifth of a house & 25,000 km, Minus a jet-wash that she thought was hers & minus a service cost, but no more, ever again

    Until next time !
