As I had just come from Middle East, sing ha, then singha then singha then some beef in a pineapple at rajah hotel, then singha etc

A Thai chap I used to work with once said "all crime could be solved in Thailand overnight, just arrest everyone in a brown uniform."

Understanding Thai logic Vol 1 of 10:
10 volumes ? You must have the short version

And who will now take bribes?
More concerning is, who do we now bribe ?

If people thought that they would get caught, be prosecuted and lose their licence for a peirod, (that is, if they did not hurt anyone else) then people would not go out and drink and drive, simple.

Lots of cops have extra jobs. I don't think you should be laughing at the guy for doing so.A cop delivering pizza?
Might have been handing out pizzas to all the tourists giving urine samples, the BIB care

I think some people don't understand that frugal people enjoy being frugal.
A good example, I found a water vending machine today that filled my 1.5 liter bottle for 1 baht (last one was only 1 liter for 1 baht). This makes me so happy and now I chug water like it was free. It really lifts the spirits.
Now, someone who isn't frugal would get a similar enjoyment perhaps from spending a lot of money on a good dinner and the dinner being fantastic?
In the end, usually the frugal people get screwed over anyway because they die with a lot of money and then some idiot children or relatives spend it on nonsense.
We having a very old phrase in germany:
The first generation start a business,
The second improve the business,
and the third blow it away.
The funny things the statictics still confirm it.
Proven in UK too

I once spoke to a chap from London who reckoned he could live on 100 baht a day, excluding accommodation (probably 3,000 - 4,000 baht / month) . He didn't drink, so just wandered around all the time eating local and seemed to be enjoying himself

NM at post # 123,
Sorry, Joey and his Ramones ripped off this lot,
Heres another classic performance before punk was ever heard of,
Check out the comments,
"No MC5 - No punk. Simples."
Have to agree with you RGS, even Ramones admit to New York Dolls being a major influence. Killing several birds here,
Urban Guerilla, great song, but can it be classed as a single as it was banned ?
Jethro Tull, what can I say ?

In my opinion the South should not be brushed off,as a nothing to worry about Terrorism area, but a ready made possible backdoor to Terrorism!
Considering the deaths of too many Teachers, and others,in the South,a incident like what has just happened in Sidney is more than a possibility!
Undoubtedly al Qaeda and Isis have had involvement to some extent in the Souther problem. Look at Pakistan today, they like attacking kids schools and soft targets - cowards

There's not much difference between fanatic scumbags in the rest of the world and the fanatic, teacher-shooting scumbags in the south.
They're all the same scumbags, top-boys make money from gulf state donations and other sources, dumb-shits at the bottom think its all about religion. How else did Yasser arafat die with $ 4 billion in his Swiss bank account ?

It needs more major company's to refuse to bid on projects which appear corrupt. It is a difficult, but wise decision

In 2007 I stayed at Doi Suthep, chiang Mai for 5 nights. The wife didn't want me to go, thought I might like it & stay.the first day was tough, but after 5 days I was mellowed, went to CM airport & couldn't cope with the people, my whole world had slowed down.
Did it due to stress, came home & quit job after 25 years

Now, it's close to the peak travelling season ... a lot of long haul flights to Thailand are under-way or planned.
I never planned to have a DVT.
Indeed, when I got this one ... I was in Premium Economy Class ... extra leg-room.
I'd had 1 beer ... repeat, 1 beer. It was an overnight flight.
But, having a window seat, I never got up ... I didn't need to.
Never the less .. I got a DVT.
Now ... sometimes, it hits you like a Heart Attack ... mine didn't.
About a week later, after the flight, when I was due to play Squash for the Club ... it was a Tuesday.
A member emailed me ... David, can you play twice tonight ... someone has pulled out.
Sure, I replied ... after a holiday in Thailand ... I need the run.
Well, a few hours later, I developed a 'tightness' in my leg. Closest I can describe is it's like a mild toothache in the leg.
sort of all over ... but no specific spot.
This was a week after I returned home.
It sneaks up on you.
Since returning home, I've had the full gamut of Blood Tests.
Nothing to show I have no pre-disposition to blood clots.
Nothing hereditary ... no 'Sticky Blood'.
I was just 'un-lucky'.
So, again ... why now.
I don't want anyone to go through what I did ... and still do.
Warfin is no fun.
Clexain Injections into the Stomach are no fun.
Compression stockings ... even those socks which are available are great.
Alcohol is not good. Red wine is OK in moderate doses.
An Aspirin Tablet helps.
The socks/compression stockings are best.
Just my friendly advice as a patient who has had this, come out the other side ... but not yet, fully recovered.
I still take the Warfin and occasionally, when my leg is having a bad day ... I have to roll the stocking on.
.
It is a good warning, I am in much the same situation as you, beginning of 2013 I went from London to Los Angeles to London to Bangkok in the space of 5 days. Then spent two days in hospital, stomach injections, started on walfarin, now I am on Xarelto. Get alot of pains in my right leg and it is starting to become a mess.
So head those airline warnings and wiggle your toes as you are sipping your gin and tonic.

Tiggle Bitties Tavern, 3rd Rd. Soi 17 (Soi Land-office), South Pattaya
was recommended by my Californian friends. The boss, who is a Thai lady, lived for a couple of years in Los Angeles and learned to cook Mexican food, there.
However, my favorite Mexican restaurant is located in the East side. A little away, at the East lakeshore of Lake Maprachan, about in the middle.
I forgot the name, but I guess that there is only one Mexican restaurant out there.
Maybe it's not 100% original Mexican, even though Mexican food is multifarious. Anyway the best place for my palate around here.
Ive been to Tigglebitties a few times, i think that the Thai lady lived in California for about 25 years with American husband and children, they are all now in Pattaya. Being from UK I know nothing about Mexican food, but it tastes alright to me !!
