According to the new rules, if apprehended even for one day overstay, it is deporting and five year ban! Look it up the next time you go to immigration.
Those "It's about time!" turds still applauding for these new rules might not be so happy if this hits personally. This could happen to anybody, misread or remember incorrectly the last day in the stamp and accidentally then overstays few days. Really f*cked up rule.
The new overstay rules have not been approved yet. So cannot be enforced.
Joe, I'm assuming the pending new overstay rules DON'T envision a 5-year blacklisting/ban of people who incur a one-day overstay.
Lt Col Banphot Kittivira, Deputy Superintendent of the Immigration checkpoint at Sadao, on the Malaysian border, confirmed that his office received a copy of the new form.“Although the form currently states that any foreigners caught overstaying by less than a year will be banned from re-entering the Kingdom for five years, please note that this will only apply to foreigners who overstay by more than 90 days,” he said.“Any foreigners who overstay less than 90 days will be subjected to the normal 500-baht a day fine.”Meanwhile, I note there have been various threads here in recent days weeks of people leaving the country recently and voluntarily after multi-year overstays. And they weren't being tossed into jail on their way out.

I can also confirm thatthe new laws blacklisting people from Thailand for overstay are not in operation. my friend left with 2.5 years overstay and said the immigration couldn't have been more polite and even gave him some advice on which visa to apply for when he returned next month.
As said the fact he was on overstay is just a coincidence to the real reason he was banged up. There is a post where a guy was arrested for over 4 years overstay and he is out on bail waiting to go to court.

If you think women don't do the exact same thing around the world you are delusional

When the truth comes out you will find that the reason he was arrested and imprisoned was not the overstay but something else.

Valid point regarding the air accident investigation system which I had neglected to include my apologies for that omission,
However I am not interested in the tin foil hat theory, but the truth, or that which may be passed on to us as the truth. That would would indeed be an interesting matter. II am a born again cynic.
Why is a differing opinion to yours a " Tin foil hat theory "? Just because people disagree with the so called official THEORY doesn't make them " Conspiracy theorists "
A study proved that those so called conspiracy theorists are saner and more rational than those that follow what they are told

I am surprised he got any time at all. 10 months though is a slap in the face for the family of the murdered woman.

Am I naiv? Why didn´t they jump into the water? Sharks? Cannot swimm, no life jacket? Yes must be me being stupid!
I'm the same ! Why do you need to be plucked from a burning boat for crying out loud ? The mind boggles. As said at least there were no passengers onboard.

As said, people need to get out now before they are caught out. My friend was surprised at just how polite and courteous immigration were. He was expecting to at least be given a hard time over it.

After this length of time in the water without a lifejacket they will just be looking for the bodies. Another shaming moment for this lovely country.

As the title says. I am heading back to the UK as need to get a new passport and am going to apply for a visa for a work permit. Which would be the best to send the application to or to apply in person. I will be in the N/ E or England. Cheers people

Hi, Just had an email from a friend who left a few days ago back to the UK. He was very worried with all the tales of a clampdown. He said that the immigration at swampy couldn't have been more polite or helpful. He spent months worrying about it for nothing.
Has the banning of people from Thailand for overstay been put on a back burner or still going slowly through the process ?
I wonder how many people are holding out thinking it isn't going to go ahead and are going to get caught out ?
I would recommend getting out now before they do implement it without warning.

I was diving in Koh Tao a while back and a large pod of these whales cruised past. Very surprised and delighted

I use the Convenient resort about 5 minutes from the airport. They do day rates and have a drop off service every hour. Clean and comfortable as well.

How do you not see a fishing boat ? The mind boggles ! I very much doubt any of the passengers were wearing a lifejacket. These so called accidents keep happening yet nothing gets done about them.

I can remember a time, not that long ago when the British people were renowned throughout the world for their stiff upper lip and their sterling resolve under adversity. Today they seem to be a nation of spineless, gutless, thin skinned bleeding heart victims who blame everything and anyone apart from themselves for any mistakes and seek compensation for all of life's little falls.
Pathetic in other words !
Don't people know how to just press delete ?

Normally if you have 1000 baht credit it gives you a years validity. Are you sure it is not working ? have you tried sending a text ? did you call the customer service number to activate roaming before you left Thailand ? if not then when you return it will just activate as normal.

Where did high performance clutches come into this post ?
Wasn't the OP looking to change to an auto box hence no clutch ?
Personally I would sell the manual and buy an auto. Less hassle in the end

Nice car. I had one many moons ago in the UK. Did it have the original engine or the Thai classic with a Toyota lump under the bonnet
Good luck but something like this I would imagine is stolen to order. It isn't easily missed so hopefully you will be lucky

Most farangs know that all the beaches are public property so shouldn't Thai people know this as well ?

As far as I can remember it has always been 2000 Baht for no number plate. They are just clamping down on this infraction

I think it boils down to he wants to buy a bike from a Farang and the Farang wants the cash ASAP and is willing to drop the price considerably to get it. I will tell him he can do it. Thanks for the quick reply. Just what TV is for

I found since using Zen Mate my download speeds have gone up. I can also select the UK so can watch the BBC. I use it with Chrome. A free app.

Kao Tao: Cheapest 'fun' diving?
in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao

Most shops offer packages. A ten dive package is 700 Baht a dive. For quality kit and small groups I send people to Masterdivers. They have good feedback on Tripadvisor.
