never ever go on farang oriented buses. just a trick. stick to actual thai buslines and you will travel safer, and much more comfortable.

Hey, gonna pick up a wii from canada cause they are only around 8500 baht or so compared too the 15000 baht prices ive been hearing/seeing around bkk, just curious, should be pretty easy for me to get some guys at mbk or somewhere similar to mod my wii for me ? buying games would add up in a hurry, especially for legit games in bkk. any ideas on this ? as far as i am concerned should be easy and fairly cheap to get it modded.

In "Thong lo" all the bars are on Thoglor, aka Sukhumvit soi 55.
Ok, i am just confused about this, not the suk soi 55 thing, but Thong Lo bts is right at suk soi 36, so is the actual thong lo area is dwon at soi 55 or what ? just confused with how the area is broken up/ located/ named.. lol
The street numbers aren't symmetrical. Soi 55 (Thong Lo) is actually opposite Soi 38, right next to the BTS station.
oh ok, thats cool. i knew one side is even one side is odd but thought it was like 36, 37 , 38 kinda thing. thanks for clearing that up !

op: maybe get a new gf or dont go to foreign countries in search a gf that will make you feel better about your self and kiss your ass, and then make bullshit threads like this on internet forums. Selfish Thais ? i can think of unlimited scenarios of people being selfish. The long amounts of time spent in thailand will result in a lot of instances of Thai people being selfish, as long with selfish euros, selfish japanese, selfish armenians and so on. basicially this thread really exemplifies

Four Hours in My Lai - A fairly well known book about the My Lai massacre perpetrated by the americans during the vietnam war. Theres a few books on this "incident" but this is one of the better ones.
Rape of Nanking - Iris Chang, this book always seems to be in airports and very visible at most book stores, worth reading if your into non-fiction and this type of subject. Some numbers and facts regarding this are disputed, mostly by Japanese revisionists, although the author goes into detail about these issues too. Sadly Iris Chang killed her self while writing and doing research for a book she was writing about the Batan death march.
Bloods: Black Veterans of the Vietnam War: An Oral History
by Wallace Terry - This is a book about black soldiers in the Vietnam war, has different accounts of things by a bunch of different soldiers ( varying ranks, positions etc). This book offers a glance into what the war was like from the eyes of the soldiers there, some parts are a bit graphic, also touches on most of the soldiers having issues in there current lives due to what they did and experienced during the war.
Pol Pot: Anatomy of a Nightmare
by Philip Short - This is a large, newer, book about Pol Pot and the whole auto-genocide thing in Cambodia. Not the easiest read for me, but seemed fairly thourghough and well researched
All these are non fiction and are different degrees of "heaviness". Modern history in Asia is a very interesting topic.. i am looking for some books about the Laos bombing runs the americans were doing during Nam', i saw a ton of these at the big stores around bangkok, but no time or money for them at the moment.

if she actually speaks zero, you can start with easy easy basics.. colors, numbers, pleasantries, days, etc etc etc. introduce her to the written language. I guess this could prove difficult depnding how much thai you speak and how much english your wife/gf can speak. One important thing is getting her to interact with foreigners so she can start to get a more clear accent kinda thing.

What is Sex Education like these days ? I noticed lots of people talk about the low - grade old style sex ed they had in their home countries growing up, but thats like back in the 50's/60's.. about 5 years ago in high school there was the Human Sexuality unit, which STI's, contraceptives, sexual orientation, all the way down to practicing putting a condom on a dildo and frank discussions about sexual freedom, and having an enjoyable sex life being sexually communicative with your partners. I am personally unsure what sex-ed is like in the tropics but its got to be pretty drastic differences from say the public education system in Isaan compared to a private bi-lingual school in Bangkok. That being said, i've meet some pretty sexually expressive girls from Bangkok schools, but these days the majority of people ( not necessarily Thai people, but a lot of them included for sure) are growing up and being exposed to sex and sex themes non stop be it in the media, music videos (soft core porn much??), and probably the biggest difference maker, the internet. The Thai media itself has been reporting in the last few years the rising trends of average young city girls hitting clubs to "score" with young foreigners. Lots of my Thai friends ( male/female) who are in Thai on Thai relationships have been hassling me to procure them or copy them or direct them where to get foreign pornography as they are so sick of Japanese porn. So think about how many people (especially in a place like Thailand) are growing up on/with hyperbolic foreign ( american? ) pornography and thinking thats what sex is. When i think of Thailand compared with say where i come from or even america, with their bible thumping tactics and rampant reactionaries running around spreading bullshit, Thailand always seems way way way more open.. hmm this seems to be getting way off track, but yeah its hard to say what sex education is like in Thailand.

what a laughable thread. why dont you worry about "wasters" in your own country before worrying about them here.

stayed at sathon st. view. Clean enough place, family ran, prices are ok.. ( i think it was 8 thousand for a month with my elec bill..) has internet, has a small pool/roof drinking area.. the people that stayed there seemed to be a mix of working foreigners and a few tourists, about 5 minute walk from Surasak BTS..

yea, most stores will abide by this, although ive seen 7-11 and family mart ignore this a ton of times but i've also been shut down hard by them in the past too. I remember learning about this law when i first came out a few years back when i was picking up a case of sangsom. It was under 10 Litres, so i had to buy a beer or two ( UGH beer is gross) to get over the limit. I guess its pretty offside that you cant get a bottle but you can pick up A CASE during the "sober-hours" but realistically the avg Thai citizen will not be purchasing a case of sangsom in order to get around these regulations. Although any non chain store, or independent store will not pay attention to these laws anyway.
