BANGKOK — After he took off his army general’s uniform and put on a prime ministerial suit in 2014, Thai junta leader Prayuth Chan-ocha pledged to lead the country back to democracy, although he said it would be “Thai-style democracy.”

Four years on, it appears that “Thai-style democracy” means holding an election that returns Prayuth as leader, whether as prime minister or behind the scenes, even as he suggests he has no such plans.

“Why should I stay on in power for another 20 years?” Prayuth said in a speech at a university in Bangkok last week, referring to a 20-year strategic policymaking plan his junta has adopted. “I am 60 now, and that’s already old. I need to rest.”

  7. Skyscanner will find you the best routing but not necessarily the best price.

If after choosing the flight you want and they then direct you to other sites to make a booking rather than direct with the airline(s) concerned, then that's the time to book direct with the airline(s) and not thru Skyscanner.

The above applies to most other sites.

  8. I will be travelling on a short trip to Seoul next month (4 days) and would like suggestions as to what sites/trips are recommended for just a short stay.

Although I've booked the flight, I haven't as yet booked a hotel, but considering the gangnam area.  With frequent subway and buses, the location is no problem.

I have googled sites/trips available but there are so many.

Any suggestions for such a short trip?

  9. This is Thailand, not India.

Surely Premchai and party wouldn't receive a similar sentence, or would they?
