  1. UNESCO is the victim of their own success. Too rapid expansion. In a few years it will be over, like Tripadvisor and all those kind of 'objective' institutions. Too many objects, cities, areas have been chosen to be UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is just commercial sh.# nowadays. Not much cultural. Take Hoi An, Vietnam. Thanks to UNESCO so many resorts now along the shore that recently hundreds of meter of beach has been washed away. Outside Hoi An it is one big dump yard. Using UNESCO to drum up more tourists due to the screw up of the Post Yingluck era: how long did she need to invent this one? The only female in the junta cabinet.....

  2. "I am ready to listen to any problem. They should tell me. But don't ask for democracy or an election now. I can't give it to you," he said.

he can,but he does not want

Well, if these so called polls are genuine and 75% supports him, why not make a political party out of it and get elections.

BUT, I can assure you he won't win those elections with a landslide victory as Thaksin / Yingluck. And that is the reason the Thai people do not get their elections they deserve to get. It is all framed.

Prayuth might be good and trained in the military discipline in a country which has more Generals than Russia & the US together.

Bombarding himself to Chairman of the Board of Investment just after the Coup was another mistake. You need to know about Economics and its disciplines and he does not.

  3. With the new condom revelation,

and the zero likelihood any rapist killer with a mafia angle would use a condom on anyone, much less a pretty blonde,

my new suspicion is, Miller and the girl were getting started,

he got hit from behind with the iron bar and then staggered, tried to fight, but was quickly drowned,

    that takes two guys,

the third subdues the girl with the hoe,

    then they go to town

    To take another Yabaa tablet

  4. Before we start jumping all over the thai police let me ask one question.

How many murders go unsolved in your old country where they have all the latest equipment and training.

There are a couple of things to rmember.

1 KT is a back packers paradise because there is no police and it is a free and easy place.

That is good if you want to let loose but also makes life easy forsomeone that wants to do harm.

    2. because it is an island there is in actuality no way to stop boats fromleaving

There is no Police stationed at KT ?

Let the noodle shop owners perform the investigation then. They can't make it worse than what has happened so far with the RTP.

  5. I'll tell you what "Thainess" was to me when I arrived in the Kingdom in 1980, 3 to 4 years before the first "Amazing Thailand" campaign. On observation, there wasn't much difference in attitude between the rural Thai and the city Thai. They were equally charming. Thais were always smiling, walk down the back streets of Chang Mai for an early morning walk whilst the small Mum and Dad shop keeper was opening up, they always greeted you with a smile and a sawadii krup/ka. Come out onto Silom Rd at 5:00pm and the masses of office girls smiled when they saw a falang. They weren't in a hurry, you weren't walked off the foot path. Taxi drivers were more interested in talking to you than bellyaching about politics. Doors were always held open for you, and you reciprocated. Children bowed deeply to their elders and were seen but not heard. Never would a child remain seated in a train or bus if an old person stood. Nor would they push past.

You felt welcome because they wanted you to be comfortable, rather than how much money you could be parted from. When I arrived I threw myself into the culture, the religion, the history. Was I then trying to find Thainess before it became trendy ? I found it in their kindness, their openness, their respect for others, their respect for themselves and how they are reviewed by others. Loss of face was highly guarded and protected by good manners.

Don't get me wrong I don't want to return to a utopia (if there ever was one), and certainly today I love the Thais as much as I ever did.

To give an example of what Thainess is, when my wife was a young adult her mother gave her the advice "walk like an elephant". This always puzzled me. But what it meant (if you observe an elephant walking), an elephant walks very quietly, it sways gently, it knows exactly where its putting its feet and doesn't hurry. A Thai women walking like that is the most beautiful creature on this planet.

Wake upMot, we are 30 years further. Now it is me holding doors open. Thais slam it right in your face.

  6. Panic football. Everybody with sense of realism knows 2015 will be an extremely difficult year where the regime holds or falls. But tourists liking a train ride with only orange juice available will perhaps come. 2015 will not be a fun year.

  7. If you abscond with children who are not in your parental custody surely that is abduction.

He shall have been awarded 'custody' for sure, but in Thailand parental responsibility is 50/50 and never intended to be devisive. If the children are in Thailand, then legally (and unfortunately, in this case), and in law, she has as much right to that parental responsibility. Thus, it is not abduction. As soon as he handed them into the 'parental care of mother', on a formal, even if ad hoc, basis, he handed parental responsibility for the time they are with her. If that time was not agreed on paper, in a contractual form, then the mother has done nothing wrong. (again, I re-iterate, unfortunately). Such issues are delicate matters where children are involved, and anybody should read this forum with severity at mind. Sort out the law, before you assume it works the way it does in your home country.

A child court order in Thailand is very similar to the western world, and if the mother has the right to see the child a time will be written into the order that she is legally allowed to have that child in her custody

You will also find in the order she is required at all time to keep the father notified of the child's were about's

Additionally: there are court orders / custody arrangements as well in Thailand where the mother has visiting right ONLY under supervision of the male party, the father. So no shopping, driving around with the child. Only with and with permission of the dad. Talking from experience.

  8. So far no sign of the Homecoming Queen.

I wonder if scores of worshippers have flocked to Swampy to await her descent from the heavens.

Does anyone have any news regarding this? Nothing on Thai TV as far as I can tell.

The news in Thailand has better things to do (ordered or not) and that was an avalanche of Down Sydrome related news. To avoid the serious topics.

For every normal thinking person in Thailand this was an exceptional bad week for relevant News Exposure.

  10. She's flying in from Singapore on a private jet, expected AT between 10pm and midnight. Where I don't know. When the jet would belong to Thaksin, I'd hope there will be big chains available to keep it grounded here for some later compensation... Mind you, this all when the Thai airspace doesn't get closed for all private flights at 10pm precisely 'due to an unspecified terrorist treath'... I never thought I would ever be wishing to be considered a terrorist (actually, I'm more the kind of a 'put a whola in the ayatollah' guy..), but today could be an 'auspicious day', just between 10pm and midnight, only for the fun of seeing a puppet go forth, and back, and forth, to Bkk and back to Sing, and... I guess it would paint a smile of relief on the face of millions of rightfull Thais to see the members of that awfull, evil, family being humiliated, very badly (but in a peacefull way), as a sweet revenge for all their unjust suffering in this century...

Do go visit a doctor tomorrow and tell him about your state of brain. Medicines will cure you. In the mean while the doctor, when he is a smart person, will inform you the junta does exactly what Yingluck had planned, to Thailand forward. Copy Cat what we call it. Haldon: strong but efficient. The 'media' got you.

  11. The writer had a chance to make a point here. unfortunately the article is a smattering of negativity from Google searches with no coherent connection.

Yes Thailand you have made a mess of your politics, just admit it and try to fix it. Deflection to America will not make any difference.

Just because America has it's own problems doesn't mean they and the rest of the world can't see yours.

Talking about high horses, Thailand's time has come to be more humble, mature, and take very, very serious action on domestic problems. Neighboring countries are catching up, after their episodes of political misery. If the US pulls out it economic ties NOW from Thailand, we do not need Cambodian workers anymore and the unemployment rate for Thais will be +10%.

  12. When I saw the general giving his speech on TV this morning he accused 'evil rumours' to be the cause of the Khmer illegal worker exodus. In the same time he states the cleaning up of the illegal workers is part of a Plan of his government / junta. So the timing of the evil rumours was very convenient to start realizing the Plan?

  13. many in Thailand just dont realize that Bar girl/boy/tran prostitution in Thailand IS human trafficing

Quite correct . . . but how many are there within prostitution "by choice" . . . ? Is that still trafficking? (I'm talking about "adults" here not "children")

Depends on the definition of trafficking. Do you need to come from another country to be considered trafficked? Or is it enough that the same kind of tactics are used?

For example, a girl from Isaan could be tricked into working in Pattaya, they might tell her she will work in massage. And pay for her room and trip there, they might also pay for clothes etc or some made up charges?. When she arrives she is told the bad news that she needs to pay off the debt by working as a prostitute. Being a scared little girl she feels forced.. I would consider her trafficked,, even though she never left thailand. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Ofcourse, it's more horrible when they take someones passport etc...

*edit* Another situation might be when the girls parents, again from Isaan wink.png owes money to loansharks, and they take the daughter as payment.. The daughter is having a hard time to refuse, because thai girls rarely if ever rebel against their parents.

Think about this when you pay for prostitutes, you don't know what kind of evil bastards you are supporting.

ps. I've done well above my fair share of bargirls, and I am deeply ashamed.. sad.png

Behind all those lovely smiles there is a great suffering of Manic Depression. Sold by the parents or other relatives higher in the pecking order, pressure to support the family............ Abuse, prostitution, human trafficking, and hardly any Thai bothers.

  14. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

I've got to really hand it to the reporter on this one. Could he have found a smaller or more cute photo of a wild hog than that?

It really makes these two poachers out to be quite the heartless buffoons. What do they do when they aren't hunting Piglet, drowning day-old puppies?

And the photo is from the Netherlands

I can assure you there are NO wild boar piglets in The Netherlands left. When there were, color picture technology didn't exist yet.

I once repaired a radiator on a brown Renault for a friend. Big hole in it. He shot his car in the forest thinking it was a deer. He didn't come far in his further career.
