  1. There is some good news from the light at the end of the tunnel.

In the UK, 'Snickers' bars are only 48g and cost 51p. = 28 Baht.

Tesco Lotus currently sells 'Snickers' ( or Marathon as I like to call them wink.png ) for 18 Baht, and they are 51g.

Just thought you'd like to know that. cheesy.gifcheesy.gif

Yeah, yeah, but here they melt in away just like that. So keep them cool / freezed them and subsequently break your teeth. I prefer to eat Snickers in the UK.

  2. As far as I know, the muslim insurgents in the deep south want their own state, or to be part of Malaysia. But i could bewrong.

Anyway I think that this "war" in the deep south is a too good "money-cow" for the military to really want to end it.

Lastly, I have to confess the millitary (coup) have started out in a really good way. Let´s hope it continues like that!

All who neglect democracy, are accepting defeat as satisfactory. It won't work.

  3. Wondering when the first foreign Ambassadors are called home from Bangkok.

Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met behulp van Thaivisa Connect Thailand

Totally agree. Modern Western countries can not jusitfy to keep them in during this absolute State of Dictatorship by an Army.

  4. Absolute madness!! Where on earth do these crazy laws and decisions come from! £18 pounds??? Disgraceful! Freed to murder without a worry about the poor people and their families he destroyed ....

Have you been there? Have you seen it happen? How do you come to the "murder" conclusion when the judge comes to the accident conclusion? How comes you only mention the 18 pounds but not the 2-year suspended jail sentence attached? Did you ever bother to look at your own countries laws (as I did above) and compared what you would get for an accicent with manslaughter (assuming not being drunk or driving to fast) back in your home country?

But of course... easier to bash than think before...

No, I haven't seen it happen but I know the roads there very very well. Try yourself once the old extension of On Nut from Lat Krabang to Chachoengsao. Truck drivers do competition with each other. New factories are being built there. Exhausted, Yabaa, drunk, cell. phones glued to the ears. Jumping with their trailers over little bridges. Daily lethal accidents. Moblie murder machines. Regularly you see (foreign)cyclists taking this shortcut from BKK towards Cambodia. I always stop and warn them for one of the worst areas on Thailand when it comes to road safety. What is your opinion of the accident? Bananaskin on the tarmack?

  5. Will this mean another run at the banks by the Bangkok people, if the banks decide to just hand out money to the farmers just from out of the blue?

No, this will not happen again, there is now a sensible junta administration, moreover Thai banks will not get involved in silly financial activities.

Sensible administration? They took power 6 x 24 hours ago. You are a quick auditor: apply at Price Waterhouse & Cooper!

I garantuee you it'll take a while to show but this admin. will be far from sensible. It will be more mess.

  6. How I love these TV posters who claim to believe in democracy and yet do not agree with the bail. They are on bail because this is due process in a democracy. The government can charge you with anything they want, the question is it's validity. They will have their day in court. So don't feel bad if these democracy loving people spoke up for their democratic rights, while most of you PTP and Red shirt supports already sold your souls to Thaksin. Learn to stand your own, it's better.

I come from a democracy where bail is not existing. If the crimes are serious you stay in jail until your court case comes up. And I garantuee you; it works much more honest. What is Suthep going to do until this 1/3 day of 'court' cartoon? His over creative brain will create more mess. Could be the airport again.....

  7. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

Seems everybody gets bail in Thailand!

    Why Not!

Aren't you consider innocent until proved guilty in a Court of Law, or in this case a Military Tribunal? They haven't been charged for Murder, and they are not a Flight Risk with no Passports and authorities watching. They also have not been convicted of any crime as of yet, although they still may be under House Arrest. So why should they hold them in jail, at the tax payers expense?

What do you think happens in Canada, UK, and Good Ole USA to people charged with a crime less than murder or rape, but have not had there day in court yet either?

    Would it be "Bail"?

The Law is supposed to be applied equally and fairly to everyone. So just because you have more money than most, making it easier to escape and hide out a long time, that doesn't mean you have to stay locked up until your Court Date, when someone with less money gets to get out on Bail.

    I think this is fair.

Very fair indeed, restoring Law & Order and let the causers out after 4 x 24 hours in return for 1/2 an expat month salary. Very wise. No, this is really going to work. If you crush the country, you can sit at home waiting for your court case. Unbelievable.

  8. Well this came as a surprise to me, having seen 2 previous coups.

Can only go 1 of 2 ways:

    1. FULL dictatorship, very unlikely in these days, but stranger things are known to happen.

    2. An honest attempt of the general to make some real changes in Thailand, which are needed.

    Time will tell

An honest attempt won't happen. They (he) proofed to be not trustworthy from the day it was said no coup would take place. There is a lot wrong with Thaksin but I trust him more then these High Ranking fellows with material paid by 'their' civilians.

  9. Many TVF posters expressed last weeks their wish to have Suthep off the streets. Later funny remarks about YL being detained. And worries about beer- and/or internet supply since a coup was a fact. Now you see what screws this country for decades and obstructs normal reform and development of a society wishing democracy. The Army. Which at any time rules out any civilised behavior and stands 'above the law'. Just detaining people/parents and paralyse 100% what people aim and fight for. Medieval.

  11. All the female smiles in Cowboi, most of them are on strangling contracts and no way they can walk off.

What a load of BS.rolleyes.gif I am suspicious of the rest of your post too, although such places do exist.

Ask around and keep your ears open. When it comes to forced prostitution and human trafficking, Cowboi, Nana and Patpong are the places to find such victims. Why on earth would a girl work over 5 years in the same dull place with seasons of non-customers & non-come? Try Twins Bar / Siamese Twin. Try Afterschool etc. etc.

They are stuck. Completely sold and stuck.

  12. surely there are good police ...

Step 1 would be to search and close all the brothels OWNED by (Thai) coppers. I know more then 35 locations with forced prostitutes inside where the owner wears an uniform during the day.

Btw, my previous nanny was sold by her Korat mother for 5,000 Thb. to a prostitute bar in Cowboi. But she made it out and takes care of children now. All the female smiles in Cowboi, most of them are on strangling contracts and no way they can walk off.
