No point in putting those signs up if they are not enforced, but for thais as well as farangs please !

As I am aware a majority of thais in Pattaya have had to survive the lockdown with no financial support or food distribution from official sources since March 23rd.

what about the massive public discontent coming soon ?
Yes indeed, I thought international investors put a value on political stability which is in jeopardy if you shut everything down and forget your people need to pay the rent and eat something.

I think alcohol ran out, this party girl offered yaba, he normally would say no and accepted this time. Then crazy.
Proper testing in hospital could show wether he used just once or more often. We really need to know from their friends & associates who was familiar with using drugs in this case.

What can one even say? Tourism is not returning to Thailand anytime soon. If you think about it, the group that comprised perhaps 60% of all arrivals (lower to middle income Chinese and Indians) are the ones who have been hardest hit by this idiotic worldwide economic shutdown. Tourism in Thailand will never recover to even close to it's former levels, and that leaves millions out of work. Most countries will still be required to have Covid letters, as the virus is still raging in many countries. And some countries will not issue that letter (impossible to get in the US). Plus, will the mandatory health insurance still be required? Will it be even stricter than before? And just what are people returning to, or coming to? Will everything be open? How about nightlife?
There are so many unanswered questions, it boggles the mind. One thing is for certain. Thailand will be feeling the effects of this for a very, very long time. So will the rest of the world. And rosy projections are just that. They are based on less than zero.
Spidermike007,
Yes, I could not obtain the medical certificate required in March here in UK. Will the requirements for the wonderfull ? Chinese be more lenient.

Many positive comments about Pattaya's future but without the tourist money coming in to support city council funds I do wonder ?

Instead of stating the obvious about the amount of time Pattaya's tourism industry may take to recover, why don't they look at the opportunity in front of them: time to clean up Pattaya and make it a resort for the New World that is coming, less jet ski scams, less double pricing, sort out the waste water drains going out to sea, the songtheaw mafia, etc - time to make it more welcoming
I agree, they were still working on the Beach rd befor new year and I see it continues. Now the beach sand is washing away again. The city council will be counting the costs.

You might know the Chinese are the first ones they are wanting to enter Thailand. The ones that started all this and the ones that don't contribute to any of the thai businesses. They only do business with Chinese owned businesses that are part of their tour group.
You never hear anything about the expats with visas that are stranded in other countries and still can't return to our homes in Thailand. The foreigners that actually contribute to the Thai economy.
Quite correct, many farangs are waiting to return to see their thai partners. They contribute to the economy and society. The hordes of chinese just come and go, dare I say like this virus.

A Korean company has a covid test that gives result in 15 minutes. Test everyone when they arrive at the airport. Better yet test them before they come to Thailand.
Next offer free quarantine accommodations and free medical coverage if a tourist gets sick in Thailand.
Additional charges will apply on arrival for the test, thats for sure.

They don't seem to realise airlines worldwide have drastically curtailed services, because they have no passengers.
Quite right, if they stick with those two requirements, nothing is going to change. Impossible to obtain and the possibility of 14 days self-isolation. I think most people will abandon any plans for this year now.

Here in the UK the chancellor is funding millions of £ to help people and business get through lockdown. Meanwhile in Thailand business will never open again and empty stomachs and unpaid rent will raise fists eventually. What price does thr FX put on political stability ?

While Thailand has done next to nothing supporting anyone during lockdown I would ask you all what price do you put on political stability. Currency markets prefer it.

It's not the 2nd wave.. No restrictions have been eased, in fact they have become stricter.
The extra numbers are confined to worker dorms that are quarantined. Community cases are averaging about 10-30 per day over the past couple weeks..
Anyway, this is about the Baht !!
I'm with Cornishcarlos, OK !

Requirements like that will stop people coming. The UK Foreign Office is advising brits on returning home, not visiting Thailand.

It's a nice gesture but where is the government aparatus that should have been put in place for this reason? Any idiot should know this would cause serious problems for the poorer part of the country.
My thoughts exactly, where is the foresight to see the impact on people ? There are some very deep pockets in Thailand as well as the authorities who should be helping the ones in need.

Anutin angrily called us filthy unwashed farangs because some arrivals refused his offer of a mask. But the view is increasing now that we should wear a mask to protect each other.

I took advice of TVF commenters and told bye to my Thai lady but sent her 3,400 BT two weeks ago for her birthday. She hasn't picked up the money yet. I don't think all Thai is that desperate.
Probably, because you did'nt send the correct Western Union number details and now she can't top up her mobile. PS, 3,400 does'nt go that far.

Prayut is right to ask these mega rich people to chip in and help. Ministers have done the same here in the UK.

So, what is really going on ? Pattaya & everywhere shutdown and lockdown. Is this proportional measures ?

I will be very pleased to hear the thai people are free to go about their lives again. But, don't expect an influx of farangs with fat wallets any time soon.

As with Pound which fell 20% after the brexit vote, the Boe has steadily lowered the bsse rate to encourage business but has made the UK like a fire sale to foreign investors.

What does make one ponder is that very little toward a herd immunity has developed. So once we've opened the flood gates what's to prevent the mass spread from reemerging?
It would seem there never was a mass spread in the first place.
