Agreed, even if the lockdown and tourist travel restrictions were lifted today it would be too late for so many thais who live in the "now".
I should also say I am so sorry about that, it is not a time to just think about the bargains to be had.

Disgusting to see the jokes coming up here about cheap bargains becoming available from the desperate selling of so many now.
Instead of snitching around about who's wearing a mask or not and who is daring to leave his room to get some daylight, and calling the Covid police, why not thinking about helping these numerous victims of the lockdown?Agreed, even if the lockdown and tourist travel restrictions were lifted today it would be too late for so many thais who live in the "now".

Only 35 deaths since January! Incredible. 980 die in the UK yesterday.
I hope all the dead in Thailand are being tested for the virus?
The difference is quite incredible. I am just left thinking it's the hotter climate.

IS IT not AMAZING ALL THESE POLICE......to be used to check.....where are they IN NORMAL TIMES, to check helmetless riders??? and noisy exhausts and vehicles not showing TAX .....the list goes on....
Agree, and we are ecpecting those very prople who disregard helmet, vehicle condition and road law to abide by the lock-down and travel restrictions.

They'll still come as most tourists won't be seeing that kind of news, or trawling this site... not that'd it'd bother them anyway. Once it's died down, only awkward visas/compulsory insurance, gov advisories etc would keep them away.
Obtaining a Medical Certificate and Insurance which includes covid-19 will keep numbers very thin on the ground.

Why did they enter after March 10? By late Feb it was clear travel would be a problem. No sympathy for people like this.
Really ?

Any incoming flights are only carrying returning thai citizens now since last week.

Today's Bloomberg assessment of the situation:
"" The problem for markets, of course, is that literally nobody has any idea yet how long this will last, how big it will get, and how far it will spread. ""
Glad for those that stay in Thailand !The financial consequences for people in countries with scant or no welfare and medical services are serious snd will escalate with each passing. At least LOS shut down arrivals on 23rd March.

Medical certificates and Insurance covering covid-19 came in on 22nd and I was unable to fly out with Qatar on 23rd from Lhr. Thai citizens also needed clearance from the Embassy and the ones travelling.

People make mistakes but throughout the process of selling your home, car and possessions, was there no pause for reflection. ?Normally two heads are better than one.

I was unable to board my fight as Thailand locked down last week, just as well. There must be so many thais who have lost their work in Pattaya and suffering financial crisis to cover food and rent. Not covered by welfare. Greatly concerning and feedback appreciated.

Baansgr, we are living in stressful times but I am not aware covid-19 is rampant in Pattaya. So calm down and stop posting a load of derogatory insults. Where does that get us ?

Oh God yes. It must be what?... maybe 40 years since I assisted with installing a dozen 26" luxury colour televisions in the maximum security wing at Peterhead prison in Scotland.
But that is'nt Thailand is it ! Who knows what the conditions are like and best not to find out.

I did'nt make it onto my flight back to Pattaya this week, just as well I think as the realisation this week is that Covid-19 tightens it's grip and everyone has to lockdown and isolate. Stay strong everyone.

Just as well I did'nt make my flight on 23rd. Would be be stuck there as the world locks down. But seriously, when Spain, Italy, etc suffer huge numbers of deaths, what are the real numbers in Thailand ?
-
After being unable to board my flight on 23rd without the Medical Certificate it will be a while before I try again. Refund or voucher from airline-I don't know yet. The current dirty farang atmosphere in LOS-no thanks !
-
I love it, shoo people off the benches, WHAT BENCHES ? They took them all away years ago.
-
I am not aware any measures have been taken to support people who are suffering this lock down. Where are the food banks, soup kitchens, any welfare benefits at all ?
-
Whatever the projected number of infections and deaths, I just want accurate stats.

It's a fair question, "where do these fines go ? "

The airports may be open but dirty farang arrivals are in lock down as i could not board my flight on 23rd march. It's your party now Thailand. Enjoy !

There can be no excuse for anyone mixing in close proximity but the mindset against dirty farang leaves me not wanting come back again.

Yes, I can believe that will happen in other countries as well. Governments will issue bonds to finance the debt and China will buy them. Companies and property will be snapped up by Chinese citizens. All part of the belt and road.
