Sorry but if the pound drops 30%, saving 5% on a flight is meaningless
Didn't the report say it was for internal flights as no fuel tax is charged on international flights.

Yet my daughter has booked flight LHR-BKK for January for less than 400GBP, I was quite surprised they were the best priced direct flight. Hope they don't crash as I paid.
In my experience they seem to be fairly competitive in economy at various times of the year however like most airlines a lot of their profits come from the Biz and First customers and more often than not they are far more expensive than their rivals.

he should have said ' staff need to work harder at looking for a new job '
I hope they don't. There are thousands of hard-working cabin crew and ground staff that would lose their jobs.

That will be Sir Tim Clark of Emirates Airline in Dubai you're referring to I presume.
Nothing to do with the Saudis.
Yes, UAE not Saudi's. It was late.

Yes I've said the same on another thread.
Their margin aspirations are far too high. I fly a mix of Thai and Emirates, I prefer Thai as it's direct and their ground services are better even though Emirates on board services beats them hands down. Thai are generally £800-1000 more expensive than Emirates in F and on occasions I'm the only passenger in the cabin. No wonder!!
They need outside help. The Saudi's realised this and got Tim Clark to turn the airline around but typical loss of face means they would rather go under than ask for outside expert help.- 23

I'm surprised the president would make such a statement.
Who's going to book their flight with Thai now that they may go under at any time.

Yes, really. Since July IIRC, and discussed on here at the time.

I fly F so maybe they still hand them out. Flying again in Jan. so will be interesting to know if they have stopped.

I wonder how many overstay by a day or two. I suppose these people would be caught in the net too?
45,000 sounds iffy to me.

Fast track passes were discontinued months ago. Boarding pass for Business Class or above is now required.
Really? Emirates handed me a FT when I travelled in August.

Paid 5000 baht at 8.47am this morning, missus had the money at 8.53am. Usually takes 24-72 hours, well impressed.
On a separate note.
Be wary of using banks.
I have to transfer 1,000,000 to my Thai Account, ordinarily I would use transferwise but this was going to cost £158 so I thought I would check out my bank rate.
Halifax : 1,000,000 @ 34.017 = £29,397 (excluding any charges)
Transferwise : 1,000,000 @ 39.08 = £25,588 + £158 = £25,746
That's a difference of £3,651!!
With a UK bank you should never transfer thai baht, always pounds, no wonder you had a bad rate
Actually that was the rate for travel money, my mistake though even doing an an international transfer would cost me over a £1000 more with Halifax.

Not how it works.

I'm well aware of how it works and it's not in the interest of Europe seeing the UK leave. If it means another 20 extensions, then we will get them despite the rhetoric from Macron.

So, it leaves to two options, when the Boris deal does NOT pass the HoC: a no deal ( and rejected several times in the HoC) or a revoke of art 50 = End of the brexit.
Or we crash out.

This is a new deal, which hasnt yet been rejected once by the HoC .
EU has stated that there will be no more extensions , so, accept this deal or we shall be leaving without a deal
There is no way that the EU will let us leave without a deal.

To be expected. About time people recognise that a compromise is necessary to bring this situation to a finality. johnson has delivered on the referendum vote. So be it, and move on.
Maybe I'm wrong but I will be amazed if it gets voted through Parliament.
Expect a 3 month extension.

Fun fact they also have issue with milk powder smuggling into China.
I remember that, it was the Melamine scare. UK retailers were having to put restrictions in place on how many tins consumers could buy as they were being exported to China in bulk.

yes …. I tend to agree with that statement, as it seems when sanctions are enforced the country and it's people just carry on as normal and the sanctions are normally suppose to punish the government or leader and in reality it doesn't affect the leader one bit, only the pubic suffer who have absolutely nothing to do with the conflict. eg: Iran, N.Korea
The problem with sanctions is that they only work if everyone is on board. China is still propping up the regime despite saying otherwise.
It's the populace that is suffering.

I thought parental consent was also required from 15years to 18years.
From wiki so take with a pinch of salt
The age of consent in Thailand is 15 regardless of gender or sexual orientation, as specified by article 279 of the Thai Criminal Code. The current legislation applies to all regardless of gender or sexual orientation.
However, parts of the Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act, which disallow any sexual contact with prostitutes under the age of 18, are widely interpreted by some local authorities to cover sexual acts classed as "obscenity for personal gratification". Also, from the Penal Code Amendment Actof 1997 Section 283bis, having sex with an adolescent under 18 is a compoundable offense even with the consent of that person. The parent or the adolescent may file charges against the other side if they later regret their own action. This ostensibly makes the Thai unfettered age of consent 18.
A high-profile example of this application of the law was a statutory rape charge filed against the lead singer of the Thai band Big Ass for allegedly having had sex with a (then) 16-year-old girl. The charge was filed by the girl after the singer refused to take responsibility for her baby. The singer has since been cleared of being the baby's father due to the results of a paternity test and he received 2 years suspended sentence

Not recession because as I understand it you need 2 consecutive periods of negative growth
That being said, slower growth rates are certainly one of the first signs of a recession.
