Thailand Balances Booze Ban with Tourism on Buddhist Holy Days
Chelseafan replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
This old chestnut again. The Story's been circulating for the last 20 years. I'm OK with the ban, afterall it gives me a day or two to detox. What they SHOULD remove is the stupid daytime law of buying alcohol in the supermarkets. -
Don't dispute what you're saying but in theory with the installation of AI cameras, and remember these things are very invasive to the point they don't just check your speed but can see inside your car with 4D radar. I am sure they'll be cutting the traffic police roles over time. At technoloogy improves futher then more jobs will be lost. Hopefully they'll never see the light of day, I've already received a few tickets from the current cameras...

The Institute of Race Relations / The Race Equality Foundation / Race on the Agenda Not a biased article at all and given it's written by the left leaning Guardian, I will take this with a pinch of salt. -

Anyone used these Court Jesters "Onward ticket"
Chelseafan replied to Chivas's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Do some research on the net. Start with trustpilot but mix up your search with other websites, Remember people usually complain and very rarely compliment so you might get a negative overview. From my 20 second search they seem illegit If the tickets seem considerably cheaper than legit websites like Skyscanner then I would be wary. -
Austria's Far Right Seizes Historic Victory Amidst Political Turmoil

Thai Airways Files Restructuring Plan: Eyes 2025 Relisting
Chelseafan replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I agree although plane crashes tend to have a short-term impact. IMHO there has been too much nepotism, cronyism and bad management over the years that ran them in the ground. They were slow in upgrading their aircraft to fight the growing competition from the ME airlines and were always uncompetitive on price. I've flown First a few times recently and the service has got better but it's not a patch on Emirates, Etihad and Qatar. As for their website, it's a mess trying to navigate. -
First UK Lawmaker Resigns from Labour Party, Accuses PM of Hypocrisy
Chelseafan replied to Social Media's topic in World News
She was always going to jump ship at some point but she cynically waited until she got elected to enjoy those 5 years as an MP. If she had any principles then she would resign and call a by-election, that way we can see if her constitutents agree with her -
Golden week: Chinese tourists to Thailand dip as baht bites
Chelseafan replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The strong baht may have something to do with it but I also think it's a case of Thailand not being as much of a trendy destination these days. Bali seems to be their preferred destination and as we know the Chinese travel in groups...l -
Fair enough. I must admit, I didn't realise you were joking as it read more as a rant 🙂

If I was travelling from Nong Khai on public transport to Bangkok, I'd be leaving the day before and spending the night in town or at least hire a taxi/van to take you there direct. You seem to be blaming everyone else other than yourself.

Let me add to this. In a rush. I once spelt my name wrong on the booking and didn't realise until much later. It cost £150 to change. Lesson learnt. I believe you are an elderly gentleman so I will give you the benefit of the doubt but as you probably know, it's REALLY important to check your details before booking as airlines will sting you with any changes particuarly if you have booked the lowest "saver" fare. One other thought, what is the cost if you cancelled the booking ? Are there cheaper fares that outweigh the $588 difference? For example, if it's $250 to cancel you may find a much cheaper flight on websites like Skyscanner

Shocked at Prices for Flights in December 2024
Chelseafan replied to pj123's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
General rule of thumb is Biz is x2/3 and First x6/7 although pre-covid it was nearer x2 x4. -
I don't have knowledge of Australian airlines but IME It depends if you have purchased a cheaper saver ticket or an open ticket. A saver ticket will usually have strict conditions and penalties including date changes.
